Best demo of the Tonemaster SR amp I've yet to find here on YT. Great playing which really helps a lot! I just may grab one up. I've been playing since 1964 and had an original SR back in the day. I think mine even had JBL 10's in it. Sounded amazing but weighed upwards of 100#. ARRGGHH!! I was young and muscled it around. There was no alternative!! Yeah, this demo was great... thank you for posting it and doing such, as the Brit's say, a bully job!!
I was enamored with the Tone Master concept but couldn't really imagine it comparing to my tube amps. I decided to buy the Deluxe Reverb Tonemaster. After 3 days putting it through it paces I just couldn't make the bond so I returned it. I really liked the Super Reverb tube amp so thought I would give the Tone Master a try. Huge difference! Now granted you would expect difference but I honestly believe that by keeping the same speakers as the tube counterpart is what distinguishes it from the other Tone Masters. Night and Day. The only Tone Master emulation worth buying from my perspective.
The crystal clear cleans are a perfect representation BUT where it let's you down is the drive section when pushed is not the same sound or response as the valve amp equivalent but its kinda got its own thing going on which isn't bad at all. I had the original Tone Master and same thing (was improved after update) but that's not to say its bad coz it's not, it's brilliant actually. Takes pedals extremely well and I'm definitely gonna try this model out too. Great guitar playing btw 👌🏼
Just bought one yesterday. Last year I had a Blonde Deluxe Reverb Tonemaster and stupidly traded it. Love this Super Reverb model. The power attenuator lets you play this thing at bedroom levels. And at 36 lbs. I just fired my roadie.
Great review. I love my new Fender Super Reverb TM (thank you Alex Campos at Sweetwater). I had to wait almos a month because this amp is exceeding its sales projections but, after trying it out, I forgot about the wait and focused on enjoying it. I had the valve model in the late 60's but traded it for a Pro Reverb with a flight case due to my frequent air travel back in the years. This amp Is selling so well that Fender just increased its price by $50.00 (law of demand and offer). I highly recommend this amp to any serious musician for live or studio work. Your neighbors will appreciate the attenuator while you practica at home. ;)
I bought a blonde Twin TM used a while ago. It’s been unbelievable for gigs! I would have never hauled a tube Twin around…for too long. The versatility can’t be touched by its tube counterpart. Anyway, just my opinion , but if I had to buy this TM brand new, for the new price, I’d definitely do it. Still love my tube amps as well but they are not as convenient to play live. People also worry about future failure but I’d ask if they worry about their pedals failing too? What makes them think this amp is less durable or whatever than other electronics? Treat the amp like you do your $2000+ Gibson 🫣 and it should last long enough. Solid state amps have been around a looong time…just sayin. I also know you can have the chassis wired up for a custom tube project if it ever was toasted beyond repair. The chassis/cabs/speakers are all well made. If that’s not your thing, I’m sure there will be a builder’s market for it. If you don’t want or like the TM, it’s ok, they still make your favorite tube versions as well. Enjoy!
I'm looking at them, just to have something for in case. After the whole tube shortage scare, you know. But the thing is, when I picture twenty years out . . . it's the tube amps I picture still functioning; not the computer chip amps.
This is an amazing guitarist! Someone please let me know his name I’m an fan and would like to follow his career which I know I’ve been playing for over 50’ years I can tell when they’re the real deal
Yes it does- I own both a real valve '67 Super Reverb and the new Tone Master- the sound is nearly exact. It sounds like a valve amp and just as importantly- it feels like a valve amp.
🤣🤣 what an silly comment. There are literal amp experts who were fooled by thinking they were actual tube amps. They absolutely do play like a tube amp. If they are A/B'd you can maybe tell a slight difference but you can do the same with two seperate tube/valve Super Reverbs because no 2 will sound the same.. To pretend it's anything more than that is just dishonest.
