Instill is one of my favorites, in a sea of favorites. HLB is unmatched. I wish more people held them as highly as I do lol. Sad that they don't get the attention that, for instance, Lorna Shore has gotten. Funny that when people DO listen to them, they fall in love with them too lol
While you're on the Thall train, maybe check out some Mirar? They just dropped an EP a few days ago, I would recommend Rachma, Oslo or Franka from that. This EP is clearly in the thall ballpark, but without vocals and some classical and electronic stuff thrown in. If you would prefer somethign with vocals, try Déluge or toccata
HLB is one of my favorite bands! They are SO heavy. The only other band that I have ever heard that has a heavier guitar tone than HLB is a band called Admiral Angry. Admiral Angry’s 2009 album called, “Buster” has it’s own gravitational pull. They took long-necked 5-string bass-guitars and modified them into regular 7-string baritone guitars and it is literally THE heaviest thing I have ever heard in my life. The guitar tone is so low, and so unique and will likely never be replicated. It is all-encompassing.
I have had the new Mirar album Mare on repeat for a week and it is like living in hell This Thall movement is astounding Dope reaction HLB is ridiculous 👏👏👏👏
My favourite of the singles from ashen! That intro is just so evil sounding. Actually surprised you rated thay high. Honestly thought it would be too much for ya but happy you did enjoy it l!
All that remains has dropped 2 new songs recently. They haven't put out anything since 2018 when their guitarist passed. Jason richardson took over and they finally came out with some new songs. New album is on the way too. Divine came out like a month ago. And Let you Go dropped a couple days ago. Great songs
I wish i still enjoyed this kinda thing. My first thought when listening was: why? I mean, whats the point of writing a song like this in 2024. Its just low chugs and tremelo and gutterals. Definitely never heard that before. My final thoughts at the end: the ONLY artistic expression i heard was the use of space which was admittedly kinda interesting. Wouldnt really spend my time to listen again though.
