In 2008 I ordered from the factory a manual 5 speed H3 with the Off-road/Adventure package (larger tires, lower range transfer case and diff lockers) and a sunroof. Now 12 years later, it still runs well and I still like driving it.
@@ConnerV Once the drain for the sunroof froze in the winter, plugging it and it overflowed in the truck. I think if you keep the gutter around the sunroof clean it will be fine. Other than that one incident, my sunroof still works fine.
Bought one in 07 for my wife. In 15 years it might have been driven 20 miles on dirt. Last year she only put about a thousand miles on it. Bulletproof little 4x4 has never been in the repair shop except for oil changes and regular maintenance. Soon to be a collector!
Nice looking rig. I have a 2006 with inline 5. I love it on the roads and off the roads in the nortwest. It won't win any drag races but then not made for it. This rig almost weighs 5000lbs and weight seems distributed very well. I have pulled neighbors out of ditches a few times even on black ice. When your driving off road it's not a matter of your hp its how you drive it. Happy 4x4ing.
I got the same. 2006 H3 now in yellow with 208,000 miles. Love it. Keeping it forever. It does constanly have the engine light going off and gas cost obviously is rough. Paid a good amount in 2006 but it has only cost me $3,000 per year over the last 16 years in depreciation. Compare that to buying a new SUV at $50,000 to $70,000 today which will kill you in depreciation costs. Now fully depreciated and low maintenace cost.
2006 Hummer H3 owner, bought used with 132k and spent about 4k fixing normal wear and tear items plus valve cover gasket, power steering pump and radiator. The 3.5 5cyl is underpowered but i solved that with E15 gas with 15% ethanol. You can feel the torque and difference in pickup. Gonna get it ready for off roading. Not a cheap vehicle to own but not the most expensive either. I paid cash for mine and will keep a long time.
415,000 km and I’m going to travel across Canada with a trailer on this summer. That’s how confident I am with this rig. Such a gem of a vehicle honestly. Last year I was on Wellington street with the freedom convoy, not much km’s added but it ran 23 days off and on idling for many hours for heat and power. I fix everything as it goes and keep a spare old truck. Wish me luck 🍀 should be a blast this summer.
Dude! What an awesome review. I have two H3s and would have loved to found this one 4 years ago. I hope you are fabulously successful in your business.
Highly recommend a Hummer. Zero problems from two 2007 with 110,000 and 121,000 miles. Would love to find a H2 in great shape that is in the mid teens.
@@anthonymay1280 i hope you will find a good H2, my brother is looking now for jeep grand Cherokee wk 2010 3.7 engine 4wd but without 4 low mode, i found Hummer looks more better on look style and offroad capable
Some things people don't know, is the 5 speed gets 20 MPG on the highway. It has the same turning ratio as a jeep. It also has electro-mechanical steering and brakes. That means if the engine ever stalls, you can steer and brake just fine.
THIS IS THE BEST H3 REVIEW I'VE COME ACROSS! I have been researching & browsing the h3 for months. I am so eager to buy, but I dont want to buy a dud. I live in MT and I have to shop out of state because there are only 3 in the entire state. I've been looking for 08-2010 with either Alpha or adventure package. I want the cast iron front differential and with the locker comes the 4:1 transfer case. I've been shunning away from the 06-07 years because I read they have valve problems causing blown head gaskets. What is your HONEST opinion about the 06-07 models vs 08-10? Would love your opinion! Anyone else want to chime in, would love your input as well!
Love love my Hummer H3. Only problem is an over heating problem and still can’t figure it out after replacing a number of parts. He is now my winter rig so don’t worry about the problem.
That’s pretty normal for the h3 and many of them run a little past the middle temperature line. No big deal. Mine has for 8 years. It’s just how they run. You can look it up online. I read years ago that you can upgrade to a thicker aluminum radiator and that brings them temp gauge down.
You sound like a very capable car salesman... I am impressed. You sound as you really know and understand this vehicle ! Nicely Done ! Liked/Subscribed ! *LET'S GO BRANDON !*
I bought an 06 H3 with the 5 speed Manual transmission 2 days ago... The Clutch was slipping real bad when I took it for a test ride.... that was a deal breaker for me... the car dealership agreed to install a new Clutch Set (Clutch, Pressure Plate, Slave Cylinder throw out bearing and Flywheel ! I am thrilled... but, I have to wait an extra week to get my new toy ! 130,000 miles on it... No leaky Sun Roof either, I didn't want a Sun Roof anyway...gonna mount 2x330 watt Solar Panels up there ! *LET'S GO BRANDON !*
@@Darylrb1983 I do like my 2006 Hummer H3 a lot. The manual 5 speed transmission is great. The 5 cylinder 3.5 liter is a bit under powered but fine for my usage. I am only getting a little under 15mpg combined so I am not thrilled with that. I have a 2002 VW Jetta TDI that gets 52mpg hwy...so I am a little spoiled !
@@Snailmailtrucker hey man, I've got a chance to buy a 2007 h3 manual transmission. no rust. I haven't checked it out yet, but lets say it needs a clutch and all the stuff you replaced with your clutch set like yours mine will have about 130k miles. How much is it worth if it doesn't need replacement and how much should I pay if it does need a clutch set?
Omg you have an e39 5 series in the background? I have to see that! Also the Buick on the other side I don't think you've don't it yet. The one that looks like it has fangs lol.
Does GN care about their customers when buying your product 2006 Hummer ignition problems key gets stuck in ignition when turned off why isn't there a recall
Many hummer h3 2006 to 2008 owners are reporting problems with the cold start rough idle when starting the engine causing decreased power in acceleration. The cause of this is a faulty seat valve or wear and tear over time. GM needs to recall the faulty seat valve. I’d skip out on trying to own a 2006-2008 hummer h3 model. Price to repair seat valve could run you up to 3,000 to 5,000 dollars.good luck of your warranty is expired.
Seat valve? Did you mean valve seat? Nah... Long before any valve issues...it's usually either a dirty MAF sensor or the oil from PCV vent tube mucking up the throttle body/tps sensor. Clean those and it usually takes care of the rough idle issue. The valve seat thing would be much less common.
"Narrow windows, so don't supersize your Happy Meal." "Nice simple cupholders, they won't break like they do on German cars" Oh my man this guy is the perfect straight man.
I have an H3 only had 67 500 on it and I already needs front seals for the axle differentials it’s leaking transmission fluid and the brakes need to be redone the skid plate rattles can’t say I really like it I like the interior up front and the hatch in the rear other than that it’s a piece of shit
I wish I’d bought one of these instead of my 07 Jeep Wrangler Sahara which is the WORST vehicle I’ve ever owned. Not to mention, the “cheap jeep” interior/ride makes you feel like a peasant. Just my experience owning a plethora of makes across the board. Might still get the long lost Hummer….after rolling the Jeep off a cliff on fire.
