Well, at least I know to cross this off as a potential new case-saw a more positive review, but wooooo, you sure got into a lot more detail about the problems with this case. Honestly, I love the blue version of the Fractal Era 2, but I wanted a bigger case and bigger mobo for more internal storage. Guess I'll see how the Evolv X2 pans out later, heh.
@@hiriotapa1983 Yeah, probably manosphere inspired drop-shipping scheme. The next step is flood with RU-vid sponsorships and lease the cheapest lamborghini
Yep same, when I saw the opening I was like...eh this maybe is one of those ”trend copy” products but maybe it has some redeeming qualities, hence the review. Then Steve said, 240$...yeah right.
And then immediately throwing them away when they see the cost of retooling their 2008 chassis over slapping more plastic on. _"Nah bro, we already got this space-age design stuff in the bag - they can keep their nice ballistic mounted side panel... we got em beat on the dust/airflow suppression and RGB baby!"_
"The Silence was Deafening". *Referring those "Just for Show, not for Use" Computer Cases with absolutely abysmal Airflow that even with around 10+ Fans running as 100%*.
The kinetic side panel opening system is actually a feature: When you're in a heated gaming situation, the room temperature may naturally rise as you sweat and as your table shakes while you're trying to ace clutch the round your computer could naturally use more airflow so the side panel falls open by itself to give the GPU more access to air and keeping the temperatures cooler. As a happy side effect it also may cause elevated heart rates, thus enabling you to react faster.
@@GamersNexus May I use you as a reference in my CV for said marketing positions? Kind of like a marketing blurb. "Wow! That's some really good science." - Gamers Nexus.
@@GamersNexus I enjoy it. It's usually quiet, some weeks (like this one) I have the entire operations center to myself, and if nothing breaks I have lots of free time to catch up on things. You guys have gotten me through many a boring night. 🙂
I love your humor. The fact that you're the most trustworthy reviewers in this space is one thing, but you're also having fun while keeping the standard so high. Never change
If Steve wasn't into tech, he really wouldn't be out of place in the British comedy circuit at all. His humour is so quintessentially British and is just funny.
Called it. When Steve started talking about the graphical air flow of the case I KNEW it was gonna push the side panel off. It breaking the glass was funny and unexpected. Thanks Steve.
@@GamersNexus I want to say yes, but I also am afraid you will take it as a challenge and next time we'll see Steve reviewing fluid dynamics in inflatable jacuzzi in mankini.
@@GamersNexus I immediately knew you'd love to 3D animate a running gag, but you guys have been working your asses off this year and didn't know if you'd have the bandwidth to 3D animate said gag. It's awesome that you came through with that little extra!
Back at it heavy this past month! Love doing case reviews since the mechanical aspects are pretty fun. Good cases also tend to stay relevant for a long time.
@@sj1547 Cant wait to get mine! Its not out in Europe yet but Antec said mid October when I contacted them. The Flux Pro is the prettiest case I have ever seen :D
Hey steve @@GamersNexus In ever more expanding market of mini itx case on western market, maybe you'll find some interesting one from chinese market. For how high the western itx cases priced, we need more exposure on chinese one. The newer and most discussed online on sff forum is something from shinysnake/flash scale. They have some case like meshilicous and terra with a slight modification for much cheaper price, around 60-100 usd with included riser and pass thru dp/hdmi included.
this is the issue with big sponsored events like the Tryx one: you see your favorite influencer at the event and then incorrectly think the product/company is trustworthy and has the influencer's blessing... meanwhile, the influencer is just there because they're being paid to attend (which is totally fine) but often times the company will take as many photos of them next to the products as possible, for their marketing/promotion like "hey look! here Steve is standing next to our KAKA case, so obviously Steve loves our cases"
In our situation also, we don't take money to attend unveil events ever. We view it as a major ethics breach and our job is to cover products at events for viewers. By paying others to go to them, it makes everyone look like they take money.
> Getting Embargo'ed to prevent GN's power of thorough testing ruin their launch > GN's obliterated the launch anyway Steve is, *literally,* unstoppable
From a customer/viewer perspective, there's a stark contrast between recent cases you've looked at. Antec, once dominant case brand, now offering reasonably-priced, high quality cases without making a big deal about their return to relevancy. This brand meanwhile, has seemingly unlimited money to blow on showy marketing, but immediately stumbled at actually making a decent product.
@@GamersNexus Honestly, even before this review I was suspicious of Tryx for trying to drum up so much hype for products that aren't traditionally very exciting. Now we see the results of an actual product, I wonder if the industry alumni in the company were just c-suite execs and marketing people. It looks like more money went into marketing and impressing influencers than actual product development for this many flaws to ship.
I remember losing my shit with the announcement that Mike Chin from Silent PC Review and Antec teamed up to produce what would become the legendary P180. Just about everyone's mid-2000 custom built PC used that.
2... 240 dollars? Do these guys know that a o11 evo is less than 200 dollars? Are you sure you didn't misread Steve? 2 bucks and 40 cents seems more appropriate
God DAMNIT. I was in the middle of writing "Luca stands for Last Universal Common Ancestor... Yeah, we still need to evolve a bit huh"... Gonna show off how smart I am but nooooo, Steve had to put it in the video and it came up AS I WAS WRITING IT
I thought the pointing out of fit and finish issues were funny until I saw all the issues in actually trying to build in this thing. God, that was so much secondhand pain. And here I thought I had trouble shoving in a third 3.5" HDD into my O11D EVO.
I almost turned off after seeing all the faults in the first segment of the video, but I stuck around for the roasting. Im glad i did. Very entertaining 😂
😱The Intro gave me H500P Flashbacks Edit & then Steve replayed it 😂 16:31 Andrew you nearly Killed me hacking up a lung laughing so hard 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The glass panel falling out in even the 3D render is such a troll. 😂 Speaking of those animations, I really appreciate them. Air flow and the impact of different fan configurations are hard things to parse without a visual demonstration. Definitely could've used these animations when I built my first PC a few years ago.
Good old marketing comparing their products to.. hmm.. yeah.. "others", lets not dwell on the specifics like "what other case" or "does the thing youre comparing it to even exist" :D
This review might come off harsh, but if they ultimately care about what you had to say, they'll make it better. I had the pleasure of talking to Hyte's marketing manager last July and the conversation naturally led to Steve's review of the Hyte y40. To paraphrase, she said it was disheartening, but hey, the criticisms in that video helped with the creation of the Hyte y70 Infinite, "Which Steve really liked!". If they take this to heart and use it to improve, everybody wins.
The airflow animation is why even when I have absolutely no interest in the case being reviewed, I still watch the video for the entertainment GN brings.
i loved how u prerolled a few of the previous airflow animations to create a sense of a systematic and serious approach only to then land the punchline with the breaking glass way stronger - i really did not see that one coming xD i laughed for a while ^^
While I hate to see it. The negative reviews really make me crack up sometimes - this one was particularly funny LOL! Also that continual skit of the panel falling off was great, I could barely breath during the airflow animation segment especially. Thanks for the hard work GN!
I will not buy a pc case that hasn't been reviewed by Gamers Nexus. Not for myself personally, and not for the business I work for. These guys are the best!
I'm not sure if it was intentional, but when you swung open the HDD door, seeing the BUILD ME was perfect. It's very fitting for a case that might win worse case of the year.
What's funny is that they're space-science nerds and didn't think to reinforce the windows on their spaceship-inspired computer case For all the non astro-physics and rocket science appreciators, the joke comes from the fact that big, fancy windows shouldn't be on spaceships because of their fragility. If you _are_ going to add windows you need to make sure they're _thick_ and only attached to sealed rooms, otherwise you run the risk of imploding the entire thing which would kill all the passengers and damage the components (arguably the worse outcome) Awesome video as always!
@@DrylochRefusing delivery seems silly to me. It’s not the delivery company’s fault or responsibility that you don’t want the case. Whether you do or do not take the package makes no difference in trying to get a refund/return from Tryx since they aren’t the shipping company.
I remember you commenting on the restricted airflow from that base during Computex and thinking to myself "yep, they definitely are not going to fix that, are they?" Turns out it was way worse than any of us thought.
You have such a grace of making a review of a below average product sound so much more interesting and polite at the same time. You clearly have a British perspective to your reviews 😊
I feel like we need a GM certified simulation to showcase all the possible ways this pc case can fail and/or deviate from intended engineering solutions put in place. Edit: ok I swear I did not skip forward in the video to see you bloody did it already at 16:30 hahaha. That's amazing
No fans for that price?! As I am watching this, I feel like they accidentally misplaced the comma in their price... I wasn't aware Steve could talk this fast! Okay. Bonuspoints fornthe cat friendly box!
Im glad you are dping the airflow graphics! I find myself having to draw my own a lot for people. Many, even some that say they have been building a "long time" have a lot of trouble understanding flow patterns. They seem to think more fans always equals better "flow" when in many cases, 2 fans would do much better than what they have swirling the same hot air around for way too long. Hopefully people listen! 🙏🏽
I keep watching these even though at this point I'll be buried with my fractal torrent. It may not have the crown anymore (which is exciting) but its hard to find a reason to ever upgrade.
That animation had me howling with laughter. Fantastic comedic timing, loved it. I hope TRYX gets better, it's so good to see some new names in the space, AND trying new things!
After Asetek drove up the price of CPU cooling I have little patience or love for their attempts to expand and turn their consumer gouging windfall into a corporate behemoth.
This is truly a case that was designed by a. people who don't build PCs and b. probably designed digitally in one go by a disjointed team, and then sent off to production without much meaningful build testing (which would explain things like the redundant fan mounts).
Ahh I get it now. Three good cases, an actually good prebuild, all this was a setup. The universe wanted Steve to have that bit of hope start coming back only to have it fall faster than the side panel of this case.
