Brother.... We are ON The Smallies here in Morgantown WV. Don't know if you're familiar with the aera, but we are about 1hr & 20mins south Pittsburgh PA. I Digress tho haha. My brother and I lucked upon 3 fresh water lakes, that were built by the Mining Company to feed water for drilling purposes I'm guessing. Now... these little lakes were built in the 40s. They are probably only 6 or 7 acres. But.... their 45ft deep @ the Dam wall and centers. On my GOOD WORD, There is the WV State Record Smallmouth living in these lakes!! I caught two 7+ lb Smallmouth & my brother caught 4 !! That's aside from the umpteen 3,4,5+ we stuck!! I swear as I'm breathing, Marc had one on last yr that I know was the Record!! Sadly after the 50/11th time that SOB went Airborne it threw the Rattletrap about 100 F'en feet !! & I'm telling ya that fish was double digits!! I seen it like 15 damn times, tail walking Mad as a Mofo !! This Bass was significantly bigger than anything we had caught all last yr! These lakes probably haven't been fished In 40yrs brother!! They are crystal clear as well , out in the middle of BFE, miles from anywhere... love that fact!! The mines are doing some work with the coal mines and that's how we came across them. Marc's Son in Law is the boss and he turned is onto um. I'll keep u updated my Friend, because from the start we have had so far this yr........ And NEW !!! WV State Record Smallmouth with 11lbs !! Hahaha. The current record is two separate fish. The weight is 9lbs5ozs. The length is like a hair over 25in. Ohhh BTW, I'm about 99% sure the state record Crappie also resides there !! We are catching some absolute Slab Crappie!! I love to talk to other Smallmouth people. Not near as many of us around as Largemouth ppl. Hell I'll fish for whatever ya want, but I have to say Smallmouth Bass is my favorite!! Love to creek fish for um probably as much if not more sometimes. That cool stream water is nice on a 100 degree day !!! Keep up the Gr8 content brother 👏 👌
