I had one of the first LS3's in Melbourne in 2008 In a HSV Maloo Ute. I could do 90km to a tank around town if having a crack!. Rear tyres didn't last long either and the 20's were $1000 AUD each at the time.

Known in South Africa as the Chevrolet Lumina SS, it also comes in a "Bakkie" (pick up truck) known as the UTE...so much anger and no weight at the back...in manual it`s terrifying!

The old monaro which this replaced they did a very limited run called the vxr 500 6.0ltr supercharged instead of the 6.2ltr naturally aspirated in this but they did a supercharged version of this the Bathurst screaming supercharger whine on it

LS2 is a tough motor, the later 6.2 LS3 made a bit more power & torque plus had a few tweaks (better heads, cam) but not much in it really. LS7 (7.0L version of the LS used in the C6 Z06 Corvette) clutch is a normal upgrade which takes a lot more agro but retains the factory pedal weight & feel. It has a specific flywheel which adds to the cost but parts are well under a grand. Gearboxes can be a bit clunky/noisy especially on the earlier versions (T56). Again the later the better as they fixed things as they went (TR6060 was the later type box). Not sure how bad the VXR8s were for rust but the earlier cars do suffer quite a bit in the UK climate as the rustproofing wasn't brilliant from the fsctory. That's quite a sleeper in silver.

Nice man, Lotus Carlton can do 0-60 in 5s and 180mph (after about a week) not bad for their age, these can't be compared to the Legend though.
