@@lucyk.5163 same thing I was thinking but you know. Would you rather keep it caged living half the life it could, or be as free as possible enjoying what it should be doing, like perching in a tree
@@lucyk.5163look up "Carolin von petzholdt", she has free flight macaws and parakeets. She trained them while young in her home then when she knows her birds know their recall then she takes them places to free fly. It's amazing to watch and see the bond they share with her.
Parrots are actually pretty smart they can even talk reasonably when asked questions. IV see that in Dubai when I was a kid. I don't know why people say crow is the smartest.
You know what is the really wonderful thing about this whole thing is ? That there is a fellow human being that his kindness and love for this sweet beautiful little bird has a wonderful home and a loving dad that has taken Lil sweetie under his Wing and shares a wonderful life with one of God's creatures. Makes my day and faith in humanity.
Yea rainbow lori's are extremely vocal and like to copy the most annoying sounds like plovers. That little scream is definitely a happy noise, it means it pretty much sees you as its mum
My dog was a stray. It followed me home for like 30mins. Just gave it food and thought it would leave. Next morning it was there. I just put a small bed in my open garage. It hasn't left. Just steps outside for a minute and back. Only waits for me to go out to actually move around. I got adopted
Really is. I prefer this method of pet keeping. It feels as if you have been chosen. Like, have you seen some peoples pets who look like they are actually prisoners pretending to be pets??? I don’t want that. I want animals to want to be around me for me, not because I’m fixing them to be my friend.
@@joyhope9486 getting chosen makes it way way better. Most pets always looking for a way out of the house. Getting a pet that only wants to be around because it knows you love it. I don't even use a leash. She is always right beside me.
@@joyhope9486completely agree….especially for birds. The amount of “pet” birds that aren’t even permitted to fly is heartbreaking. A lot of people think the birds are better off because they’re “safer”, not realizing how much damage it really does. It would be like their parents keeping them locked up in a room for their entire lives, in order to “keep them safe”.
I like how you made another comment cuz the other one was spammed with a buncha cynical miserable bastards who always just assume the worst shit lol. I don't blame you
My parrot used to bath with me everyday he would come to bathroom door and make noise till i opened door he escaped my home and since then I don't know where he is
I hate this owner ngl. This bird is called a rainbow lorikeet, if you google an image of one and look at the wings, you'll notice the flight feathers extend down past the body. This bird has been clipped on both sides, so it can't fly at all. Meaning it did not put itself in that bush. The owner has placed it there, allowed it to get completed soaked, and then has filmed himself carrying it back into the van for likes. Birds can't regulate their body temperature as well as we can, this lori was probably freezing. And also, he clearly cheaped out on it's setup. The cage looks like it's made out of galvanized steel, witch means it's coated in zinc. Zinc is toxic to birds, if ingested the bird will die within a couple of days. Apologies for killing the mood. Feel free to ignore my comment, I just wanted to rant.
@@Alakhai-kx4bzit’s really hard to get a bird at a shop that isn’t clipped so not positive if the owner keeps it clipped or he got him like that. But the rest is spot on and pretty sad.
@@FormerGovernmentHuman dont clipped feathers grow out? i feel like it seems like he's had this bird long enough that even if it was initially clipped, it should have grown out by now
@@MK-gp4oh and even if it was just a case of the feathers not having grown out yet. You don't leave a defenceless bird out in the rain next to a road. My bird is free-fight and I'd never leave him next to a road and just walk away, especially during bad weather. He can sit patiently on my shoulder until we're at the park and I've checked for possible dangers. Even if this lorikeet was free-flight, letting him fly unsupervised, next to a road in bad weather would be stupid. Edit: I'm not mad at you. Just making another point. Please don't take my tone personally
@@Alakhai-kx4bz If you listen to the noises it makes when in the van they indicate it is not fully matured yet which could mean the feathers haven't completely grown into their full form.
Agreed, i have a cage for my bird but i leave it open so he can hang out on top of it and isnt trapped, and i take him on walks every day. I think a cage is important but its horrible to lock them up like they’re just a decoration
I've owned several parrots over the years and they are the smartest and sweetest creatures. They bond to you and enjoy the companionship. They can be like puppies with feathers.
I get what you're saying, but your comment could lead people to think they're just typical pets who require the same level of care as a dog or cat. That is not the case. As i'm sure you know, owning a parrot is a commitment that most people could or should not handle. They are highly intelligent (about the level of a toddler or small child) and emotional, and they need proper time to bond with you. Training them can take a ton of time and effort depending on what you want from them. Plus they can live up to 80-90 years depending on the species. If you're going on vacation, finding a someone to care of your dogs or cats is quite easy. Finding a bird-sitter can be a whole different story. You'll basically be caring for a child for decades upon decades, potentially your whole life. Dogs and cats are far more casual pets Edit: Just realised parrots could be an amazing addition to the family for mothers who no longer have children living at home but miss the parenting. Wish you had that spark back of having someone/thing depend on you to care for and love them? Get a parrot! And the best part is they wont go off to college in 18 years and only talk to you on christmas!
@@DomOfSin666 Um, just because I did not mention all of the details you did, this means I don't know this about parrots or was mislead people about them? I was just relating one positive aspect of my own experience with my parrots. I am totally aware of all that you mentioned. Just because someone doesn't mention everything in a post doesn't mean they are unaware of it or what they did share is going to misguide anyone. And as to whether dogs are more casual pets, that is an opinion. As a bird person I am knowledgable about them and know how to care for them.
@@DomOfSin666he just said there sweet and can be like puppies with wings, the affectionate part I’m assuming. You wrote a whole paragraph when the man never said there easy to care for🥴
I love this, the fact that she can fly free and she still comes back proves that she is very loved and taken care of, and she loves her owner very much This is so sweet
She isn't taken care of well. *NEVER* leave your parrot outside alone, there's predators and even dogs and cats can get him. I've never seen such an irresponsible parrot owner, there are leashes for parrots for a reason. It's not about the parrot leaving, but even wind can take him away and never be seen.
It's something called freeflight, believe it or not! Medium to large birds need a lot more room to fly than a cage or even whole house can offer them, so a lot of good owners will do freeflight training for their birds. Birds aren't as domesticated as dogs, but good owners know their birds well, and their birds feel safe with them because they see the human as part of their flock.
Hes an aussie tradie, very normal to let your pet free roam while youre at a work site. They just hover around the van. Thankful australia is a safe country
See id be the helicopter parent, worried about hawks and other predators. Thats why I never let my babies outside free range... in hindsight I wish I had given them a little more freedom
Man that Is absolutely freakin awesome🎉. Im not even a fan of birds but if I had one that acted like this I would love to have it I just cant get over how cool this is.
@@vISoaRIvyou can pet their head and face but not their back or wings or anything like that, touching their feet is kinda ok as long as they tolerate it. But it does cause hormones to arise if you touch them anywhere besides their face and head
I'm not sure if its respect or just the bird not knowing how to get food without a human being around since its a pet and doesn't know the first thing about being in the wild. Imprinting can do that to a bird.
For those of you who want to see it by themselves : research "rainbow lorikeet wings" an look for a picture of their back. Wings are longer and the tips cross each other.
@@panpan-6944I have a bird and it’s really hard to tell even harder while wet so I strongly doubt you can tell it’s clipped so maybe stop being so negative and just be happy for the friendship they have
I never got my birds wings clipped, and probably never will. It’s just really wrong to do that. A bird that loves you shouldn’t need to have it’s wings clipped to stay with you.
have you ever had a bird? the bond between a bird is the strongest, they pick one mate and that is all they will ever have. my bird is the same as this bird, he wouldn't leave me no matter what, he thinks I am his mate and nothing can ever change that! @@briom1425

@@briom1425yeah no... birds need affection since they're social animals. That's like saying "cats only like you for food" if that's the case then logically you should be able to harm both and both would still like you. Do some research it's not difficult

Bird owner here! My dusky conure free flies and anytime she spots/senses a hawk or predator of any kind, she’ll alert me with a screech and hide away in a tree or come straight to me where she knows she’s safe. She’s green so she blends with the trees. She also will recall to me by going “BEEP BEEP” to make sure I’m nearby and to let me know she’s okay. I’ll usually respond with my own “BEEP BEEP” to let her know I hear her and she’s safe. Birds are smart! And even being raised by humans they still have amazing instincts.
We rescued a baby pigeon back in the day, we nursed and raised him for about a year, we taught him to fly and mingle with the other pigeons. When it was time, we wrapped one of his legs with string for identification and set him free. He came back almost every week pecking at our glass back door, we’d let him in, feed him and let him back out. Birds are smart animals, if you raise them right and build that trust. They’ll always come back. This guy definitely treated his bird well.
@@jettstaff9785 regardless of the species all birds have an inherent urge to avoid and escape their owners, its INSANELY stupid and dangerous to let said bird out, 99 out of 10 times the bird will NEVER come back either because it simply doesn't want to or it doesn't know how to.
Parrots and Corvids in particular will bond really REALLY strongly to one maybe two humans if they are understood and cared for. It's as strong a bond as any dog
That's very stupid. I could never leave my parrot outside without a leash, a wind can take him away, or dogs or cats or literally any other predator. It's horrible risk on his part. Even the rain is bad, because it goes into their nostrils and they can drown like that. That's why parrots in the wild cover from rain.
Why is that surprising? Giving the history of birds what they can do over thousands of years. Trained birds were normal to send messages long distance all the time. Birds are smart and can be trained and learn fast.
@@cconnon1912 but there is no protection from cats and eagles, while he is at work though...I would be to scared to let it fly free, also because of humans who would want to capture it, because they might think it escaped....the bird can catch a cold too......I see too many birds in cats mouths......anyways I got anxiety from this, I would be to frighten and my head would be constantly thinking, if the bird was ok or not.....
