Third Age - Total War is a total conversion mod for Medieval II: Total War that brings you into the world of Middle-earth.
Play epic and strategically demanding battles with the armies of Middle-earth and their respective heroes. An extensive playable campaign map featuring locations taken straight from Middle-earth lore. 14 unique factions, including Gondor, Rohan, High and Silvan elves, Dwarves, Eriador, Dale, Arnor, Isengard, Mordor, Rhun, Harad, the Orcs of Gundabad and the Orcs of the Misty Mountains. A great variety of units, including many famous creatures like Ents, Mumakil, Trolls, Wargs, Spiders or Sauron himself. More than 25 custom settlements and famous locations.

In the year 2510 of the Third Age, Lord Eorl the Young of the éothéod and his men delivered the men of Gondor their victory at the Battle of the Field of Celebrant against the hordes of the Balcoth tribes of Rhûn. In exchange for their valiant charge Cirion, steward of Gondor gifted the lands of Calenardhon to Eorl and his people.
Now, almost 500 years later, the lands of Rohan are ruled by king Theoden from his seat at the Golden Hall of Meduseld in Edoras. The blood of the éothéod runs deep in our people, still. The men of Rohan are horsemen by all means. There are none who ride as swift and stout as the Rohirrim. And we have proven our worth on the battlefield on countless ocassions.
Despite the strength of our king and our people, a shadow now looms over Rohan. Our king has fallen ill and we hear troubling news from the men of Gondor stationed in Osgiliath. It seems that evil has taken root once more in the black lands to the east. Our scouts report raiding parties of orcs and goblins on the banks of the Anduin, and the fair lady Galadriel of Lothlórien has warned us of an evil stirring in the lands surrounding Amon Lanc.
There are some that claim that the illness of our King is a trick by the wizard Saruman, yet the white wizard has always protected and advised our people.
Never the less, we cannot sit by idly when our people and our lands are under threat, whether that be from the east or the west. The time has come to muster the rohirrim and prove once more why the kingdom of Rohan is the greatest realm in all of middle-earth.
