We had 159 registered Braham cows when I was in my 20s, abut 40 years ago. They were half grey and half red Zebu Brahman. The Zebu have the long ears. I really enjoyed them. We moved our cattle the same as you do, because my dad didn't like using horses. The key to using horses is you ride the horses around the cattle all the time and they aren't as scared of the horses. It you try to work cattle that aren't used to them the run thru fences. So you just need to ride the horse among the cattle all the time. It keeps you a lot safer when they have calves.
I hear they are but they’re supposedly more quick witted than average cows and more likely defend themselves when scared maybe because of their history/ancestry.
Those brahmers are waspy. I remember working them at the sale barn in Louisiana when I was just a teenager. Once they get wound up they are definitely a handful.
You are right about getting them all worked up. I’ve raised Brahmans for years, and just like all breeds there are some sporty ones. Slow and steady always works best. But, sometimes you just have to do your best with what you’ve got.
WORKING WITH COWS IS THE HARDEST JOBS BUT ALSO ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL ONES NEVER FORGET THAT ANIMAL SACRIFICE THEIR LIFES SO THAT WE COULD EAT JUST LET THAT SINK IN 🙏✝️
Well Merry Christmas . The cattle look good . Sure do hope 2% doesn't catch up with you guys. You have got to get a good dollar for them or I would change breeds . Hope to see you in the new year .
Merry Christmas to you too! This is the only handful of Brahmas we have left so just this one crew to mess with about twice a year. Keeps things exciting I guess!
Merry Christmas from Canada! I think if I had to deal with those cows I'd be selling them off! Normally when I get a spooky one they quiet down when they get with my herd but most of my cows I can pet
I'd cull the nasty ones in a heart beat and get a sorting chute so you don't have to mess around with this type of thing every time you work them, even if they're tame.
1:56 Hello buddy hey do you have a lead Cal the oldest cow usually they will follow behind once you spook the cattle you have to allow them to calm down rationally calm down slowly introduce your distance your drone allow them to get familiar with your drone and hurting walking technique slowly slowly introduce your technique
You need to sell those wild cows at the sale barn and buy some cows that are use to being worked on foot. Throw that whip away and get a paddle to sort with. Also you cant sort calves out the same gate the cows are going out, you need to sort in an alley way that has a catch pen to catch what you are sorting off. Life is too short, you and your brother are lucky you didnt get hurt or killed by them, Cattle business is supposed to be somewhat fun, not life stressful like that.
You call indian cows are brahma. But in reality there are too many indian breeds which are sacred for us hindus. The one you have is thraparkar and haryana breed.
While your videos are entertaining, you deserve the goofy cattle that you are creating. Nothing can replace a horse for gathering cattle on large acreage. You are training your cattle every time that you interact with them. If you let just one of them get away with escaping, not going to the pen etc… that one will infect the whole herd. The truly bad dispositions need to be culled. The rest of the problems have been created by running and letting the cattle run. They come into the pens hyped up and nervous because you let that happen and are in a hurry. You give Brahman cattle a bad name by the way you handle them.
