I'm honestly so happy that Grey took the time to not only correct the video in terms of script, but make additions relevant to the new information he came upon so that the compiled info on the testing facility was completely correct and tied together with how this new information impacts the subject. I think some jokes might have been removed from the original script, but I can't put my finger on it. Regardless, I think Grey did a good job with this. Awesome, just awesome video! As someone who blundered into an abandoned nuclear munitions site when exploring as a kid, I can relate to the excitement and the later realization of possible dangers that might have caught me without warning. I was horryfied when 15 year-old me finally understood I was standing where a couple of years ago a big pile of nuclear bombs had been stored. Having limited knowledge of those things I left ASAP out of fear of radiation or dangerous chemicals. Only 10 years later I realized there was no danger. Still it gives me goosebumps to think what would have happened in case of WW3 - those nuclear munitions were 155mm artillery rounds for guns stationed about 5km away from my home. Their range was about 25-35km, and the strategy of that time had them planned for almost immediate use. So I would have felt that, if I had survived at all. Greetings from Germany

Well, that’s kind of the point. No one has ever made 0 mistakes. When you get good at doing something, you often learn to avoid them or learn to embrace them out of necessity. It doesn't matter how smart you are, how thorough you intend to be, there's usually always someone that knows a little more about a subject your researching than you do, and honestly It's not always about how well you can avoid mistakes but how well you can respond to them when they inevitably come up.

Ya Boy hootis8 Fun facts: There were 24 Ohio class commissioned 18 were built, 4 were then converted to launching the humble tomahawk. Leaving 14 of which were limited from 24 missiles to 20 then to 16(I think). This was because of START, then maybe New START which I don't know if it ever came to be. Fun Fact 2: The British nuclear submarines also launch Trident II D5 Missiles and made bombs which are technically on "lease". I wonder what would happen if the UK accidentally "loses" them. They were planning on 6, built just 4. Which could launch 16 missiles but were limited to 12 also a part of START.

In regards to the actual video and not just "algorithm engagement": It's fascinating that the original video assuming Tekoi was making Minutemen missles was already existential dread inducing enough with 1000 nuclear warheads sitting hidden in cornfields, while the Trident just casually amplifies that so that each submarine is basically it's own hidden American cornfields of destruction. The more I learn about the post-nuclear world, the more sure I am that this will somehow be our end.
@brianb.6356
@brianb.6356 4 года назад
Ironically, nuclear submarines probably made both sides of the Cold War considerably less trigger-happy. Before nuclear submarines, if you saw what you thought might be missiles heading for you it was vital to launch a counterstrike as soon as possible: since many of their missiles would no doubt be targeting your silos and airfields, if you didn't counterstrike now, you might never get the chance to counterstrike. This also means that since destruction is not quite mutually assured, both sides have some small incentive to try a quick and out-of-nowhere first strike. But you can't fire a nuclear missile at a submarine since they're both inherently mobile and underwater. And it's easy enough for a submarine to figure out what it means if they surface and there's suddenly no more Russia. That means if you have nuclear submarines, you can take the time to look at the alleged enemy strike and figure out if it's an actual enemy strike (which it definitely won't be) since even if it hits before you give the order to counterstrike, you can still counterstrike.

I live near these silos! Or at least what remains of them. Most farmers simply use them as “parking lots” for tractors and farm equipment now. But you can always tell them by the fenced off areas. There’s even a few places with unused radar bases left! At least… I think most of them were taken o and concreted over… My dad told me a story once about how when he was younger they had to lift one out due to a fire to put out the fire in the silo

I'm just commenting to boost the algorithm. The Tekoi site is one of many government contracts that developed weapons in the cold war era. There is crazy tech stuff that has been sitting on a shelf waiting for the right war since the Vietnam war. When the Apache helicopter came out for the military, it was already obsolete with the Comanche stealth helicopter. You can't imagine the things that they have now, just waiting for the right war.

I have lived in Utah for the majority of my life and I'm about 30 ish minutes away from this area and I had no idea that this nuclear deployment site so close to Salt Lake City even existed, which also means if we ever engage into a nuclear war with another country that also has nuclear weapons or WMD, that the end results for those who live in Salt Lake City or the area surrounding this nuclear deployment site will either be obliterated instantly from the nuclear devices AOE( Area of explosion) and the radioactive heat wave that companies the initial explosion or if they are not obliterated then they will be majorly affected by the nuclear fallout and radiation depending on their proximity to the area the nuclear bomb was dropped which will eventually cause various forms of radiation sickness that will then affect a person for the remainder of their lives in various different ways including cancer and damage to their DNA cell structure or may even result or heavily influence their untimely passing but that is largely depending on their proximity to the initial area in which the nuclear device or WDM was dropped, which again, all of this will be directltly and/or indirectly caused by the explosion of the nuclear bombs resulting radioactive heat wave and nuclear fallout that comes after the radioactive heat wave.
@KimballCody
@KimballCody 2 года назад
Why was there zero radiation fallout in Japan?
@kemlogikal4240
@kemlogikal4240 2 года назад
@@KimballCody So I am Japanese and had family affected by WW2, Which event are you speaking about exactly? the bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki during WW2? or the Fukushima Power Plant explosion? or what event specifically? because all of the nuclear events that have happened in Japan have left some sort of radioactive fallout and after-effects like the nukes dropped on Japan during WW2 had affected japans population within that area for the rest of some of those peoples lives and some may have affected their families for generations and the ww2 nukes are significantly less destructive than what we have today, Lil boy and Fat man were roughly 15 kilotons of dynamite and 20 kilotons of dynamite each as opposed to modern nuclear bombs (which is what I am referencing in my OP) that are roughly 455kt of dynamite (US Trident) and 800kt of dynamite ( Russia SS), which would yield a much bigger explosion radius and much more nuclear fallout if detonated today and compared to the nukes dropped during ww2 are 3,000 times more destructive so think about the scale and after-effects if something like that were to be detonated today either near or on a densely populated city, L.A. Cali wouldn't exist if that were to happen.

The fact that he messed up the first draft makes this edition way more memorable and educational. He taught us not only what TEKOI is, but also how to address mistakes.

Lol, imagine building the whole infrastructure to test, analyze and record rocket engine results just to have a pole smack dab in front of the camera....

I worked for Hercules in the 1980s as a forester (woodbuyer). A great company. The company logo (Hecules holding a club, wearing a lion pelt as a cape) was beautiful, had his image on my company truck doors.
