Fun fact: The evil corporation in this anime has exactly the same building as studio OLM. And the people behind this anime left studio OLM to create their own studio just before making this anime. Pure coincidence of course. There may be a hidden meaning behind this, but I can't put my finger on it

If you are part of the working class, this anime speaks to one in such a way that it's almost frightening. Even if you aren't a slave to corporate, it's still so relatable.

Zom 100 has the potential what High School of the Dead had to define the Zombie genre (yeah, you heard me right). Ik it was an ecchi/harem anime but the fear and tension of fighting the zombies, saving a child from the zombie of her parents, the psychological effect that a world like that can have on someone, the cluelessness, the moral dilemma all of that really defines what a good zombie anime should bring. Unfortunately, the author passed away and his brother who was the illustrator didn't want to continue the show out of respect and apparently the writer didn't leave any notes for the future storyline either. His brother instead incorporated some of the characters in his own different manga and I was like, realistically wouldn't continuing his brother's manga be a better tribute and respect? Getting some kind of closure to the story would've definitely been appreciated by the fans instead of leaving it open ended when it hadn't even began properly(only 30 chapters iirc) And him being the illustrator and the writer's brother he had ought to have had an insight on what his brother's vision was for the manga. Anyhow, I guess I went on a rant. What I wanted to say is, I hope Zom 100 can do what I and many others expected from High School of the Dead, i.e., set a high bar for what a good zombie anime should be like.

It's crazy how when you mentioned Marvel, my immediate thought wasn't "Oh because the animation is good" my thought was "What do you mean the animation is mediocre? It's not!"... how the kings have fallen.

From my experience, any zombie movie or show that is worth anything has been rooted in metaphor that connects with the rest of society at large. The very first "Night of the Living Dead" was a metaphor for a country divided during the social turmoil of the 1960's. "Day of the Dead" was a commentary on the rampant consumerism that infected American society. "Shawn of the Dead" was a metaphor for how a man struggles at breaking away from his bachelor lifestyle to pursue his love and ultimately marry her. "Sankarea: Undying Love" was drawing attention to instances of girls trapped in ugly abusive family situations, desperate to escape. "School Live!" was a metaphor about navigating through the pitfalls of high school while dealing with various social pressures and keeping your friend circle - and your individuality - intact until being able to graduate and pursue your own goals. I'm happy to say that Zom 100 is following suit with this tradition, in a wonderful way.

Zom 100 was a delightful series that showcased the power of a positive mental attitude, and I loved that Akira always tried to be the bigger person and take the high-road. It's easy to fall for a badass character who has all the moves and says all the right thing, but to make me fall in love with an ordinary man who just wants to live his life without regrets during the zombie apocalypse? Truly, a great work made by talented people.

zom 100 spoke to me as a student. DEPED is being impossible on it's students (hi my fellow fil students!), their crammed timetables, endless projects and tasks, and insane expectations on students when all they give us are modules that barely contains what we need to learn instead of actual books. they're not being realistic with the school hours as well, 6 am to 4:30. the half-day classes are actually pretty lucky, but since I'm SSC, it's a full day. the past generations are being stuck up with "we survived it, why can't you?" well, sorry to break it to ya but-- yes. that's what. zom 100 is easily one of my favorite animes not only because of the well-written plot, excellent visuals, and great characters, but also because of how relatable it can be.

I saw a gif of him running before breaking through aspect ratio and I knew what it was. As someone who has never worked till exhaustion and not get rewarded for it, I didnt relate. But I already know what the corporate culture is like, and My immediate thought on the gif was "Ohh, A corporate slave living my dreams." I dont want to be a corporate slave I dont want ti waste away my life doing something that I am forced into. The first episode resonates with me, The glimmer and starry eyes suddenly went blank when I realized "Ohhh.... even after college you cant be free.". I am going to watch this show, and slowly by time gain more wisdom. And finally break through the zombie world.

This anime pissed me off. It was so fun but the delays and the abrupt ending of it was beyond disappointing. Wish Japanese businesses weren't so corrupt, kinda ironic given the start of this anime. Literally every anime would be better if they didnt underpay, overwork, give majorly short deadlines to their animators. Its the main reason introducing people to anime sucks, they constantly complain about poor animation and still shots of peoples feet, mouths, walls and you cant blame them for not liking it. Hilariously though they do this to make more money but if they did what was ethical and logical they'd make way more money giving their animators proper time, money and scheduling.

Episode 3: Bestfriend of the DEAD changed my life. It was an eye-opener. I will forever view it as one of the most memorable episodes in all of the anime I've watched, all because it changed my perspective, it changed the way I view my world. Went from 0 to 40 in just a few months, now I still have a lot left in me to improve and this anime has kept and keeps me going. Definitely one of the best, imo.

Man I grew to really despise this anime. The first 3 episodes were legit SO good! Akira dying to live, Shizuka living to die, it *felt* like it would be a well done dynamic and... It all got tossed out the window by episode 5. Shizuka's survivalist mentality, the grounded setting, the little hints of characterization we got earlier, and even Akira's empathy *all* flew out the window. At least episode 4 had Akira aware that there is more to life than just enjoying things but instead of reflecting on things he simply doubles and triples down. I actually got the sense by episode 9 that the guy doesn't really care about people anymore because he literally puts everything on hold to build a tree house even if his parents could be in a desperate situation and may need his help. His objection in the last arc isn't that the bad guys are destroying the community, it's that they're doing what they want while "snatching away" others' ability to also enjoy themselves. Which is ironic given that's *exactly* what he did to the flight attendants by forcing them to drink with him and Tendo which led to them all getting infected. But Akira never reflects on that. In fact, he never really gets any consequences for anything he does that could result in him or other people getting hurt, but instead of simply going the full comedy route, the show constantly tries to pretend it can have serious moments that do not match with the tone whatsoever. I mean seriously, how am I supposed to care about the Akira of episode 1 if I know that by episode 9 he'd literally let everyone he knows get infected if it means he gets to build a tree house? In all my life I have never *once* seen a show nosedive this hard after such a good opening.

I liked the series up the point where characters were introduced just to die in the same episode, even for zombie media (my favorite genre). Beautiful animation, great concept, would recommend if you don't mind a bunch of red shirts for the main character to introspect over.

I never thought i would look at a zombie show and think that yeah, i´ll watch it, is good it´s deeper than just the ton of zombie shows that are already there but, this is actually really good and i´m really excited for it. Also i´m not saying there aren´t any good zombie shows and games, i like of the resident evil games and all, but there are so so many that are just the same thing, seeing something different is really nice.

This is my favourite anime ever and it seriously changed a lot of outlooks on things. It’s certainly not perfect but it speaks to me on such a personal level because of my relationships with parents and school and stuff, plus the art is brilliant! As an artist it’s absolutely stunning, and easy to understand!

I’m not a corporate wage slave, but man. This is so relatable. I go to a boarding school that basically uses us as free labour, and even though we don’t have overtime, it really does feel like we put our souls on the chopping block just so we can get what we need to survive, that being an education and I guess the slop that barely qualifies as food. I went there nervous but prepared to take a step further into having the life I want but now…almost in my 4th and final year of this hell, I’ve survived, but have I lived? My body is moving and I wake up everyday and go to bed, but has anything I care about happened? Does anything even matter anymore? My body is alive but my soul is dying. That’s what I feel sometimes, and I feel like Akira thinks the same way in the beginning. But after a cataclysmic event occurs and suddenly throws a wrench into the monotonous soul crushing life he goes through, he now has a reason to be. And he’s free from the very shackles he had to put on himself to survive, because that survival wasn’t life. So now he wants to spend the short time he has before his inevitable zombiehood doing whatever he wants. He’s like an animal that spent its whole life in captivity waking up to find the door to its cage wide open and the pink and grey Saharan sky stretching ahead of him. Of course he’s gonna run off and do fuck all, this might be his last chance! How many days did he wake up and think to himself ‘I wish the meteor that wiped out the dinosaurs came and killed us all’ or ‘I wish the work building collapsed so I can stay home’ probably everyday! And I feel that same soul wrenching hollowness everyday until I get home. This is funny and bizarre, but oddly, cathartic and relatable. I think I’m reading too much into this.

I read years of girl genius. a comic that starts in black and white, like a lot of webcomics just starting out, then changes to colour as they became more popular, and better at their work. or so I thought when I first read it. Then I read through the start again to post about it for a friend, and realised, no, it's all story. It started in black and white for story reasons, the same way this anime uses colour.

The manga is actually pretty nice.
