Grew up with Chargers. A friend drove one into the ground. If I only had a time machine to go back and tell him to take better care.

Mark Worman is looking for his 1970 Dodge Charger. Nice find! 1968 and 69 Chargers are my favorite.

Total metal replacement for the trunk the quarters and the roof skin. And the replacement frame rails and the rear valance. From the firewall back if it's any kind of weak metal pieces or panels? Replace it.

I have a 68 that I bought that I’ve already got $10k just in sheet metal. You can either go through the pockets for a solid car or buy a basket case that needs it all. Either way you go, Chargers aren’t a friend to your wallet…

My favorite year is 69 because I still have my parents 69 Charger from new and it’s all original except for the magnum 500’s but it also has the 383 H-code engine Survivor car and those taillights are what makes those 69 Charger’s my favorite and the different grill.

Replacing the frame rails would be easier than repairing , as most body panels and components are readily available .

Dodge charger's mostly rot out around back window area because lower window trim >shaped like a boomerang < hold's water behind it and leaf's and expecially pine needle's. Also because of design of area, air can't just blow across to dry so it stay's wet. After a rust hole start's all water goes in trunk and eventually rot's out trunk. A 1969 Charger >SE< package has leather front bucket seat's/ wood grain dash/ woodgrain steering wheel/Chrome rocker molding/ vinyl top.1960-1973 Mopar's used .020 gauge metal twice what today's vehicle's use.

68 is my favorite with 69 a hair close 2nd. Most informative. Man, they sure do seem to tend towards a lot of rust. Top 5 in my best of all Muscle/Pony car list. Haha.

1968 was the game changer for Charger. My Dad, when I was 12 brought home a Triple green Charger. It was only a 318 but it looked like no other car made. Thanks for your video!

I read a motor trend article once saying these cars would be cheap to make if they dusted off the old blueprints and mass produced them again today. Around $8K cost to the manufacturer at scale. They were simple cheaply made cars. The way they manufacture cars today is about packing as much crap into the cars as they can. More stuff to profit off of. They sell people on the idea under the guise of safety, conveinence and comfort. So instead of new cars costing $12-$14K they cost $40-$50K. I wonder what would happen if they made new '69 Chargers and sold them for $14K new. Would you buy the modern style Charger for $40K or the classic style Charger for $14K ?
@backyardbarnfinds
@backyardbarnfinds Год назад
They made the new electric chargers look like these cars.. way ahead of any other electric car company.. they will all be the same only difference will be the style..
@urbandisturbin
@urbandisturbin Год назад
@@backyardbarnfinds yeah I saw those. They're ok. They'll be expensive inefficient electrics packed with all kinds of unnecessary crap I don't want or need. They look tall fat and plasticy similar to the newer challengers. Lol idk I just don't like the modern age cars. Prefer old ones from before all the bs federal regulations ruined the designs

Dodge Chargers were not body on frame construction. They were uni bodies. So those are not true framerails. They are part of the support structure of the car. I would definitely restore this 69 Charger, mostly because I love my Mopars.

Old Mopars are beautiful cars but very expensive to restore. They are usually very rusty. They were not put together very well at the factories and not rust proofed. A lot of bare metal left on the undersides.

I bought my 69 dodge charger in 1988 from the original owner. I found my broadcast sheet in 2022 barely! I had no idea they were placed there. It so happened that I was replacing my seatbelts with other ones that were in a lot better condition than mine. We located the broadcast sheet in the back seat. Greatest feeling ever, it only had a small tiny tear in the middle. My charger has been garage since I bought it, that's probably why the broadcast sheet survived.

Poor old Charger.....I'm in shock ? I mean I was aware many of the Eastern cars rotted/rusted.... but I guess this is one of the first times I've actually seen one documented/shown in detail. Do people actually 'restore' examples like that ?

I would start making a list for AMD and yes replace that old frame sections .Oh by the way I think Marks car was a 318 auto SE.. I am a 69 Camaro guy but like you I like 69 Charger's and 71 Cude's witch i own one .I am a little bit older that you .I grew up in the 70's and was a very young boy when these cars where new but I remember them new in the dealers. I also own a 1970 GTO .I realty like all the cars from the 70's but 69 Camaro's have been my passion I have owed 6 over a 38 year pried.
