Since I am a phd student, downloading papers from sci-hub is a casual thing. Once upon a time, before the OTT era, downloading movies from torrent is a special skill. There was a common say during old days that guys know better to download movies from torrents. I was so proud that time that i was able to download all new hd movies from torrents (even being a girl) from when we stopped buying dvds to watch new movies.

I have used audio cassettes, and watched movies in VCR cassettes, CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray discs(DVDs) mostly in every format that was available in everytime scale..For the first time I bought an MP3 CD - Vijay hits for ₹40 and the price of the last DVD (Geminiganesanum Suruli rajanum Lotus Fivestar DVD print) for ₹20... During those time watching movies in DIVX dvds where they write 7-8 movies in a single disc was a fascinating one...Still now I have AYAN movie in DVD (Ayngaran DVD print) and I am keeping these movie DVD's like a treasure So my music hearing journey started from audio cassettes and now I am hearing music in WAV/ FLAC / m4a Itunes format and movie watching from VCR casettes to OTT

I completed my doctorate with the help of Sci-hub. Many of the research articles are under subscription which limits access from journal. Some of the articles remain unavailable until the journal is subscribed which as an individual, an intermittent level institute or university cannot afford. This slows down the research progress in the whole. Apart from that, many journals are now converting to open access which requires authors to pay a hefty sum of money to publish. This is insane amount of money to be spent just to publish the research data which was obtained after spending several lakhs of money as salary, consumables and contingency for doing the research. In brief, the progress in science, technology and Healthcare is controlled by few people who just pass the papers on desk. . . . . Here, I am not talking about politicians.
