This video was very encouraging. I've had tinnitus for about 2 years. It came on like gangbusters as well as hearing loss with it. I saw an ENT and audiologist immediately. Had all the tests (MRI etc.). No cause was found. At first I was very discouraged but then I just decided I was not going to let this control the rest of my life. I got hearing aids. I use a sound therapy app on my phone occasionally. I have a sound machine which I use at night when needed. My sleep is much better even sometimes without the sound. The only time the tinnitus gets worse is right after I've ridden in a car for 3-4 hours. While in the car, I don't notice tinnitus at all, and then when I go in the house it's like a roaring lion. So I just relax and eventually it gets less. I don't know....I just choose to not let it control me. I've always had a positive attitude about it....things happen in life that are out of our control. I'm thankful at age 68 I don't have many health issues. That's my story.

Anita Zierman. I have just read your comment and you are very positive and I am very encouraged by that. I have severe tinnitus, hyperacusis and hearing loss. (Do you wear hearing aids while travelling?) Car travelling I find is exactly as you find it. I think that we don’t notice the tinnitus when actually driving as we are concentrating, it does tend to be after. We must not allow tinnitus to control our lives, but live in harmony with it. With best wishes to all sufferers...❤️

@@osamasarhan6151 My sleep was disrupted at first. I could not get to sleep and then woke up too early. Very annoying because i was tired all day. Then I started taking melatonin (natural sleep aide) once in a while before bed. Also bought a noise machine. At first I used both all the time, now it's a lot less. It's trial and error. Professionals who actually have gone through the illness/condition themselves, is such a value for patients. When I first fell into a black hole of tinnitus, I eventually got in contact with a phsychologist trained specifically in the hearing area. I had several sessions with him and thought it was so difficult- until he revealed that he actually has tinnitus himself. It was SUCH a positive "shock" - this lovely, patient man with a full life of family and a job, could do all this with tinnitus. It switched my perspectives. Thank you ❤

This vid was very helpful and encouraging, thanks for sharing. I have had nonbothersome tinnitus for 7 years, the cause is otosclerosis. Then, from noise exposure on spetember 2022 it rised to a 8-9 out of 10. As time goes by (2 months) it is downgrading a bit, now is maybe a 5 or 6 out of 10, still bothersome tho. So, i'm quite new dealing with bothersome tinnitus (only 2 or 3 months). I'm trying to habituate, having sound therapy all the time. I bought a sound machine, adapted my hi-fi to my bed, so the speakers could play white noise all night, bought a mp3 player, and so on. The sounds i hear (music, waves, white noies, etc) are always a bit lower then my tinnitus. I'm also consuming your videos, they are amazing and they are helping me so much. TY

WOW !..18yrs..Thats exactly how long I have been living with my for-ground audio companion. Many ,many bumps along the journey but complete habituation was (and still is) my goal. Recently I have experienced a substantial hearing loss over 2 nights. Much of the bottom end in my right ear as well high end in my left. 5 days of prednisone (Thank God) brought back much of my hearing. But subsequent audiologist and ENT test have revealed the actual degree of loss. And the hyperacusis has been replaced by a new level of ...You guessed it..TINNITUS ! I was one of your original on-line participants when you first started your help programs and website. Julian Cowell Hill was literally the first video I watched the first night I was home alone with my "T" storm. Both you and Julian ..And even today with Dr. May.. You have all been instrumental in maintaining my positive attitude about weathering the "T" storm battles. If I am the captain of my ship ...You are my navigators ! Cheers !

Hi. I am in the UK, but think this channel is great with some good advice. I have suffered from tinnitus from a young age, but it has been spiking a lot in the last year and I am suffering a lot at the moment. Remembering that it is exacerbated by the limbic system has been a big help. I just wanted to ask, can the sound of a hairdryer cause hearing damage or worsen existing hearing problems (including tinnitus)?

I’ve been suffering Tinnitos for almost 3 years now. I’ve put my Tinnitos down to have an operation I didn’t know that anaesthesia is not a painkiller it makes one not remember what has happened. I was listening to someone from Harvard With a few PhD. I didn’t have Tinnitus pre-operation but I had a post operation so I’m putting it down to anaesthesia but I got dismissed from neurology to Audiology until I heard this man. Who is doing a thesis on Anastasia. And the way it changes the wave patterns of the brain 🧠. So my synopsis my neurons don’t talk to one another. When did brought me back around I felt my brain was not the same but I was dismissed but it is a fact that your brain may not be the same post operation as it was pre-operation or after anaesthesia. I’m under psychiatry right now I’m trying to get his point across as I have objective Tinnitos and only I can hear it but I do believe the cause was Anastasia because of its path of affect on the brain pattern and how it affects the brain pre-and post. I stumbled upon a method of using a vibrator to quiet the tinnitus. The science behind it is to transmit the vibrations along the cartilage from the external ear to the auditory nerve inside the brain. IT ONLY TAKES A FEW MINUTES. PLEASE CHECK IT OUT. I used a small electric shaver and placed the non-cutting end to the part of the ear near the entrance of the ear canal. You will probably need to move around that area a bit until you find the spot that gives most benefits. The vibrating sound can be quite loud so don’t apply it too long. After each try, assess the effectiveness. Initially, I tried 2-3 spots for 1-2 minutes, they were not effective until I raised the duration to 3 minutes. Please report back on your experience.
