Their main diet consists of small insects like ants and fleas. Antlion larvae have the ability to adjust the amount of sand around their traps to ensure that any escaping prey falls into their traps.
Transition to Adulthood: After the larval stage, antlions form cocoons underground to undergo metamorphosis into adults. Once they reach adulthood, they emerge from the cocoon and become insects with tightly folded wings. However, most adult antlions have a very short lifespan, typically lasting only a few weeks.
Wide Distribution: Antlions can be found in various parts of the world, except for polar regions. They are more commonly found in sandy areas such as deserts, sand dunes, and sandy beaches. Different species of antlions may have varying sizes and color patterns, but they all exhibit similar behavior in constructing their traps
