This Brings lots of memories to me to see Cathkin park again Debut 22-10-1966 what a great 👍 place when I was just a young 18 year old lad senior league Debut hattrick- thank you 🙏 for.showing something for me over 54 years ago
Interesting to hear that. I think Thirds won that game 7-4 still? I've been on the pitch too, when I was a small kid, a few weeks after the doors got closed and the grass was a foot long! We climbed in. I still remember the eeriness and emptiness of the terraces and stand and the overgrown grass. It was a bright day, it must have been in summer 67.
Three years later and Celtic are European Champions ... What Stein did with that squad plus a couple more he brought in within 2 years was truly unbelievable ..
I think I was at that game. Poor old Thirds, I'm a Celtic fan but remember the Thirds forward line with Hilly Harley and Gray. Does anyone remember a cracking cup tie at Celtic park a 4 each draw with Thirds one of the most exciting matches I've ever seen in over 60yrs of watching the boys. Cathkin was great wee ground. RIP
I’m an avid Celtic fan and while on a visit to Paradise for a recent European match, I walked out to Cathkin Park to see what it was all about - I’d heard about it and passed it by previously without exploring. I was astounded by what I found… the old terraces overgrown with trees and foliage but the pitch (still in use) and surrounds still evoking the outline of the old stadium. I felt it was a privilege to stand in the middle of that pitch - with only a man and his dog nearby - and take some personal photos and a video to show my son and other football mad friends. It felt like the ghosts of the past were all around me. Long may it remain … or better still, rise again 👏👏👏
I'm amazed to see this! I was on the pitch when I was very young booting a ball around in foot long grass a few weeks after the stadium shut down. There were then 2 separate fires within a few months in the main stand caused by vandals. Third Lanark went bust because the Chairman Bill Hiddlestone was a crook and defrauded the club in a huge way. Ironically he never faced justice.....he died of a heart attack a few months later. The last senior game played there was on April 25th, 1967, a 3-3 draw with QOS.
@@chrisgemmell2742 Yeah parts of it are still there. The stone steps on the terracing and small white perimeter wall are the originals. The barriers are not. The original barriers were concrete. History is interesting.
I was the ball boy start of video on right hand side now an old fxxx , 4-4 game was the best although don't remember a lot about it, the hi hi used to train in kings park used to dog school and get the players drinks etc, hilley Harley grey era , good simple days , now it's all about money and we have ended up with a two horse race if anybody even draws with Celtic or rangers now it's an investigation, not good for the game and I'm a Celtic supporter now, that's my moan for today!!!!!
I've seen an entrance to that old stadium. On the Prospecthill Rd, across from ASDA and i'd judge, ignoring Google Earth , behind the police station. From memory. All i saw was these broken up concrete steps all greened over with moss. Said to myself, "found it!" .
@@Kelly14UK Came third ahead of Celtic and scored a hundred goals in 1960-61 season Hilley Harley and Gray were sold to Man City and Newcastle for total 100 k
