I bought the Cheapest Pre-Built gaming PC on Newegg with Nvidia RTX graphics in it. Needless to say it's a complete abomination.

Performance is more important than a gimmick imo. Ray tracing doesn't even do much right now, besides Minecraft RTX. Just makes surfaces look wet, and it doesn't look much different.

Well, it depends which ones you compare - 2600k was definitely better than let's say 4570 and 4790k was better than 7500 or 8700k was better than 9500 and so on...

Happens all the time. I'll see someone but an i7 4770 for 150-200$ meanwhile the new i3 for 100$ bnib , blows it out for the water. the "i7 Tax" is definitely real. It will definitely be abolished once Ryzen cups have more stock.

But, if I can get a full tower with PSU, RAM, SSD/HDD, Case, low end GPU, and i7-4770 for 150-200$ I can sell the old parts and upgrade from there, isn't that the better deal? I bought mine for $150 with 16 GB of RAM in it already. And a lot of these towers come with a 1GB AMD GPU that you can sell for 20-30 bucks or keep for a tester.

I have a Core V1 mini itx case that only has 2 HDD slots. I put 3 HDD inside of it, the 3rd HDD my 1tbSSD is glued to the back of the case with sticky pads🤣🤣👍👍😂😂 ... I have a i7 10700, 16gb DDR4 3600Mhz and a RX 6800 founders edition.

Get Windows 8.1, use the Windows 87 Restoration Pack to make it look and run sexy, and then install Windows 10 on a separate partition as a glorified compatibility layer (although you can also do Linux too). intosanctuary.com/index.php?resources/windows-8-to-7-restoration-pack.9/

Not only that i5 was the hindrance but the card was also being held back by that DDR3L ram, good thing it was working in dual channel at least, something you don't often see in such prebuilts.

@@DawidDoesTechStuff Joke's on you. No, it wasn't. DDR3 frequency had minimal effect on fps. Were you all in kindergarten? I'm guessing yes, as you seem to think DD4 was an option for Ivy Bridge... But great point about dual channel. Because the IT depts. at the large enterprises that buy PCs this way don't know the remedial things that puff your chest. Go play with pogs, children.

@@jpcassidy000 Ramspeed is only really important for Ryzen Builds. The performance boost on Intel builds is minimal as long it's not a super low speed it should be fine. Especially on DDR3 systems this is the case. I remember Linus made a video about it a long time ago before Ryzen was a thing.

I was able to get a HP Z230 Workstation with an i7 4770, 16gb of ddr3 in dual channel, a 256gb SSD and a Quadro K620 2gb video card for 70$! And it even came with a copy of Windows 10 Pro. Trying to install my 2080 in there and see how much gaming performance I'm able to get out of it!

I use linux (arch linux) on my main pc (for gaming+work) thanks to wine and steam proton you can play most of windows games on above 60fps. and I just feel like its better for coding.

These sellers make me sick. I put alot of effort into shopping for very specific hardware for these prebuilt upgrades. 2060 it rediculus on a 3rd gen i5 or even i7 non k. I build i7 3770 prebuilts usually with a 1050ti, RX 570 or RX 580, 500gb SSD, upgrade PSU and at least 16g of 1600mhz ram. I will often beef up the case cooling and even upgrade the CPU cooler. I sell these for about $400 with activated windows home or pro. All that being said it's hard to sell them because is horrible sellers like this. Thanks for listening to me rant.

400 dollar profit is not that much, if he/she sells one a month....not like they sell thousands a month lol btw most companies here make 300-500% when they re-sell which is why I prefer to buy from usa directly and pay the taxes plus the penalty tax for shopping from usa, which is another 7% i think

This was a reasonably priced PC. Comapred to the RTX prices here. I mean. If you want to get a used RTX 2060, it's gonna cost ya around 1500-2000 US dollars (converted from HUF). It's a mess down here.

The sad part of seeing this video is how wrong he is on the graphics card prices now that stock has slightly come back "they usually go for $320-$350" does not at all reflect actual prices at $750+ with most getting close to $900 meaning that this actually isn't a rip off but a 'deal' (hard to actually call it a deal with the bottlenecking but it is actually cheaper than the sum of it's parts).

Yeah.. and I never really understood the desire for RGB lighting as in general to me it seems more like a ''rule of cool'' scenario as its a needless factor in most cases unless say one ties the lighting of the item to a system where say red means somethings wrong with the part or the light just stops working if something is wrong.

When I fist got into the Hobby about a year ago. I saw a refurbished dell for OptiPlex with a 1050 8gigs of ram and a TB HD for $500. I saw GTX and instantly thought it was a sweet gaming pc with an old case and thought to myself, "It's the specs that matter not the case, it will be fine." Was about to get it until I decided for further research, about 6 months later I build my own pc for about $800 that is almost 6 times faster than that junk of a PC, best decision I ever made.

I literally built that pc for my nephew 2 years ago cost me $180 including the upgraded power supply. Pair it with an rx570 or 1050ti and its a decent casual gaming box. I agree putting an rtx anything in there and charging 1000 is disgusting

@@mikeysgametime8914 no, that is why you need the upgraded power supply. An rx570 draws 130w over an 8-pin power connection. The only useful pcie slot powered gpus right now are the 1650, 1050ti, anf rx6400. The nvidia stuff can be really hard to find at a good price

@@thepezfeo I’m looking at getting an i7 5775c, or possibly a cheap e5 1650v2 and x79 mobo so that I can hold off on a really big upgrade until the next Gen Ryzen and Intel platforms switch to DDR5

@@zuckdaddy1596 x79 lacks AVX2 instructions... I recall getting some conflicting posts/ info about whether broadwell CPUs required "refreshed" Z97 mobo or if they work on Z87 with bios update.

@@thepezfeo My z97 was built specifically to support broadwell out of the box (its an MSI PC mate z97), so I’ll be fine with the 5th Gen part. As for the Xeon, how important is avx2? I was watching some videos on the 1650v2, and it seemed to perform well enough; I also read that most consumer applications don’t utilize it. I could definitely be wrong though

Ive got an i7 4790 paired with a 2070 and i get a solid 60 fps at 4k. Would upgrading my mobo and cpu get anything more as i heard the 4790 is an even match for the 2070 and does not get any bottlenecking?

The 4790 is a great cpu for its age but imo to get the best performance from your rtx 2070 you would need to upgrade to a 7th gen i5 or i7. Just my opinion. My system isn't quite enough to max out my rx 580 with the xeon equivalent of the 3770.

@@ChrisD__ no the problem is throwing a 2060 in that rig.... That is not how you do it.... You buy a cheap optiplex to toss a 1060 in for example and an ssd.... There are to many limiting factors to try and make a 2060 work like it should in a rig like this. At that point you are best off buying a NEW PC or building a PC. These workstations are meant for budget gaming.

An Ivy Bridge Optiplex (9010/7010/3010)? Okay, now I can look for an RTX2060 for my 9020 with a Haswell i7 as well. Originally I wanted to go with a 1660Ti at max, but now I don't have to turn down a smaller sized 2060, if I stumble across one for cheap. Up until now I thought the 1660Ti was the fastest (reasonable) card you can out in there...

I recently built a very similar system for my roommate. Same model optiplex, same wattage psu, same exact SSD, but no RTX 2060. Just a humble GTX 650.
