The Yacht Master in titanium looks great, I’d of like to see a touch of Red in the lettering like it’s predecessor in Rose Gold. The Yacht Master should continue to offer an optional 40mm size ….. then again if there not available to purchase what difference does it make 😂.
@@DesignAtelier the don’t want to do anything about that. It’s not the same as can’t do anything about it. The solution is going boutiques only, a very expensive solution they don’t want to implement.
@@bbrebozo6417 it creates delusional hype on their brand which is what make their watches more desirable so they clearly do not want to break that😂. In return, while the watch enthusiasts are in drought the greys are full. SIKE
I absolutely love Titanium! My dream watch has always been the Rolex Submariner in Titanium. I never thought it would happen. Now, I think it will. Happy Days!
While the oysterflex functionality works well on an explorer, Rolex has never used in on a non-PM watch, not that they couldn’t, but I see them keeping it that way for awhile longer.
Fair point. I think Rolex such buddies with Hublot they can’t put them rubber bands on anything else non-precious metal. If Rolex won’t do it, I’m sure others will.
I agree, I’d like to think they will start to shift to titanium for their real and true tool watches. I will be first in the Queue for a watch I won’t be able to buy 😂
A 43mm Seadweller with no cyclops (or even no date) is where Titanium should be going next. Basically a larger Seadweller 4000 in TT. Throw that cool new Yahctmaster bezel on it while you're at it. Ultimate tool watch.
I'd prefer to see a 41 or 42mm titanium Sea-Dweller (case and bracelet) with red "Sea-Dweller", no cyclops, and a fully-lumed, matte bezel insert made of ceramic or oxalic anodized aluminum.
Did you see the advertisement video Rolex produced for the 1908? How many times did they say “explorer”, I lost count. It’s about getting consumers to accept the 1908 by being more like the explorer rather than naming a line after an 16th century Italian goldsmith (not butch enough). If that’s not spaghetti on the wall.
Good review. The new Yacht-Master 42 in RLX Titanium looks like a winner in both looks and performance. I'm just curious about the bezel action on it. How will it feel and sound? What I don't quite understand is why they went with the Easylink instead of the Glidelock on a $14K USD Sub-like watch. Rolex seems pretty stubborn in not putting it on all of their sport models. It's 2023. It shouldn't just be relegated to the Subs.
I saw the title and immediately thought, nothing can change the way I think about Rolex. Then I watched this video and realized; there is still nothing that can change the way I think about Rolex.
Titanium is a fad, just like Bronze was a few years ago. Who cares about Bronze in 2023? No one. Bronze was the hotness, but it's no-longer hot. Now Titanium is the hotness. And in a few years it won't be, and no one will care about it. Looking forward to seeing all those bronze and titanium watches getting dumped on Chrono24. Precious metals and stainless still will always dominate.
I agree that precious metals have an enduring quality. Titanium will be more than a fad than bronze as bronze is really an inferior metal outside of aesthetics. Titanium at least serves a greater function than just its visual appeal
Titanium is a very strong, non-magnetic, lightweight, and highly corrosion-resistant material that also has a unique, stealthy look to it. It's no fad. It's the future, and not just for Rolex, provided the titanium supply doesn't run dry.
Given it's so abundant that it's present in almost all bodies of water, all living things, I kind of doubt that we'll run out of supply anytime soon. That being said while more expensive to work with, titanium alloys produce arguably better end products than steel. Except for maybe the slightly darker color, which is of course a taste thing. I'd go for a titanium Explorer or Submariner in a jiffy. But this YM will do until those happen, if ever. I'd also have bought a Pelagos back when it was released, were it not made out of the pure Titanium Grade 2, which is too soft and scratch-prone. To this day I don't understand why Tudor didn't go with Grade 5. But glad Rolex did.
I like almost all of the new stuff from Rolex. Not in the market for any new Rolex at the moment......I have enough. More than enough. Love the exhibition case back. Love the 1908. Even like the titanium Yachtmaster. Damn shame the Milgauss has finally gone away, though that makes my green-tint crystal Milgauss more valuable. However, that idiotic Day-Date with that polka-doted dail and that puzzle dial? What in the blue blazes of Hell are they smoking over there in the land of chocolates and clocks? Just stop it.
Ceramic bezels are not made for brutal usage - they crack. Same for its laughable Swatch-level water resistance. No go. Definitely a disappointing fashion piece.
You get it! This Yacht-Master is the absolute highlight of the 2023 releases. (1) The Clear-case back on the new Platona is totally unnecessary - we accept and understand that inside a Rolex there beats an exceptional yet unbeautiful heart. No one needs to see it. (2) The Cellini is now a 1908, and no one will still buy it. And it's hideous. Or at least hideously boring. (3) The Yellow Gold GMT on a Jubilee is handsome, but it's just the usual swaperoo. (4) The Tiffany Clown Balloon OP is simple hideous to anyone ove 8 years old. No one wants the watch to wear, they just think it will be an investment. But the Yacht-Master. Now that's a watch EVERYONE with a 7-inch wrist or more will lust after - prices will be nuts, because buyers won't want to flip. There's a million options for the more modest-sized wrist, Daytona's wear so small that it's considered unisex, even the 41mm Sub isn't really 41. The Pepsi is gorgeous - but too small if you have anything approaching an eight inch wrist like me. The Sea-Dweller 43 looks fantastic on my big wrist, but it's just a bit heavy, due to the stupid helium escape valve to n-o-b-o-d-y needs, or even wants. Only the latest Explorer II ticks all the boxes (yes, of course I have one). My dream Rolex was always a 43mm Sub, but the new YM may be even better - because it's not only thin, it's light as a feather, and hard as nails. There'll be more like it coming, but It's place in Rolex history is assured, as the first non-stupid Rolex Titanium watch. I want it. I want it BAD.
Totally agree with everything here. That 1908 for 22K is just murder without consequence. And yes this 42 yachty will be the hottest piece in the next 24 months like what tim musso said.
THANK U, We all know ROLEX R No.1..However I am gonna say it, It's Called "Watches & Wonders" NOT "Rolex & Wonders"..! What's the point as U wont be able to BUY any of these watches Anyway..!
