I sold all my Sony equipment and got the S5IIX a few days ago. Just getting used to the settings and switching some minor gear pieces over and it's off to the races
I´ve been using a lot of cameras in the las t 15 years...and decided to buy a S5IIx few weeks ago (B&H sent wrong first time so I´m going to have it in my hands next week) because for me it´s the best hybrid camera you can have and keep for the next 5 years at least.
I started my photography journey about two months ago. I was on a very small budget. After looking around i decided to pick up a g7. I picked it up for around $450 with a kit lens brand new. I love it. I can't really compare it to any other camera. It's my first mirrorless camera
Followed Josh for quite a while now and now you, two wonderful people and a pleasure to watch your content and learn. My Lumix journey started in 2019 with the original G9 which I still have, I’ve been a stills guy until more recently, with the exception of some action cam stuff! and love learning from people like you both about video. I recently purchased a S5iiX and am so keen to learn video and audio using this great camera. Thanks and please both keep up the great work, I know it can be tough. 👏
I've been running with Sony for a while for the AF. Currently shooting with the Sony FX30. But, I've always preferred the LUMIX skin tones over Sony. Now, with the S5iix, I feel I can jump back into LUMIX again.
It’s definitely worth at least renting from a local shop or borrowing from someone you know. It’s a fantastic camera. Especially with the ability to shoot ProRes or Raw to SSD. 🙌🏼
Does anybody have a link to a good video of how to color grade vlog. I shot a wedding this weekend with Sony and Panasonic and I’m struggling with Panasonic getting a cinematic image out of it
Yes! Is there something similar out there yet? Which zoom lense could I chose that's under 1000€ and at least 2.8f and good for fashion so from 16mm till 50mm at least. I'm confused by the lense selection for this camera. Thank you

i'm so close to pulling the trigger on an s5iix, but waiting for news on a possible s1hii. really wish they'd announce something bc the wait is killing me.
I started my film journey in 2019 . The year of the S1H . Instantly fell in love . I’ll forever be under the lumix umbrella . RU-vid channel and video podcast coming soon .
I bought Sony XDCAM video cameras years ago when we were doing three-camera shoots. Upon retiring, I got away from Sony due to their poor ergonomics. They were not newbies, they'd made and sold millions of cameras...there is no excuse for such poor ergonomics. Perhaps this has changed in the past five years...but I have become pleased with Panasonic products.
What would be your advice, I’m in the market for a new A cam, I do a hybrid shooting style from run and gun weddings to documentary style stationary interviews, to the occasional short film. Currently I’m stuck between the lumix s5iix, the BMCC6k, or the upcoming Pyxis camera (which I’m very intrigued by) - love BM colors a little bit more than Lumix (currently own g9 but use BM often) but I also love the feature set of the Lumix cameras. Any advice?
Hey man! Sounds like you’ve done a good amount of research and have an eye for color detail. Have you used a Lumix full frame before? I rented one before buying to see if it would suit my needs. Maybe a good option? The only real con to the S5iiX is it doesn’t have full frame 4K slow motion. Which might hinder you in run and gun situations. That said, the Codecs are pretty great for the cropped 4K 60 and image is awesome as long as you’re not fighting low light. The lenses for Lumix are getting fantastic, and cost effective which is something I think about but not everyone does. I haven’t ever used BM cameras, they seem great, but I’ve landed on Lumix as the best Hybrid for me after using canons and Sonys. Ultimately my advice is to rent before you buy. 👍🏼
@@TheCarCreative Haha yeah, I always try to do as much research as I can before purchasing. But you're right, no amount of information compares to physically testing the camera, I will definitely be taking this advice and running with it lol This will be my first dive into full frame, whether Lumix or BM. You mentioned you've used sony and canon a lot in the past, is there a noticeable improvement using Full Frame vs crop sensor cameras when it comes to dynamic range and low light performance in post?
@maxvorobey1316 Awesome man. Nothing better than getting a camera in your hands. That was another big selling point for me was how the Lumix felt and the button layout. YES! That is truly the main difference. Big time changes in ability to push iso if need be on full frame sensors. Other smaller sensors you need to be very careful. Lumix has dual native iso also which is helpful, not sure if BM cameras have that but wouldn’t be surprised if they did.
@@TheCarCreative Sweet, always good to hear first hand accounts. Excited to test it out. Appreciate the help, look forward to seeing what else you come out with, subbed!!
You hit the nail on the head the cost to change from Sony to LUMIX is keeping me away. I do like my Sony cameras but cost is keeping me away from entertaining the idea. I work with someone who films with the GH5 and 6 and they are great. I can see the L mount expanding but I another thing I like about the e-mount is the 3rd party lenses
And most of those 3rd party lenses are available for Lumix L mount as well by the popular brands like Sigma, 7Artisons cine etc. But the image quality coming from the Lumix prime lenses has stunned me, they are so sharp and so precise at such a good price point. Even manual operations is so nice for the videography, their rings are so smooth.
Lumix need to make an apsc camera. Many of those affordable anamorphic and cine lenses are apsc so it would further cement their position in the video space. Also faster sensor readout Speed
I have been thinking about switching from Sony to lumix, im just scared to make the jump lmaoo, currently i have the a7iii i want great pro features with out spending 5000$ with Sony they require you to spend more then i can right now. How is the auto focus with the s5ii? N what is the difference between the s5ii n s5iix?
Love this guy's! Especially as both of you combined were a huge influence on me switching to my S5, two of the most down to earth enjoyable creators right now in my eyes 🤟🏼🙌🏼
Ya that guy is a legend! He’s helped me a ton in my journey to Lumix, and the fact we got to meet up in California was wild. Glad you’re loving your Lumix as much as we do. 👊🏼
I am a new photographer and I bought the S5IIx to shoot mainly track and field. How dow you get the AF to focus on the subject in the center and not the subjects on the side? I have this issue when shooting the long jump.
@@TheCarCreative I have used full area and zone both with subject detection. On the long jump I am at the end of the pit and the camera will focus on the workers on either side of the lane instead of the athlete running down the lane to jump.
A great video guys, enjoyed your banter. I’ve got the Sony A1 and the a7Siii and gave up on SLOG3 for HLG for ease and convince so I listened to your comments about V-log and monitoring. Sony have a culture that makes many, me included look to leave, which is quite a statement given the investment in glass but I worry about auto-focus which is essential to me. LUMIX almost have me and your video helps.
Cheers much So 4k120 has a crop correct? Also I've seen it lose autofocus on other reviews A7rV can autofocus on seven different subjects Colours and looks are subjective Sony also created that smooth focus pulling feature Time to put your money where your mouth is and do some tests
@@lonceysbusiness333 yes it crops slightly but not so that you’d worry. It’s awesom. I use 8K not for delivery, but to compensate for how crap I am at framing, I can always frame slightly wider and then choose the framing later in post with an ability to crop four times and still keep resolution. As you can imagine, this is really powerful when you use it in this way.I was a little disappointed to see the lack of high frame rates. I look forward to watching one of your next videos guys.
I would definitely pay more money to have an S5III with 4K120 full frame & the 6K open gate. That’s the only thing that I can say right now keeps me from selling my Canon gear. Thanks for making these great videos and showing us lumix capabilities!
It’s the one thing I wish it didn’t have but is certainly manageable and I’ve never seen a quality degradation. That said, full frame 60fps would be all I ever need.
No need to apologize. Everyone has the best camera for them, but I am seeing more and more people move towards Lumix, or have a desire to but are stuck in an expensive system. Regardless it’s a great camera and I’m just trying to open peoples eyes to another option other than the massive brands of canon and Sony.
@@TheCarCreative I don't follow brands, just what suits my needs and budget. My fav pics were shot with Oly Em10; most pics in my archive shot on Panny G85. Recently sold my Sony A7r3 and bought a barely used A7III for $900, Samyang 24mm 1.8 $280, Tamron 28-200mm for $520. So for $1700 my camera needs are fully met. Brand new Sony a7III cost $1250. Someday I may go back to Lumix.
