This is my partners feed. Thank you guys for going there and posting your record. At least there is some photographic record of the Inn in its last throws which for me and many others is a very sad moment! I used to live opposite this pub and my family have all been connected to it. My dad was head chef in the sixties and I recognize areas of the kitchen and the servery leading into the Tudor ballroom used for dinner and dances and discos in the seventies. The original inn I believe was built in the thirteenth century and was the front bar nearest the road. Under that flooring board is stone flags from the original Mediaeval Inn. The builder ( I do not know his name) in the forties used reclaimed church and medieval building salvage as a result of the second world war to extend and build this mega-pub. It was frequented from people far and wide especially from London for dinner/dances and weekly discos etc.. The Round table were regular customers and held many events there. There was even a weekly Antique market held there during the eighties. I used to be the cloakroom attendant during the seventies! My sister was a waitress and my mother a bookkeeper. It would be lovely to see the Inn restored but otherwise the fixtures and timbers and stained glass should be going to museums or into research. Who knows what secrets they may hold?! Many timbers may have come from Tudor ships originally. Please get someone involved like National Heritage or National Trust at least to be part of the demolition which is obviously what the the developers want! Thank you

You know all this information, the location, & you expect the trespassers to contact public authority figures to reclaim the antiques. Its my understanding that these guys simply intrude, goofoff some, show their vids on youtube so that such public figures are overwhelmingly notified by viewers like yourself to somehow save the antiques legally.

If it’s a listed building the reinstatement could be prohibitively expensive, ironically.

The placement of that window looking inwards means that is where the great hall would have been in the original Tudor building (the dining hall) it enabled the young females to discreetly watch the proceedings without having to come into contact with those dining! The stairs would never have been there!

Why? And why should it be ruined" like all UK old traditional property's ,in village's, towns,,city's etc or ehh made in to wine bars,, its absolutely terrible, beautiful property's as example"" old own halls with beautiful windows ,staircases, we see foreign videos about there delightful towns, city's property there history,,we say"" oh isn't beautiful "" We British knock them down, build a ugly square box type,or now,,industrialized shipping containers,,

I 2nd this opinion. I love the old stuff, the rich history, BIG SHAME the black has yet to be treated & this place left too rot. What would it take to buy it, responsibly remove to an onsite warehouse the added antiques from the 50s onward, ( for research & museums ) And restore the pub into it's likeness from say....the 1700s? ( With all the original parts still intact. )

I'm left feeling so sad and angry that such an historic and beautiful building can be left to deteriorate to this degree. It is our history, our legacy that this be preserved. Our government should be helping the hospitality industry to survive. It is an essential part of our culture.

What a beautiful place you found for the video today. The amount of stained glass is phenomenal. I've never seen an abandoned place with so much "real" leaded stained in one place. I wonder how old they are. A lot of the rooms are incredibly large, almost as if it was for an entire village for meeting or other reasons. I think looking at the inside of this building is much bigger that it looks like from the outside. The structures had many buildings and rooms added on over the centuries. At least the architecture was kept in place with the additional structures. This was a wonderfull adventure. Thank you all very much for this beautiful and incredible tour.

The escallop shell is a traditional symbol for baptism. The three drops of water coming off the shell remind us that we are baptized “in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 28:19; LSB, p. 270) Water flows generously from the shell, to drown the old Adam. The red streaks in the water remind us of the blood of Christ Jesus, shed for us to wash us clean and bring us newness of life. Gold is metallic yellow and related to prestige/ high status/wealth. Gold is the colour and metal given to winners.

What a terrible waste. That building has been there for 750 years! And now people are just going to let it rot away!? Hell atleast let the good architectural piece be reclaimed for something else.

Ive been told that this beautiful building has now been demolished (to build 64bed nursing home) I cant understand if this is true how the authorities allowed this to happen and not save/ preserve the history... Is anyone albe to confirm?

You guys seem to be very unprofessional. I'm sorry but you dig through people's things and you never take the time to show your audience the houses you go in . Seems like you just clumsily run through giggling and shuffleing through
