A lot of owners say they actually prefer it off. Apparently it doesn't feel any different at the rear but the front is more stable at higher speeds. I've never driven an evo while the wing was off though so not sure.

I actually didn’t think the lag was that bad to be fair. What’s referred to as the boost threshold ie. Waiting for the turbo to come on boost in a pull is more or less what you’d expect from a turbo of that size but in between gears I didn’t think there was much lag at all. Such an incredible machine

What a mad build. It shows how much technology has moved on. When I built my 700bhp evo 6 in 2011 I went through a 5 speed every 6 weeks 🤣 That's a lovely build. That shifter is a thing of beauty as well. Nice one! 💪
The 5 speed gearbox is the same, they only changed it when they hit the 6 speed. 5 speeds are stronger and never changed. Must be the way you drive it dude
Lol …Yeah that’s what I worry about when launching it. I don’t do it often. The transfer box is usually the first to go so Iv heard… touch wood mines not gone yet. I do love these cars… I’d never sell it. Gotta love the 5s and 6s. In my opinion they’re the best ones out the whole 10 generations 👍
@TopCat absolutely. I mean I built a lot of evos back in the day. 5,6,7 and 8's and the gearboxes were always the weak spot. You need a decent sequential in reality to survive. Even at 500bhp the clocks ticking. I'm sorting my daughters mother's evo 8 now but it's still not as raw as a 6 👌

Super sweet evo you should do a run against the rsx I bet the rsx on 800hp will give it a run for it’s money and if it makes around the same power as the Evo it’s game over the in between shifts will kill it

My friend owns a company called mg auto motorsport in Ripley and he specialises in evos. I remember one of his evo 8s with 900 bhp and basically every 1000 rpm it was 100 hp increase on the dyno

Awesome evo! Jamie would love to see a Clio Williams from the early 90s on the channel and send it to space. One of the best handling cars you will ever drive. Only 150hp stock but you could have fun modding it or swapping blocks and send it to the moon. They are a hoot on track. Love to see what you could do with one! Awesome content mate.
