The Mark W Barker was in port Colborne earlier this year, but that was as far as the ship went.
Today however, she's coming into Port Colborne and heading out on the St Lawrence Seaway for the first time.
As the ship enters Port Colborne, she has to undergo an inspection before she can enter the Welland Canal.
This ship caught the eye of quite a few enthusiasts, many spotters were down in Port Colborne to see Mark W Barker arrive.
I went one further and hung around over 3 hours to watch her enter the Welland Canal, the first part of the St Lawrence Seaway.
The MV Mark W. Barker was built by Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin.
The ship is operated by the Interlake Steamship Company, and was launched in 2022, it is the first U.S.-flagged, Jones Act-compliant ship built on the Great Lakes since 1983.
