I use my iPad as my external brain and sometimes my actual brain. Being a bit menopausal, when a hot flash hits, the fire burns right through every thought I had in my head. I am trying to learn to be more organized in my Apple Notes and only storing information in my iPad rather than in on bits and scraps of paper around the house. This is working for me because I always have my iPad or iPhone with me.

I have ADHD. This is a great idea for me with a tiny tiny working memory. Basically apple quick note will become the working memory I lack. I only use iPhone and iPad, luckily this will work perfectly. I like the idea that I can customise the quick note to reload the same one for a specific time frame before opening a new one. So at the end of each day I can go through my working memory notes and file them.

Very glad to hear that it seems promising! If you happen to use an apple pencil with you iPad, there's also a feature where you can just tap the pencil on the screen when the iPad is on standby and it'll automatically open up your most recent note. So you could combine that with the workingmemory.txt workflow to pull it up that way too if that happens to help.

Wonderful video, much appreciation for sharing. As a 78-year-old, I find Notes to be instrumental in maintaining my productivity. Given my dyslexia, incorporating visuals like graphics and diagrams could significantly enhance the clarity of your message.

Thank you very much, I knew about both - working memory and quick Apple notes , but never thought of merging it :) Also in iOS you can set up a button in Control Centre (where you have Torch), that opens a last edited note.

iPad (and now iPhone too with iOS 16 when it comes) version… swipe up from lower left corner. You can even swipe between Quick Notes. Or hashtag.

Hi Richard, What a kind comment! Thank you :) I'm hoping to get back to making videos soon. School/work have been a bit too busy for the past few months and I've had a few false starts on some videos I've filmed and not been happy with, but I do want to keep making videos with some regularity. So hopefully I'll have something new to share soon. Thanks again!

Bro, Have a question. For your notes , do you store in logseq or in apple notes ? I see many people using both logseq and apple notes, i am fully confused, When to use logseq ? and When to use apple notes ? Please share some your views on this , it feels confusing watching many youtubers using multiple apps for notes, no idea what is used for what .
@DavidManuel
@DavidManuel 4 месяца назад
Nowadays I've switched to using Obsidian for what I used to use Logseq for. I do use apple notes as well, but more for little day to day things like say if I'm slowly considering what Blu Ray player to buy, I'm more likely to keep notes about that in apple notes than Obsidian. I use Obsidian (formerly Logseq, Roam) for notes about projects I'm working on or things that interest me. I think the key is putting things you might want to link together in Obsidian/Logseq/Roam/Tana (even Notion has that option now to some extent).

David, thank you for sharing the video and information. The note-taking method you mentioned reminds me of a book I enjoyed, Building a Second Brain. I enjoy using Apple Notes, and I will definitely try out the hot corner tip. Thank you again for your advice!

David, this is a great video. I've subscribed. I have an iMac and I use my bottom left hot corner to show my desktop, but I can't fine a QuickNotes option on my hot corners menu. (I'm using Big Sur v.11.6.8)
@DavidManuel
@DavidManuel 2 года назад
Thank you, Patrick! I just looked into it and unfortunately it seems like the QuickNotes feature was only added in macOS Monterey 12. So you might be able to use it unless you end up upgrading your OS at some point. For now, my suggestion would be to consider using Alfred or Spotlight to quickly open another text-editing or notes app instead. I'd vouch the app called "Drafts" for this alternative -- mostly because Drafts loads up even faster than Apple Notes (because it has less going on, I think).

Hello Bro , Good day ! Have a question. In Apple notes, how can we "FIND & REPLACE ALL a TEXT" . The option is only available for "Find and replace text" each separately with multiple clicks. But unable to find how can i do a FIND text & REPLACE ALL in one click. Feels very time consuming when i had to replace a text at 100 different places in a document, as no "REPLACE ALL" available. Please do share your thoughts on this, how can we REPLACE ALL working with texts. Thanks !
@DavidManuel
@DavidManuel 11 месяцев назад
Hey! I just took a look and on my end it seems like Cmd+F brings up find, then there's the checkbox for replace, and once I click that checkbox it adds both a replace button and an 'All' button. The 'All' button should do what you're looking for, I think.

Hi David - excellent video - thanks so much. I use Apple Notes, but my desktop is a PC. Just wondering before I dive in if PC's have hot corners as well? Thanks!
@DavidManuel
@DavidManuel 2 года назад
Thank you, Kent! That's kind of you to say!! As far as I know, PC's don't have hot corners built in but you could get this feature on a PC by using an app. I haven't vetted this myself, but it seems like there's an app called "WinXCorners" that does this. Here's a link to a guide where someone details this: www.maketecheasier.com/get-hot-corners-windows-10/

How do you make it stay on top of the other windows ?
@DavidManuel
@DavidManuel Год назад
While you have the notes app open you can go to Window > Keep on Top. I think the default behaviour for quick notes in Monterey was Keep on Top but the default behaviour in Ventura is not Keep on Top. Which is unfortunate. I haven't been able to find a place to change what this setting defaults to in Ventura. Fingers crossed they add that in a future version of MacOS. For now, most of the time I just navigate back to the quick note (typically using Cmd + Tab for the application switcher) rather than assigning it as Keep on Top. But if you're working on something where having it on top would be useful you can change that setting and then leave the notes application open for the duration of your work session.
