All my years on earth and I had absolutely no idea that their was such a thing as people building houses inside of airplane hangers lol that’s brilliant
Yup! They’ve been available for some time now. Same thing as a storage facility/house for your cars right on a racetrack. There’s secret ones at famous race tracks (like the Nürburgring in Germany), Tracks in Texas, Cali and new York built specifically for a racetrack community designed by famous race track designers, etc etc etc. The world is full of so much cool stuff that we haven’t, and some will never, hear or see of!!

@@LigerSupremacy Lol, Imagine if Vice Grip did planes: "Well I have this old Cessna 172 that hasn't run in 30 years, so I'm gonna do the right thing and get 'er runnin', then I'm gonna fly 'er across the Atlantic..."
Are you related to my good friend Sir Miles Axelrod? He's not the most likeable guy but has a lot of spark. He may not be a gas at parties but he can really light up a room.
Not gonna lie, Wizard makes me crack up when he mentions Hoovies car bills with that big smile on his face everytime. Regardless, The Car Wizard is awesome and I enjoy watching his channel as much as I enjoy Hoovies.
Same here. All of these guys are a great bunch and the Car Trek series is just wonderful. I literally never watch TV anymore because there’s so much amazing content on here.
There are a few cheap MiGs floating around from time to time ($50K or less). But buying and owning are two very different things... If Hoovie thinks replacing Lambo and Ferrari parts is bad...
Not true at all. There are tons of us in every small town and city that have automotive showrooms/garages. Mine, here at the house, holds 10 in the showroom and 6 in the garage, which is basically an extension of the showroom. My neighbor has one as well across the street that holds 8 and another neighbor that has one that holds 12.
@@thelastmemphian These large, private showrooms are WAY more common than you think. Just pointing out his comment about, "said no one" is FAR from reality. They're in every small town and city across the nation.
"You can go up and down the runway as many times as you like. Just every time costs $10,000, because that's the FAA fine" Lmao. That deadpan delivery on that however was priceless. 😂🤣
All it takes is money. If I had tons of money and no other responsibilities, I'd have a few car hangers. Did you know Richard Branson bought his island for only $300,000?
@@manorin And the FAA has a say in what you can and can't store and/or do with a hangar on an airport that takes federal funds. In my neck of the woods the airport verifies that tenants are actually using the hangar to store a plane. No plane and you are out. There were way too many actual pilots looking for a place to store their plane and equally way too many renters using the hangars to store cars, bikes and conducting non-aviation related activities. As someone who is on a legitimate waiting list to rent hangar space, to put an airplane in, I really don't have a lot of sympathy for this discussion.
@@timfountain98 Easy fix - no reason an enterprising individual couldn't just build a hangar house somewhere that isn't an airport. How cool would it be to buy a small acreage and build a hangar house? Very, I think.
@@timfountain98 Simple, move to middle of no where Kansas, where the FAA, Boeing, and the Air Force have a giant history of trying get rid of property they no longer need. Air Fields are all over out here. The only waiting list is are you willing to drop the coin for construction.

As a real estate agent and former residential appraiser, I can tell you that garage addition definitely added value to your house Hoovie. Although probably not as much as you paid to build it.
Never discount the money saved by your house selling for market value and fast. The stress relief of your house selling in a week compared to 4 months and 2 price reductions is hard to quantify but worth it. Not to mention when the buyer starts nitpicking everything they want fixed, you can be like, "I am selling as is, if you don't want it I have 3 more buyers lined up that will."
@@snwboardn21 that's definitely true for some people. Others will wait to get the price they want. I've had multiple customers wait many extra weeks for 2-3k more.
@@rhull3939 Extra weeks wouldn't be a problem, but in some places the taxes can get to be thousands of dollars a year and even 3 months can eat that 2-3k.

A van is my only option right now and in getting to the point that i cant drive a car or suv or puckup anymore with my back issues. So ill definitely will be bidding in it.
Summer 2023 and this video has become incredibly ironic. I'd say "goodluck Hoovie" but you really don't need it, you'll be fine. Keep busy and give it time.
I think that’s already Hoovie’s hangar. There is a Car Issues poster framed at 14:30. That’s too personal of an item for him to just be borrowing the place.
Just loaded as many comments as I could, and counted how many people said "hangar" vs "hanger". Results: hangar: 177 hanger: 179 I think it's amazing how balanced it is! Maybe there's some science behind that.

The only reason to fix the Mini is because it's one of the few rare Minis out there. It's about the only Mini that should survive to be a collectors example of the the entire line of new Minis. All the other Minis are just parts cars for this one.
@@docgiggles130 agreed. Minis are money pits no doubt. But I still want one. They are so small and the one I drove was very tossable. And it was a 4 door (still small).

I started my body shop in a hangar in an airport community...it was really cool! Aerobatic planes out practicing almost every day... sail planes rides on the weekends... lots of cool cars..racecars, streetrods, motorcycles, rare restoration projects. Very happy for you...great community of people.
When I was a teenager, my actual dream was to build a giant warehouse type place with an attached apartment that would function as a garage and hanger during the week, and a nightclub on the weekends. I'm hardly surprised I wasn't the only person to have that idea, and I love that somebody actually made that dream come true.
We car guys do some pretty baller stuff, but the airplane/helicopter guys are a whole other level. Entry level for a decent used prop plane is around $150k, a helicopter around $250k and a jet built in the last 30 years starts at about $1 million. The maintenance costs for a helo or PJ are shockingly high. A basic helicopter puts you in the most expensive car at almost any track day :-)
I get this strange feeling Tyler is going to reveal that as his hangar... His excitement, the fact that the place doesn't look lived in, and, it may be a small detail, but that car issues poster... a bit sus.

Many airports require that an aircraft be stored in the hangar due to to "some people" renting them just to use as a storage facility. You could protect yourself from this type of claim by buying me a plane and letting me store it there! A Win-Win . . . well, at least a win for me!
@@ciphergalm1174 It has to do with the enforcement of FAA Order 5190.6B at airports that receive FAA funding (most of them). I am not sure when it was written, but apparently the FAA has gotten much more active about enforcing it. Basically the airport will lose FAA funding if they rent hangars for non-aeronautical use. I was given the exact same answer at several airports a couple of years ago when looking to rent a hangar for my cars. There are some "creative ways" around it though... and with the downturn in the aviation industry and a resulting excess of vacant hangars in some areas, those airports are more receptive to helping with those "solutions". In this case though, I am guessing these are privately owned hangars and there are some sort of guidelines regarding mixed use (home/hangar), but I don't know any of the details on any of that. These could also be some sort of long term land leases that allow for a privately constructed/owned buildings, or it could even be some sort of private land/hangar with airfield access. Where there is money, there is usually a way!
