As I recover from my stroke, I have purchased the Les Paul Custom as yours working on my skills to get my sounds OUT. You Dave Simpson are a direct inspiration for me and we will keep playing . . . To wake another day. . . .
Sounds amazing! I broke down and got me the Blonde Deluxe Reverb tonemaster. Just got it in yesterday. My mind is blown on this thing. It sounds sooooo good. I don't know what it is about it, but I got the good one off the line! Because that thing sounds more than I expected. It almost like a cross between the Deluxe and the Super Reverb. It's so clean and sounds just jaw dropping rich. Yes, this dang this made me not hear the difference between tube and solid state. It sounds exactly like the tube amp in all aspects. I'm floored.
You're playing was sublime, Dave. Your modesty about it is just as inspiring as your playing is 🙂 Thanks for sharing it with us. Any chance that you could play some P90's through that sucker at some point? I love hearing them through everything I can.
I think you made a good choice to add this amp to your stable of amps, its a keeper and pretty much made my mind up that it will be my next amp. Marvelous tones!!! Cheers!!
I finally played one of these a few weeks ago, and I was blown away by how good it sounded and felt. Even took pedals well when I asked the store if I could see how it handled overdrives.
Your playing at the start of this was absolutely fabulous Dave. Right in my wheelhouse. So far up my alley it ought to have been wearing plastic gloves. I listened to it three times before I went on to your lovely speaking-type review part.
@@tonyz4292 Thanks Tony. Been listening to Hendrix since I was 15 (many decades ago!) and that's why Dave's playing here resonated so much with me. It's really good to recommend stuff though, because I might not have heard it and then you would be turning me on to a masterpiece!! Good on you Tony.
That amp sounded huge in a aspects through the video Dave, loved the way how you put multiple guitars through it, but my face would have been the Oswald, overall amazing, and as always super inspirational
Dave!!!!! Dude the voodoo jam just solidified you as a legend. That les Paul jam was cool as hell too. Just sick pick flicking and it sounds like the guitar is spitting tone. Total tone Bonner
Love it. When you said, in your most recent video, that the Super Reverb was one of your favorite amps i assumed you were talking about a tube version. Cool to learn you were referring to a Tone Master. Right now I’m a little annoyed at the whole tube thing because my old CVR has died and I’m not looking forward to the expense of getting it repaired. In the meantime, I’m looking for a fairly inexpensive amp (probably SS) to play around with. Thank you for your suggestions!
Pretty cool how you pull all that off in the beginning with that pick. Like a magician , comes out when needed then smooth as silk gone again. Not a not note missed.
Dave you are just different gravy mate, you should be a superstar guitarist touring the globe, not related to the Hendrix family by any change, great bloke and a stonking guitar player, always a joy mate a proper joy.
Ever since the tone master bassman was announced, this amp came to mind and I have been binging your videos, awesome playing! I absolutely love it, but it’s probably overkill since I never play in bands and live in an apartment. Hope to get your take on the bassman if you ever get a chance!
I have seen some different reviews of different amps by different people ... Your sound is the best.... Then again, your playing is also. Thank you. Now i want this amp instead of a Katana or Champion.
The TM amps maybe don't sound 100% like their valve counterparts, but they sound phenomenal still. The price though, is a hard pill to swallow. BUT, no tubes to change! Hundreds saved right there in the long run.
I really like the video where you were touring that castle. And I love the videos where you're walking down the roads with Queenie. Something about that outdoor stuff, I'd love to see more!
Awesome video as always!! That riff/song starting at 13:10 is absolutely beautiful. Glad you're enjoying the amp man, it's a good one! I actually just sold my last tube amp last week. I've had just about every fender tube amp you can get, and have narrowed it down to the tone master twin. Supers are my favorite fender amp of all time though so I can see myself picking one of these up eventually as soon as my wallet says it's okay..
Thanks Dave. Holding rythms internally and releasing expressions externally the best part of Your kit bro. No bankruptcy there. Kia ora from New Zealand.
Fender has nailed it with the Tonemaster. Haven’t seen one in person, but you know what the demos prove? That the end recorded product will be indistinguishable from a vintage unit.
One of the greated amps ever. My buddy bought in 90' for $1200. We had a friend come over; a real Strat fiend to try it and everyones hairs on their arms and back of neck stood on end. They're magic. Edit, oh wait... I was talking about a 63' that he bought
Wait what?! They made a Tonemaster Super?!! Holy Moley. I gotta hand it to Fender. They took enough core processing power to have had loads of effects, amp sims, and such, but chose to instead to use all that digital jiggery pokery power to just focus on the component modeling of the one legacy amp it's attempting to replicate. It's brilliant actually, and I suspect it very well may be an industry norm in the not so distant future. Fantastic playing as always Dave! Stay gold & Carry On! Cheers!
hey Dave I like your style of playing plus your not arrogant like other you tubers on her that wont speak to somebody unless you pay for there channel love your collection of amps and your playing style its so Hendrixy and bluesy love it
Honestly the fender super champ X2 is a better amp since it's got an the fender amp algorithm in it and it's got tubes so it's better to get a super champ X2 head unit $299 !
@@auntjenifer7774 i have one..too sterile sounding..you can warm it up with old speakers and its then sounds ok,likewise i have a old polytone 102 with dark sounding speakers and i can brighten it up with newer speakers
I bought a tone master, it sounded ok in the store, brought it home, played compared it with my tube amps, immediately brought it back to the store and ended up spending a couple more bucks and got a Princeton reverb.
Just go on reverb and get one for about the same price…. Cheaper if u go silver face which are phenomenal as well.. these tone masters do not sound or feel like a tube amp
There's nothing like 4 10's in an open-back combo and Fender reverb! Did I also mention that I love seeing a demonstrator who doesn't just put all the controls at noon? These days, so many people don't seem to know how to dial in a good tone on an unfamiliar amp...
Hey Dave. Love your vids. Really straight talking no bull crap!! What software do you use to record and edit your vids? I want to get into it but I only have the iPhone 12 and zero knowledge about editing.
I’m finally getting caught up on your last few vids. Still not coming up in my recommended like they used to. So, that’s still happening. Congrats, on the new Fender amp it just sounds like a machine gun at your fingertips literally. I checked out the outdoor videos you did with it. I can really hear some of that Julian Baker influence underneath the surface mixed with all the other great influences on you over the years. Just some of the picking pattern stuff she does that’s soaked in Reverb. I love how you incorporated some more modern stuff into your playing like that. All those musical influences you’ve had over the years have just taken your playing to another level. Just when I didn’t think you could get better. Lol. Glad I got time to catch up, cause I was blown away by some of the new stuff you’ve been doing.
Sounds amazing. I'm very tempted to sell my Bluesbreaker to get one of those but I think I love the Bluesbreaker too much, but Jesus Christ that Tone Master sounds incredible. Would you recommend selling the Bluesbreaker?
Ditto here mate but also check out the smaller VOX Pathfinders... I don't know how they did it but they sound like a Vox AC (on the clean channel) and they take pedals well. It was positioned as a practice amp but there is a simple mod to raise the volume (negates the built in inhibiter) and then add a decent reverb / OD pedal* - Vox tones for under £100 - good enough to record. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VBpWK8tmmBs.html * Note some models have reverb and an OD built in but that maybe where they cut cost. I found my pedals better on the clean channel. You do get volume and gain though and lots of useable space. A real bargain at the budget digital end that still gives decent tone. I think VOX have stopped making them now but you should be able to pick one up used / good condition.
Now I am confused… Just picked up a Blackstar HT-5R mall and the reverb is not what I expected! Now do I send it back and get a Tonemaster or a decent pedal? 🤔
I wish i could have a big Amp collection but the Wife daws the line there. I have a few, a Vox AC 30, a Fender Band master, a H&K Tubemeister and a few solid state combos including a Marshal Lead 12 mini stack. I would buy an Orange but she would notice, they don't hide themselves very well in amongst the gear, she'd notice a sizeable Orange head unit lol.
