thanks for your good work. I'm working up a mod for a defensive Moria campaign. I've added a bunch of moria specific buildings (some of which should already exist like the mines, and thus have a short construction time from what the orcs haven't completely destroyed) and I've found some ways to add entirely new units but there are some challenges in getting around them... for instance for the sake of role play... THRAIN survives the curse and imprisonment at Dol Goldur. After Sauron is driven away and Balin tries to establish a new stronghold in Moria, Thrain, still mentally unstable from years of curse and entrapment, rides in with his company of dwarves, "Thrains' Riders", to help Balin (tho he didn't know Balin was going to try to do it, he just sees him there when his spirit drove him to Moria for the same reasons). I'd like for Thrain's riders to be dwarves not orcs, but only the officers and captains are dwarves, and the dwarves are standing on the mount, but the captains behave normally... maybe you can help me figure out how to get a new unit that I'm creating using "warg riders" (Isengard) as a base, so that they are all dwarves, tho the role play of orcs works, if he is able to win over a few stragglers that were his captors as his battle prowess sharpens in the lack of the necromancer's power... if you could email me some suggestions at ctla_4_play@yahoo.com or make a video on how to add a new mounted unit for wargs I'd appreciate it. I also noticed in the code for TATW D&C there is a wild boar creature and it would be better to have them on those than the wolves.

I was curious on adding an elite warg unit for isengard using the bolg champion warg model and combining it with a armored uruk hai model instead (Very much against the lore, but I thought it'd be fun.). I have learned the basics of adding an existing unit thanks to your guidance, and this would be a real cool stepping point.

Great video! What other steps need to be taken (aside from securing permission) to move units from one mod to another? For example Royal Kataphractoi from Broken Crescent to Stainless Steel?

Filip Koza you need to move models make sure that there is a place for unit(500 units max in the mod) you need to copy ui add them to export desc buildings and units and u need to edit them into battlemodels database. I think that is i have never done it and i am no expert so i am maybe lying

excellent work my friend , just wow .... watched all your videos and think im winning . custom battle this has worked campaign im unsure but this hasnt worked for fellowship campaign , i add silvan heavy archers (Elf Guard) to sicily (gondor) and timurids (fellowship) and still have silver surfers .... i know im about 3 years to late the game is working fine so i believe i done the modding correctly please confirm weather these mods work in fellowship campaign please

Hey thankyou soooo much for this video i just discovered it i am a huge fan of dac over og third age because dac is so much more book based i love the mod its amazing and i always wanted to be able to recruit all men units with Northern Dunedain but i only knew how to mess with the unit script so it never worked im now in the process of completing that dream but i had a question lets say i didnt want to lose all this progress ive made in the scripts for ND when 1.0 comes out how do i maintain them being able to recruit all the units ive added to thier possible roster

Hey Arachir! So I tried to readd the lebennin marines into my game, so I used an old version of DAC to find their stats and uis and put them into the descr_units the edu and edb and the moddb and the ui folders. I did every step in this video, are there extra steps that I need to do to make the game recognize those units, because now when I try to start up DAC it just says that M2 just encountered and errors and must now close. I am currently using version 1.2 by the way. Anyways thanks!

i did just as you did (but i added orc maulers to orcs of mm) and everything is fine no crashes but when i go to orcs of mm there are no orc maulers

I can move a unit from one mod to another and it shows up in the custom battle but when I start the battle it crashes. I know I've gotten the models file right because the game wouldn't start if i didnt. I know I'm missing something small but I dont k ow what. Also I'm not sure if not editing the ui would do that but I thought if you didnt do that it would just have the Roman peasant card place holder. I tried to find the ui for that unit I wanted to move but could not. I'm not sure if it wasn't there to begin with. The Italian Peninsula 2 game files is a little chaotic. Any help would be appreciated

Hi, I have a modding related question (obviously...), it'd be nice if someone could help me out here. Briefly, I wanted to add three new units to Imladris' roster but they should look like Lindon's Eldarinwe units(while keeping the golden Eldarinwe). So I just set up the recruitment slots in the Jeweller's Guild for them and created the units. I copied in the bmdb just the value for the normal Eldarinwe, renamed them in all necessary files and assigned the silver models to egypt. It works great and perfectly fine for the Swordsmen. Everything works, I can train them, they appear as they should. But when I try to also implement the Archers and Spears, my game crashes and so I was wondering if (apart from typing mistakes or this sort of thing of course) there is something to also pay attention to which might cause the crashes. Thank you in advance! To Arachîr Galudirithon: Thanks for the great videos! You have a way of explaining things so easily and simply. Also love the lore and D&C gameplay!

Yo! i finally succeeded in importing normal units from DAC to my third age! But for units such as Isengard Trolls it seems differents... Maybe it's because of custom animation? I have not idea my game crashes after i try to play with them in custom games just after the loading screen... Do you have some ideas ? Thanks for this great tutoriel! And battle_models file isn't so difficult... Just ennoying.

I hope you can amswer my question: I want to add units from Dac to my own mod and everything was ok until i added missile units. (but just those with 2H melee weapon like ND Bodyguard) If i play a custom battle they can fire but at the point they go in melee the game crashes. Maybe there is something with the animation. But i copied the animation folder from Dac. Please help me :/

Hi Arachir and the other DaC lovers, i have a question and cant find the answer. How or where can i change the start settings, i want to put some extra units in some city's/village's from different factions but cant find the right file to do that. :) It make some factions a litte stronger in the early game wich i find more interresting, for now i do it with "cheat commands" in game but find it not very easy finding the right name's of the units.

Hey I got a question (don't know if you're still active). I tried making the Greyflood Riders of Enewaith available for Isengard when Isengard takes Enedwaith lands. Worked perfectly, the unit is available when it should, and the horse is normal but the riders are all silver surfers. The model name is apparently rohirrim_riders (which makes no sense but anyway). I tried looking for a Greyflood Riders model, but nothing existed, the units are the same as the Greyflood Raiders (the infantry skirmishers), tried copying those into Isengard too, still not working. I tried copying every single Enedwaith model to make them all available for Isengard (France), plus the rohirrim_riders one, but the riders are always silver surfers The officer and horses are all normal, except for the riders. What could have gone wrong? P.S.: I have already made Snaga archers, Stalkers and Skirmishers all available to Isengard and fixed their silver surfer issue but the Greyflood riders just persist

You need to add owenership to the BMDb entry for the armour_up_model line: armour_ug_models mounted_huntsmen, mounted_huntsmen, mounted_huntsmen (That is an example and the unit may not be called that)

@ okay one more question. I noticed that when I added the same unit to several factions just like you did with the Hasharii archers, the game would keep crashing the same way it did when I exceeded the 500 unit total. Does adding the models of the same units to other factions also count as additional units that add up to the "up to 500 total" number? EDIT: Also, do the _upg models of each unit count as different units?

I came across something interesting. I'm making it so that Lindon can train the three elite Imladris units - Guards, Riders, and Rangers - if they take Imladris the same way they can train the Smiths of Eregion by taking Ost-in-Edhil. I've done the Riders and Rangers now - though I didn't have to transfer the models for the horses as all the elves seem to use the same model - but when I went to do the Guards, the saxons(Lindon) were already listed in the battle_models.modeldb file under the imladris guards entry. Along with the turks(Northern Dunedain)! But neither one was listed under the Imladris Guards entry in the export_descr_unit file as being able to train them. Were those two factions originally meant to train these units but decided against, or were they meant to and forgotten about? Or is it an oversight all together? Not really a big thing, just something I'm curious about. For the record, this is in the 1.1 version. Also, according to the export_descr_buildings file, the three Imladris units only train from something called "elrond_house" listed under the Landmarks section near the bottom. I'm assuming that that's the Last Homely House structure in Imladris itself, so my question is, do I only have to add 'saxons' in alongside 'egypt' to make them trainable for Lindon? Or do I have to go through that whole spiel you explained at that stage. And what about Tulkas' Faithful? Do I have to do that as well? Or just toss in a 'saxons' at the "requires factions" part?

That unit is used as an officer for Imladris units, some of which are shared with Lindon so they have to have ownership otherwise it will be a silver surfer. You only have to 'toss in' a Saxon.

Arachîr Galudirithon Right, I remember now. I'll have to try again, cause when I finished and tried to fire it up, DaC shut down without making it to the opening cinematics. Do I have to add 'saxons' to the required factions for elrond_house maybe? Either way, thanks for the reply.

Got it! I was adding the 'saxons' into the same entry as the 'egypt' entry in the export_descr_buildings instead of creating new entries under 'elrond_house' for each of the units for the saxons! Man this is fun, I see why you like modding so much.

Got another question: how would I go about making the Noldorin Guard a trainable unit rather than just a one of a kind(or three of a kind) general unit? Cause its only entry in the battle model database is for the soldier model for the Imladris Rangers. And, of course, because it's not trainable it's got no entry in the export_descr_buildings file either. Since the model and attachments are already present for Imladris in the model database, should I just create a new entry in the building file? Like copy and paste one of the Imladris entries and replace the name?

How do i make a unit AOR restricted, I want to add a style like the ND but for the dwarves of Erebor, (I think it would be a nice touch). I was just going to restrict the units to one city, for example Thranduils halls. Just curious :)

It is easy once you have done it a few times. You will however need to have knowledge of the following files: data/text/imperial_campaigns_and_regions... (The file with the biggest name) data/world/maps/base/descr_regions data.export_descr_unit You will need notepad++. File A will tell you what the regions file name is. File B will tell you what hidden resources that region has and file C is where you can tell the game to use certain hidden resources. Search for a unit you know has AOR and see how it is set up and just copy it but then edit the hidden resources for what you want. You can have multiple entries of the same unit as long as they each have different hidden resources.

I have tried to add multiple Ar-Adunaim units to Angmar with no luck, silver surfer every time. I was able to add any units from Gundabad to Angmar with total ease, are you aware of why this is happening with Ar-Adunaim to Angmar?
