Wow, I love your new neighborhood. I love the more local vibe, less tourists and super convenient bus terminal. Oh and you are right next to a Phed Mark? That is amazing.
Personally I think this is not a local vibe, it is Asian tourist orientated vibe, similar to Thong Lor. You can get a local vibe by taking 30min BTS ride south-west, literally no foreigners, but it might not be not everyone's cup of tea.
It is far more of a local vibe than the former area but I mean, the further you go the more local. I kept going 7 hours into Isan and I hit a high level of local. If I go another 4 hours into Lao or Cambodia it's very high local or Myanmar for nearly maximum local local. If you go more far than that you hit the north pole with ultra level local penguins. @@bamboo6044
Ekkamai...a nice place...This was my first stop after landing from Pattaya to Bangkok. Certainly a peaceful area than Asok. I did explore it during my first trip but wasn't having any plans to start a RU-vid channel then in 2017. I m sure you made the right decision moving here.
Used to live in Ekkamai Soi 23 at the end of Sukhumvit Soi 63. Yes, the BigC is nice. I loved the Orange juice vending machine in front of it a lot. Yes, and in Gateway I also used to shop. By the way, if you search for a gym there is also one diagonally on the other side from Gateway. I am not doing sports, but I know it because I used to avoid the stairs from the BTS Station by using the lift in that building. 555
Wow I never knew Ekamai district has such a quiet backstreet while the main road itself is very loud. Congratulation to your new and better life there any way. Ekamai bus terminal is also called eastern bus terminal. It's a hub for traveling to eastern region (Chonburi, Rayong, Chantaburi, Trat). It was once very busy but today most of the east line vans go to take off from the larger northern bus terminal (Mo Chit) instead.
Yeah, there’s definitely some quiet side streets here. And you’re correct about the name of the bus stop. I showed it in one of the images as I was walking away from it. I didn’t see it when I was walking up because it’s so light colored.
Interesting phenomenon for your new home ground....it offer some peace and calm.... traffic is still jammed pack at the main road....enjoy your stay Serg...🎉😂
I thought you moved away from Sukhumvit! 😂 Wat That Thong... so many memories of attending funerals of my friends and relatives there dating back from when I was in kindergarten to most recently just 3 years ago. If you're an expat living in Sukhumvit area there's a good chance you'll be cremated there when you die in Bangkok.
I wanted to move away from the tourist crazy sock area. But I still like the modern convenience of living along Sukhumvit. Several people have mentioned that they do funerals at the temple. I will have to go there one night and quietly observe.
Hey Serg. Seems like I have been glued to your channel since I found it. I am a travel agent from canada and coming to Thailand on and agent trip. Very excited. Question What are the chances I can find some used GoPro gear? Do you think the prices will be comparable to here? I would love a GoPro for this upcoming trip. I have recommended your channel to all my fellow agents on this trip. Thanks for the info.
I’m not sure where you could find it. Unless you’re doing some extreme action sports, I just use your phone. All of my videos are recorded, and edited, on my iPhone 13 pro max. Thank you so much for your support, and I hope you enjoy your trip!
It’s a nice neighbourhood Serg Iv been there a few times. It’s good to have a walk around .strange enough I never went into that mall then this year for the 1st time I went in there lots to eat and some nice stalls.
Was that a Mission to Neptune Moonswatch i saw on your wrist? Can i ask where you managed to get one from? I thought the Moonswatches werent available in Thailand
Good eye! They have official Swatch stores here and they sell them. They usually sell out every morning that they get a shipment. But the swatch store at Central World definitely sells them.
Hi, I've been your Fc. since your stared to Thailand. I'm Thai living near Bankok, I would like to suggest that you try to visit a city without many tourists , Nan Province, in the nort of Thailand,it's a green, peaceful ,shady area with culture and beautiful nature and delicious local food and recommend another Province in the northeast,is Nakhon Phanom, located next to the Mekong River,it's a province with culture, traditions, many temples a history worth exploring, delicious food, and many things to visit. Try going and you'll see the diversity of Thailand * Unseen Thailand *
Never take the lottu(mini bus) from Ekkamai bus station to or from Trat towards Koh chang. There is no toilet and if you get stuck in traffic. You cant piss for hours ! It can kill you !! Take the big bus with toilet, at least you are safe with a toilet. Thai transit authorities were bribed to buy these cheap Chinese mini bus(lottu) to goto Trat and back.
There’s a bunch that are good here. It just depends what your budget is and what you’re looking for. I can’t make blank recommendations without knowing what someone is looking for or their budget. If you want professional help, look in the description of my last video where I list my agents contact info. He and all of the girls that work for him are wonderful.
@@LifewithSerg thanks will have another look at your previous posts. I’m hoping that 30k for a one bedroom is achievable. Ekkamai certainly has a quieter vibe and less touristy 👍
I just cant stand Ekkamais Sidewalks! Its one of the reason I wont live there! Especially that Big C side! The Entire Tree blocks the sidewalk!!! Honestly everything needs to be spaced back!
Ekamai is good, very clean and quiet compared to the next 2 station. but since I didn't have much thing to do there and Gateway Ekamai didn't have much to offer compared to Emdistrict so I often skip to next area but it pretty great one for daily life.
Yeah, we all like different things for sure. I actually do not like the Emporium or EmQuartier mall unless I’m going there for something specific. It just feels way too pretentious. I love the DJs, the play, the escape rooftop bar there, and once in a while ago, and hit sushiro.
@@LifewithSerg haha it does! I use both mall as the center area for my navigation. Did you try Nakamura Custard, Japanese bread and pastry? It next to Emquartier! Another former Japanese family fining is near Emporium called Nigata kitchen
I good red meat is not cheap here because they literally have no cows. So most of that is imported from New Zealand. I will have to go and make a video at that store and I will show you all the prices. If you look back at my “shopping in Thailand’s best super market“ video, you will see that I covered some of the prices of it already.
1) the pronunciation is 'vit', not 'weeet' in sukumvit. 2) because purple is considered the royal colour. 3) sure, why not? i won't be seeing the building colour when i'm inside. 4) having that maxvalu is insanely convenient and i love them. 5) agree, that mall is insanely consistently quiet, especially compared to other malls off BTS.
@@LifewithSerg it's terrific. the best part is you're far enough from the crowd to have some peace but only a few BTS stops from busier areas. i have family living near ari and that's just a quick hop over (with some amazing foods just off the station there) or getting to the underground rail isn't far either. i can't wait to see you do your walks around those soi. i usually stay in soi 60-something and the permutation of being able to turn left or right and end up all over the place is nuts and wonderful. and the best part is, if i get tired, the bike people are usually not far away.
Brought back memories of Ekamai when I was there last year. I went to that bus station to go to Pattaya as well. And I ate at PhedMark and ordered ... a NON-SPICY pad kra pao lol Felt kind of embarrassed ordering it but it was pretty good. Thanks for showing us around again. And yes, would love another supermarket tour/haul.
Serg, great video mate! Someone we know said do not get mini bus as they are cramped and do multiple stop between destinations so to use the public large buses! Direct point to point and cheap! Mark Weins, go out the back and see the filth and leaking drains - front looks great but the back is less than clean!
I’ve taken one of the mini buses twice when I have to come back from Uthai Thani. They are a bit cramped. I solve that by buying 2 seats each time so I could just put my stuff next to me. It was only $5 per seat, so no big deal. I avoid looking behind most restaurants. Lol.

Omggg we got the new vlog faster than I expected. I loved thisss and I have to agree the neighborhood and roads seems more calmer even tho it's still super busy 🤩 also congratulations on moving in !! Very happy for you. You seem very excited ab the move in :)
It’s still pretty hectic, but nowhere near as bad as my old location. I think I was just excited because I found that market this morning while filming this video. I thought I was gonna be much much smaller. It’ll be my new place to go for lunch when I want something simple.
@@LifewithSerg also, for tasty German food "Alexander's German Eatery" is very good, though they don't seem to offer veal, only pork schnitzels. I had the Jaegerschnitzel and it was excellent. Better than Bier House on soi 11. Finally, I here "Here Hai" is very good for crab fried rice. I never went but would like to. Maybe in December. There is always a line out the door.
Yay for the upcoming motorcike tour! Looking forward to that. I'm seeing dozens of cool restaurants and places to go all around you. Congrats on your big screen and great video!
It’s not purple inside. And to be honest, the price wasn’t that great. It’s a pretty tired building that doesn’t seem to be taken care of well anymore.
Ekkamai is a great area. Started out on Soi 23 many moons ago. Big Muslim community up there too - great food. Enjoy your new stomping grounds brother 👍🙏
@@carstensanonym7527 Walk down Ekkamai 30, and start there. If you're looking for the nearest Masjid, it's on Pridi 30, the next major Soi towards Bang Na.
Hey Serg, From the last clip i very doubt about Thai Sub "ออกจากรองเท้า" and don't understand how it relate to SOCK? This clip I clear about it now, You said A-SOKE But the auto translate make it wrong bc you pronouce was A-SOCK. hahahaha
Love this area too. I always go to Major Cineplex for films and to sub-zero ice skete club. There are on opposite site of Science center for education and Ekamai Bus station. Have a happy new home... na krub! (^_^) 😊😊😊
I've done the Ekkamai to Pattaya Cheap Charlie Bus enough times in my life at this point. I will "splurge" every time and hit up my favorite car service for a private ride in an Alphard or a Toyota Fortuner. I never had bad experiences with the buses. They understand the assignment and get it right more times than they don't. This new neighborhood looks great, Serg. Good choice. Looking forward to hearing about what's good to eat once you do more gastro exploration. Might be plotting on traveling up from Na Jomtien for a Bangkok trip in a few weeks.
I hear ya on the car service, my preference as well. I’ve taken the bus twice from Uthai Thani to Bangkok and it was fine. Seats were only 180THB each. OI bought two of them so I can just put my stuff next to me and not feel cramped. 🤪
Ekamai is very good place. Tons of activities. A lot of cool restaurants and also streetfood. Theatre (Major Cineplex). Star dome. Cool malls. You don’t miss anything that Asoke offers.
Looks like great neighborhood, doesnt look like much traffic. If you ever decide to move again try Siracha if you move there we can be best buddies. You should buy a Harley with a leather vest and a tattoo that would be awesome.😂
When I lived in Japan I’d stay here because my girlfriend was Japanese and had friends working there. Still do a day there when I visit bkk. Love the izakaya mock-ups. Used to be a cool speakeasy in ekimaii near there too
Loved Ekamai district, i stayed at charming apartments 2 which was on ekamai st which is down the street from The Big C supermarket. The BTS is a very short walk from both mentioned places as you mentioned. So many food places. For my daily walk i would walk to terminal 21 mall asok to shop or go upstairs to the food court to eat. There are two malls their across the street from each other. Really really loved the area. I'll be returning to ekamai early next year.
It's considered the same neighbourhood: Lower Sukhumvit. You're just at a different station in the neighbourhood; there is very little difference between them.
Just recently your vlog popped up on my RU-vid feed. Glad i clicked on it. I subscribed after watching one vlog. I like your style of videos. I think you deserve a lot more views. Good luck!
Really like that area went to mark wing's restaurant. And took the bus over to koi chong Island Can't wait to go back to Thailand love all your videos. Keep up the good work truck driver. Lonnie out here in California, keep on trucking.
I have lived in the OnNut area for 3 years now and really enjoy it.. I dont want to be by the tourists. From my condo to Asoke takes about 15 minutes. I enjoy walking around in the hidden neighborhoods. I will have to visit that market off of 42.
Serg, go eat at Thonglo Pochana which is a small noodle shop on Thonglo Street near Soi 18. Skip Wattana Panich, just bland and awful even with their wall full of awards.
@@LifewithSerg I stopped being afraid of ghosts and mystics when I watched them. and made me understand human life more Thanks to the real ancient civilization of India, the light came to light.
Not being negative, but i read that a lot of mass grown food ie veges etc are high in Pesticides and herbicides in a few Asian countries. Also chicken meat and cows milk have high levels of preservatives in them so they don't go off quick. Have you heard the same. There is quite a lot of data on said subjects. The average consumer wouldn't bother looking this up i guess.
Everything in America is bio genetically engineered. Food all over the world is being altered, I don’t think any particular place is much better or worse than another. Like any country, you can find clean food here pretty easily.
Great place. It is less hectic, and definitely I would love to see the shopping in the big “C” supermarket those are really fun videos to watch. Thanks for sharing.
My first introduction to your channel was a video you made about five months ago walking through a Lotus supermarket. Keep up the great updates Serg. I’m trying to plan a trip to Thailand for next year about late May. I just don’t know where to start or more importantly where to fly into.
Hey Peter, glad you found my videos useful. Just decide if you want to be at the beach, or in the big city, or in the mountains. It all depends how long you gonna be here. If you’re thinking about moving here, I offer consultation services, and you can contact me via the info in the description of this video.
Love that area between Ekkamai and Thong Lo. I passed by Mark Weins restaurant didn’t know it was his. Have to check it out next time. There’s so much in that area though. When I lived there I went to that Gateway mall almost every day. The supermarket there can get a little expensive, but it’s great for quick pre-prepped meals that are a few steps above 7-11. It is quite a bit of walking getting around in that area though.
I am surprised number one that you haven't lost your voice you talk too much and sometimes it's not important what you're saying the other thing now I realize why you don't have that many subscribers because you talk too much
Looks like someone's got a case of selective hearing! Thanks for the backhanded compliment. If you ever want to learn how to hold an audience's attention, I'll be here. Until then, enjoy the sound of silence on your own channel.
I think this might get hit hard by pandemic. It’s not really empty. If you come there in the afternoon up until about 9 PM, it will be relatively full.
Serg I really enjoy your videos. It takes a lot of courage to move to another country all by yourself. I love how you explore and are so knowledgeable about everything. Would love to be your partner so I could go with you.
Having moved from Russia to America at nine years old, I think I’m more adept at learning new cultures. Thailand definitely has its ups and downs. There’s quite a few things here that drive me bat shit crazy. However, at the end of the day, I’m very happy to be living here.
