Right? Cripes!! STFU and tell us the *PERTINENT* info!! I letf the video after 2 minutes and went to the website. $350??... I'd rather have 1,000 rounds of IMI 5.56 And by the way, those speakers are not protected enough, someone's toddler going to poke their finger through one.
1. You talk to damn much.. 2. You never played it.. 3. You said USP port, it's USB port.. 4. The two different amperage options is for IPhone and Android, they have different requirements for charging.. 5. You don't charge a laptop through USB.. 6. You sound like you don't know what you're talking about, you just ramble on and on.. 6(b). If you're going to pitch something, do more research 7. You only told us it was an ammo can like 10 times.. 8. I highly doubt it's a motorcycle battery, odds are its a dry cell battery.. 9. You talk too much and I'm sick of pointing out your shortcomings..
That is Dope, Big Ups to All Veterans, its Memorial day, and start of Fleet Week (HOOYAH). I served over 30 years ago during Desert Storm in The US Navy. Those lost in battle, or passing of time, and VETS who are struggling, remember thats what the VA is there for, and they will take care of your medical needs, mind and body.
There was this invention some time back called a smartphone, and it stores and plays music just fine. For $350, I can add a bunch of wireless bluetooth speakers all over my house. I could even put one in an ammo can for free.
Weirdly, I think, $350 is both reasonable and too expensive. $350, and I'm guessing its largely handmade and hand assembled, isn't too bad time/labor/some profit wise, but at $350 if you took your time even with minimum knowledge, you could probably do a close approximation or even a one with more functionality since all it is is a glorified speaker. ...so yeah it seems to butt up against that price point of being roughly accomplishable DYI project but reasonable to price it at if you are the one building them for other people. There is a fair amount of wasted space in there too with some pointless complexity. ...now I'm eyeing some of that old electronic equipment in the corner of the room, the raspberry pi, and the mostly empty ammo can. lol....guess there is another idea to throw on the back burner of projects....
Can see a few issues with this build, though cool it is. Usb input should be on the outside for quick access with the lid down or slightly open to show very cool power and blue tooth switches , Speakers need a protective cover just in case of little fingers going where they shouldn't, don't really see the point of a power display? A coloured LED would be just as useful and cost less, external charging should also be on the outside. Maybe also have a LED display and a toggle for playing off of a usb to skip and select tracks. Just my 2 cents :)
Most of the time a wired connection has much better sound quality than Bluetooth. I do own one Bluetooth adapter that is awesome, very high tech, made by a sound engineer that is equal in quality to a wired connection.
In the interest of full disclosure; One could put a gaming P.C. within a 50-cal ammo can at the cost of $400 (I certainly did)... There is no logic-based reason for this product to cost $399 + Shipping. I've conducted a search for the requisite components to assembly an identical device *(Excluding the L.A.S.E.R. Etching)* ; Witch yielded results projecting a final cost of $82+ shipping. *_It would be quite understandable if one wished to purchase this device in order to support our veterans;_* However, there seems to be no other legitimate reason to charge nearly $320 in labor.
***** Yes... I'm quite sure. Operating under the assumption that one was willing/able to perform the work themselves; It would be verifiably true that a device of identical or superior quality could be constructed for under $100 ($82 before shipping) The requisite electronics for such a build could not exceed $20; as a result of this, the bulk of the cost would be consumed by the speakers and the ammo can itself. P.S. A single Micro-ITX board (From 6 years ago) could handily provide superior support for: U.S.B. ports, _ALL_ Voltage controls, Native Dongle-Free BlueTooth support, LCD readouts, AUX input, Internal SSD for music storage, multi-card reader, all whilst requiring less space than discrete nodes for each feature.
spikec ***** Actually I did build one... There is in fact; a good chance that your "original Idea" was spurred on by studying _my_ creations, or derivative works... But what do i know... You guys have been at this for *_"almost 1 year"_*... I'm only the first person to construct such a device (in the late 90's), and i only have 23 years of combined hardware hacking experience. But what do i know...
***** Furthermore; I don't appreciate the fact that you are using *_MY DESIGN_* for this in CLEAR violation of the agreement to not use it for commercial purposes... I released my design to the "Case Modding" community in the hopes that people would see my ideas and build them themselves... *_You do NOT need a CNC machine, powder gun, or even a drill press_*. You'd only need that if you planned on mass producing the device. My plans (*witch you liberally plagiarized*) called for a top plate that one could cut with a hand nibbler, and drilled with a hand drill (Using only 2 different bits). This is a carbon copy *(Right down to the switches)*. *If your going to copy someone... At least have the decency to **-FUCKING-** do it right...* For example; where is the potentiometer based volume knob? Where is the card reader? Where is the internal storage?
Nice built speaker but the price is insane. That connecting sound of the BT Module clearly indicate it's a cheap one from China like all the switches and other stuff mounted. you can DIY build this for under 100 Bucks. And you should use a VRLA battery instead of a motorcycle type.
Glock Gaston It's designed in America; BY ME! They are _ILLEGALLY_ selling someones registered intellectual property. I wouldn't be surprised if they *_"INVENTED"_* an accompanying MP3 player called the *"My-Pod"*; Witch I'm sure would look and function in total congruency to a certain Apple product. But don't worry... They'll likely laser etch there name on it, CNC cut each button, _AND_ powder coat the face plate; so that they can justify price gouging the people to the tune of $350-to-$400.
Only problem I see with this is that when its blasting in your car and your pulled over by the cops and they tell you to turn it down, you reach in the back to unplug it and they see it and shoot your ass and your dead. Other wise its pretty cool.
Dang bro nice long winded explanation...would of been nice to hear some sound come out of it. I built my own, used a pyle blue tooth 90 w amp and marine grade speakers.
At $550 Canadian after shipping, I'll keep putting my iPhone in a Pringles can lol. That is so effin' cool..... but just seen the price..... Hoooolaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay
Been thinking about doing one up to handle my HAM Base. I have one I built many years ago that is a Voltage Distributor AC/DC for powering/testing Electronic Circuits and Components. It's in a .30 Cal Can.
Thank you for stealing 12 minutes of my life. God forbid you play music on the (350$) radio so we can hear the badassery flow from the Bose (sucks) speakers.
***** Hey Curt !... I saw this on Pete's channel and ended up here.. I have an idea though.. Maybe with all the preppers out there you could have a version with a LED flashlight on the side and even have a red lens for emergency applications and/or night time signature reduction.. My portable 12v pack for my telescope gave me the Idea,.. just a a thought!!
Made an entire sound system with CD player mounted in ammo cans back in the 80s in Berlin to use in my M35a2 when parked for long periods of time, used a walkman when driving. The whole system had to be able to be removed and be in ammo cans for stealth.
That's crazy. $350 for a speaker in a ammo can that you won't be able to hear when you are shooting. Ammo can-$20, motorcycle battery-$50, Bose speakers with Bluetooth -$150, wasting your money on this, priceless. I bet it weighs 20 lbs. I knew it had problems when you said it has a motorcycle battery. They are not designed for multiple discharges like that. Should have used a power wheels battery or maybe power tool battery designed for this type of application. I really don't see it's usefulness. It's more of a trinket. There isn't a need for it in my opinion. Then again, that's just my two cents. To each their own.
You just admitted it's pure value is $220 (and you forgot the charging system to monitor and charge the motorcycle battery and supply the 5V for the USB) and that's fine. But don't forget you're also paying for the cool factor, labor and fact you're supping vets who are custom making these and surely that's worth it for some folks.
The thing is.. It's a badass ammo can, but doesn't even store ammo at least not that I've seen from this video. Like a $350 ammo can?, get past the cool buttons and tell me if it can be used for the purpose that's in the name xD
I have one, it's heavy as fuck. but around the barracks everyone has the same reaction to it. the battery life is long even when you go full blasts. the fuse is a 5Amp. the one thing I had to do is super glue the rubber stoppers on the bottom. you want those because if you don't have them the unit will rattle like hell
Had to have one. A bit pricey but I'm considering using it as a remote system for varmint calling. So much consumer crap out there and this thing just freaking rocks. The sound absolutely amazed me!! Tried making one years ago from a commercial electrical box and sounded like shit
i would recommend you add some kind of flap with gasket, like the ammo can lid, to the speaker holes, latching, to give it true ruggedness and waterproofing. You can probobly epoxy on a good lid to make a good looking after market modification. .. just use some rtv and some rtv release compound to make a gasket.. or cut one.
shame to use fairly high quality components (though i am suspicious of the little voltmeter! I would use a analog display lol) while leaving it vulnerable to the elements like that :(
and i am curious about the choice of SLA battery, rather then a lithium one. Less chance of a fire hazard I suppose, which is good if you want to store it along with flame sensitive materials... however i would not fancy a battery leaking acid fumes! perhaps a case could be made for the nickle metal hydride battery.. despite its flaws..
and full sealing might be a problem if moisture is allowed to get into the unit and then trapped in there.. that would turn into a pain in the ass with desiccant or requiring full weather resistant construction.. unless you just make note to store it open...
add a grill to the speakers too protect them....just a matter of time b4 they get punctured. otherwise....very kool. seriously....the lack of a grill is major flaw.
Very cool project. I would think that a LiPo battery would be a better choice and it's HALF (or less) the weight! I have tried the SLA batteries and they do work but like someone else said, they are not designed for this. I also agree that the $350 price is just right and too much at the same time. It all depends if you have the time/skills to do it yourself. I have seen several of these and this is one of the best.
It's really cool, but as much as I like things with led blinky lights and switches, I couldn't see me using it more than once and that would be just to see how it works..... I guess the only reason I'd buy something like this would be to support our veterans....
Interesting idea. I have been thinking of making a portable Comms box and at the moment I have plans to build one using a mini gun ammo can which opens both ends. I was looking at putting various charge and power sockets . I am looking at putting a multiband CB and a Ham radio along with sockets on the front and the back end will have antenna sockets and stowage for a T2TL antenna. I was going to use extension speaker's but think I re design front for a internal ext speaker
If they could make a waterproof version that could float (or at least not sink like a rock), this thing would be AMAZING for smaller boats. Nonetheless, this is a great idea.
Omg. These have been out forever. Hey guys I love and support the military. I know more than most what happens over there. I had to deal with the consequences. My brother was blown up by ied in 2004. Lost his right eye and almost both legs.he was bed ridden for a year. So don't u fuckers dare say a god damn word about me and the military. I just don't like when people freak out like this because vets made it. Hey boys you know I'm proud. so don't take it the wrong way. Jesus fuck. it's a radio
Get the cost down to $200-$250, then I would be ok. But for $350, I'm thinking I could get a head start on a sweet new AR build, or just buy 6 stripped lowers and be ready to profit if Killary wins... Just sayin...
***** You have *_NAKEDLY_* infringed upon my registered intellectual property rights as the inventor of this technology. I demand that you state that this product is a *Derivative work based on UltraNerdyHackerGuy's original design*, in your websites "Story" section, or i *_WILL_* seek legal damages; as I have not given permission for my specs to be sold commercially... P.S. You have sixty(60) days to comply before legal action is taken.
i feel it's a bit expensive for what it is but you can argue it with the labor I guess. Thats just my honest opinion. It's not bad though I would, myself, make my own if I were to do something like this - just because I like a project and it seems like something I could do.. Good luck with sales though brother.
Over all it looks pretty nice and be fun to take it to work. As far as taking it outdoors though I would be a little nervous. .50 ammo can solid as a rock, good rubber seal but the weak area I see is the speakers. They are exposed to the elements and if it rained or you were carrying it there would be a good chance of puncturing the speakers. They also need a cover with a waterproof seal around them to keep them protected. Outside of that they are kool looking besides providing power for some applications I do not see a real world application for them. Would not be worth much as part of my bug out gear and from what I saw the speakers do not have any amplification capability except what would be provided by the device hook up to them. Did I miss something?
RU-vid drops ads right into a video now?!? I'm not talking a little banner, it interrupts the video, stops it to play the ad that you cannot turn off, and then restarts it. C'mon, RU-vid!
No demo? Cool speakers, but problem with ammo audio and thodio speakers is that they're too costly. I built a 30 cal bluetooth speaker box for under $100 and it blows away any portable bluetooth speaker off the shelf. If you need more bump, it'd cost you $12 more for a 100 Watt amp. These guys are just low balling people who don't know any better or are getting low balled themselves to keep up with production cost.
