Third Eye Blind - Again. An exclusive live performance for Vevo.
Third Eye Blind’s 1997 self-titled album, colloquially called “the red album” by fans, might have the strongest four-song stretch of any record from an alt band of that era. “Semi-Charmed Life” to “Jumper” to “Graduate” to “How’s It Going to Be” - super impressive. Think of the dorm room singalongs to “How’s It Going to Be”; those who connected with the deeply poignant lyrics of “Jumper”; the high-school and college party playlists that were nothing without “Semi-Charmed Life” on them. Then, in ’99, the band served more heat with “Never Let You Go,” a song so catchy and so ’90s that two decades later an entire era of alt and pop musicians are grasping to capture the same vibe. A handful of albums later, frontman Stephan Jenkins is still keeping 3EB strong; Pitchfork even liked 2019’s “Screamer,” no small feat. With the band’s ‘Our Band Apart’ on the shelves, to use a ’90s phrase, we jumped to host Jenkins in our studio for an acoustic rendition of “Again.” Watching him strum, you can’t help but think it’s been a semi-charmed life, indeed.
