Strange , a friend of mine has a Pathos Logos now for years , it’s even not that well treated by him, including being in a room not that well insulated ( house near The sea) , the amp even has little points of rust on the front panel, and continues to work without a problem
Awesome amp. Even if you can’t afford this amplifier, you have to take time out to admire all of the work and engineering involved with the creation of this amplifier. It’s all about the attention to details.
I hade Pathos , it sound very musical , but after a year get very hot , it die , i give it back for repair , but get broke again , I give up on that , but man it sounds good , one of choke ( inductance ) get broken .
Hey look, I’m not one of those “diMInIshiNG rETUrnS” people and I’m sure this sounds like a $100000 product, but if you’re calling something a “$50000 bargain” it had better be a house
The polarizing looks of this amp could be a turn off but those quality parts all in one box is very impressive. It looks like they spared no expense. I would love to hear this amp someday.
That sounds like Quads "current dumping " circuit. A class A tube amp followed by a current dumping circuit . Invented by Peter Walker of Quad about 50 years ago.
I love when companies spend as much time on the aesthetics as they do the performance. I’d have no issue paying this price for this amp if it suited my needs. Great video Kevin.
Once again, the topic of sales commission has come up, and I would like to remind the sales team that the profit margins on audio equipment are typically between 20-50%. For instance, selling an integrated amplifier for $50,000 with a 30% margin will make a gross profit of $15,000. This profit can and should be shared with the sales team via commission for their efforts, while the remaining gross can be used for inventory and overhead costs. It seems like some of our profits may be going towards paying for Casa Del Kevin's Crib. HA!!
I luv my pathos and hope the company thrives. What price transients ? -- The InPol Legacy IA is sufficient to drive the Focal GU EM EVOs so adding 2 Adrenaline PAs (200 W @ 8 Ohm) is already a huge step up. The GUs are 8 Ω and sensitivity (2.83V / 1m) 94dB - Focal recommend 150 - 1,500W - a huge range Why 4 Adrenalines -vs- 2 - you can already biwire the Legacy, the pair of Adrenalines and now adding a 2nd pair you would be bi-amping -- BUT not with a BRIDGE in the upstream signal path. The speaker has the option to bi-amp (removing the straps) and connecting BASS and MAIN inputs but how does the AMP know what it is connected to. Historically one has connected very high power solid state amps to Subs and to Woofers AND lower power but more flavoursome amps (ideally tube amps) to the tweeter and mids. BUT being a 4 way the GU's connections really just allow the Deep Base (subs) to be separated from the other 3 drivers - splitting the spkrs into a 16" (40cm) 'W' Electro-Magnet EM Sub and 3 way (Multiferrite 11" (27cm) 'W' midbass ; 2 Power Flower 61/2" (16.5cm) 'W' midrange drivers with TMD suspension and NIC magnet AND IAL2 pure Beryllium inverted dome 1" (27mm) tweeter). I assume that each connection is followed by a crossover - (HP/LP filter) that rejects frequencies not desired in the S/Base or Mains - as a result "what harm is there" in adding more power and bi-amping - none to my eyes. I wonder if one was to be able to dial in an electronic crossover what frequency would work best for this split -- ideally Focal would tell you - but in reality the crossover will sort it out. My suggestion is give it a go (play a good version of 1812 with live cannons as loud and then as quietly as you can bear) and hear the difference.
Maybe $8,000 in the end but still silly for 99% of people with ears. We need Kevin to do a hearing test at his semi advanced age. Probably can't hear past 12,000 Hertz as it is.🤔🤫🙄
Who is he kidding? Value for the money? Does it have silver wiring and all gold contacts? Did they make their own capacitors, resistors, and transistors? Let's call a spade a spade. It is pure bragging rights.
Audio note ( for example) has value for money ,… Line magnetic is a lot of value for money , ……Pathos is a lot of bling ( I like the sound of their amps) but is an error to think that all that crafty bling is not payed
