This BeamNG Car Mod Is 100 Years Old...Is It Safe?

I love how heavy this thing looks, like in most of those crashes there's very few parts that fly off into the distance, and most of the bits that come off it pretty much just drop where they are. There's just something so satisfying about the way it falls apart.

1927 safety features include the patented "don't drive off a cliff you idiot" technology, which works by having a person who's not insane at the controls, so that they don't drive off a cliff.

The 1927 Pierce-Arrow Series 36, of which this would be a competitor, cost $6500 which would be roughly $125K today,

One of the things that gets me on some of these mods is the modder may have a general idea of the concept they're going for, but overlook a lot of the finer design or engineering details that end up breaking suspension of disbelief. Those Kei-trucks we looked at a while back felt like they overlooked some pretty important functional details. This one overlooks ubiquitous design elements of the period that would leave people scratching their heads at their execution or omission. We have turn indicators and dual brake lights that didn't yet exist, but no windscreen wiper? Skinny running boards that don't join up with the fenders and wouldn't support a woman wearing high-heel shoes (yes that's a thing)? That's also a lot of big gauges at a time you usually only got a few at best, like speedo and tachometer, and _maybe_ oil pressure and voltage. My understanding is that fuel gauges were just beginning to see adoption at the time so that's pretty likely, but coolant temp was still often a matter of watching it boil out of the radiator under the hood ornament until the 30's.

It is a miracle that this mod had returned! I heard the original creator of the Heron had their BeamNG account deleted (not sure if it was on their own terms or not). It's awesome to see Joobles give it a refresh cause it's an interesting mod 👍

Honestly, if there were any game that I could experience for the first time again, it'd be Mafia. That game, despite being from 2001, is one of the most spectacular shooters I've ever played, and has such a great story. It truly feels like you're in a gangster film, it's awesome. Plus as a HUGE classic car nut, having those cars be so faithfully represented is great.

Would love to see a crash comparison test with this versus a modern day car to see how well todays cars stand up to a crash compared to this car.

You have to remember, these cars also didn’t have seatbelts because nobody needed them. If you were in any of those crashes, you were 100% dead.

My first job was at a mechanic shop in 2001 that had been open since the 1920's. one rainy afternoon my boss let me drive a 1931 dodge coupe home since I rode my bicycle to work every day. I was 11 but i had been learning to "powerslide" (what we now call drifting) and I clutch kicked the car around this corner at the end of 16th ave.. It was amazing. Unfortunately after a few more slides one of the rear wheels was wobbling. I had to go to a cabinet shop to get the broken wooden spoke remade and It was my first time using a lathe! Same Boss caught me trying to slide the tow truck around the side street with the parking brake pedal and he showed me the trick of folding up a styrofoam cup under the brake release pull so that the parking brake pedal would auto return up when I stomped on it. I was 11 or twelve at the time and I was amazed that He wasnt mad, he told me "might as well show you how to do it better then fuss at you"

about time you reviewed this mod, it's been available for download on the website for the last 4 years. err edit. 5 years, I haven't been able to get the flying parts to work, but adding turbo and nitro, welded diff etc works well. I always remove the hood for that old time hotrod feel, It's a fun car to powerslide everywhere as it just hangs out so wide as you fishtail it side to side, Dump the clutch in top gear then play with the go pedal for that steering with the rear end sensation ;-) Don't forget that Crash Hard has made his own version.. His one does wheelies on take off when you fit the itsyourboi custom wheel mod using the 15x25 drag wheel/tires via the meo hub converter add-on

Now we need a race in that car.

this man deserves more recognition for sticking to his original content being considerate enough to provide a mod link

No crumple zone - Basically in case of frontal crash, the engine crush you onto the seats. Appreciable anyway to see how accurate is the physics even with these very vintage cars.

we are getting another old car mod but its gonna be based off a ford model A, its gonna be paid but it'll have a free trial one as well but i do think we do need older cars in this game i feel as if theres too many modern cars now

A Ford Model T touring in the mid 20's was US $260, which is about $4,700 in 2024, still one of the cheapest cars in history. I believe only the Tata Nano from India is cheaper now, at $2,500... And as a real Ford Model T owner myself, I totally agree, BeamNG needs more vintage cars!

the top speed of a model T was about 40 to 45 mph, still more than i expected. this is obviously not a T but similar times...

what i dont like about the auriga jeron is that the chassis is not moddeled with steel, its just black. and i dont know if the engine has textures too XD
