Yoshi is the perfect character. Playing defensively? Let me choose from the 50+ unblockables I can do. Playing offensively? Let me do a flash to big damage. You've only been playing Tekken for 5 years? Watch all this crazy knowledge checks I can do. Unblockable to rage art. Unscaled combo ender. Life steal. Big fucking damage. It does not end with Yoshi. Oh and of course, his inputs are now easier.
Yoshi downplayers on their way to explain how their character defenitely is not top 5 in this game. Seriously, in Tekken 7 he was annoying but at the expense of having weak fundamental tools and worse damage. In this game he is so extremely frustrating to fight even when you know exactly what he's doing. Law is stupid strong as well but with him at least i know what to expect and can form basic gameplan before the match
It was a thing in T7 and is called a "flash punishment". It requires of you the knowledge of specific safe moves with little to no pushback. The number of these mover do grow in back to the wall situation, yet it is not something that "carries" a player, since it demonstrates his knowledge of the game and experience with a character. People who hate flash the most don't realise how easy it is to punish the move not on reaction, but on the read when like 98 % of Yoshi players just use it in primitive and repetative setups.
@@folivora6628 the presence of flash in his kit kills your ability to play offensively; not from using it, but from the idea that he might use it i wouldn't mind the character so much if he didn't have access to this insane, omnipresent defensive presence that unilaterally steals your pressure from you because you need to second guess yourself every time you get an advantage over him
Needs to drain more health. This corny mf can heal with heal mechanics AND steal health with other moves. Back then he didnt heal from any of his moves, but its way too broken in Tekken 8
He really don’t, this law aint block none if his lows, mashed constantly knowing flash exists and still managed to win. Yoshi is fine, ppl just need to take accountability not pressing buttons
@@ARR-g1q i play as and against yoshi so i know how to counter him. He got so many highs, mad risky moves he usually just kills himself so i let them kill themselves.
need someone to explain to me how the unblockable is not cheap. it's evasive and can't low jab, mid and highs will whiff. there's 50 different options yoshi can go for besides the unblockable. when it's done after a setup or behind the wall or if you're expecting oki. good luck guessing. only yoshi players willing to swear to god their character is not broken
there was more laws than yoshis in top 16 ? Where is the yoshi flooded top 8? Remember leroy t7 evo? these yoshi players aren't even placing, and no one is in a rush to go pick him up.
The biggest problem with Yoshi is his damage output, and I think spin should cost more health, to make up for how fast he gets out of the corner. Everything else is typical "I refuse to learn the matchup" type complaining, because the character has a way of making people feel stupid.
He need more buffs 8 frams homing mid which is unbreakable , unblockable and infinite wall range with 250 DMG and garantee followup for the next rounds
@@OctopusH2O have u ever played t6 Bruce , paul both had a unblockable guaranteed after the bound if opponent walk ups or tech roll towards side and we can bound them again, flash is nothing
Seeing people complain about characters while downplaying others is really funny. This isn't hard to understand, every character in this game is broken, the core mechanic of the game is broken. If they wish to change this they would have to start nerfing a lot of things and adjusting others.
Okay lets analyze the clips to see how truly stupid the character is. <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="1">0:01</a> ssr at -8 into df2, then a reactable setup. Knowledge check basically. <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="30">0:30</a> ducking the grab and then getting counter by 10 hit combo, where the 1,2,1 string is -16 unlike the character you are playing where you can hit confirm 1,1 into 1 in heat without any risk. <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="43">0:43</a> got hit by a launch punishable low in a stance. Nothing stupid so far. <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="49">0:49</a> literally flying into the air with the most obvious animation that screams sidestepping and still got ch launched. <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="60">1:00</a> this I will give to you. But be fair, you could have not entered the stance and basically df2 him. So instead of a mixup you have a read to launch. Or canceled the stance with df,n,2. Both will launch. And no it doesn’t evade homing it just that he is too far from it. But true spin should get always clipped by a homing move. But if you think about it. This will make spin always lead into consistent whiff punish instead of just running from the mixup. <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="72">1:12</a> unconformable string the is -17 where law has 1,1,1 and is -11? b1,2,2 is -14. who are hit confirmable and are true string mixups and can heat dash into +5 ob. Now is this the best demonstration of how “stupid” this character is? Like I don’t get it. I can see the replies coming from a kilometer. LoOk aT tHe dOwNPlAyiNg. YUo aRe aFrAid oF nErFS. I played in the last three month more matches in ranked by far with Steve, Law, Jin, Lee. I never come “downplaying” Law or Jin especially anywhere. But for some reason with Yoshi people all of a sudden are just spreading misinformation. And it happened before, me alone against the whole community of Tekken. I remember till this day when everyone was crying about Devil Jin. Just because they were getting knowledge checked like the gentleman in this video. And Jin was the high mid tier where DJ is top 3. And now I won. Literally won. People realized. And Yoshi is just a bigger pill to swallow but time will show. Just a couple of tech removed and the character is a bin tier.
Spitting facts only stupid character i can see is Law there. If someone can lab Yoshi enough, they can see all his set ups even with flash to punish him hard
I hate to say it but I saw a video on that spin move he does and his shit always evades homing moves. Even in Tekken 7. It's just seems like a new problem because of LITERALLY EVERYTHING ELSE THIS MAN HAS IN HIS WACKY ASS KIT
no one denies yoshi is strong asf but this is a compilation of you eating every knowledge check in the book and randomly mashing at fullscreen LMAO also, due to spin having recovery period (unlike sidestep), you are supposed to beat it by realigning with walking forward or wavedash
There are other tekken youtuber making video about yoshi being broken and oh boy the essay the commenters wrote just to downplay yoshi bcs they afraid of him getting nerfed is insane. Unblockable as an option of mixup is already hard to deal with i dont think it makes thing hard for yoshi at all and thats one of his biggest strength.
Kuma can cook Yoshi hard cuz he is a hard counter for him. Even his spinning doesn't work against bear's tracking mid. 🐻 Yoshi uses unblockable low? Use a jumping slap on him, then slap his head when he's down. 🐻 He's using his bad breath? Slide down using kuma's low double foot. 🐻
I think he can reach wall in beach stage from roundstart position with a combo that's almost just d2,2(,2) 4-5 times If I am not wrong: WS2,1 > d2,2 > d2,2 > d2,2,2 > !T > DEEP dash > d2,2,2 > !W > d2,2,2
Y'all took the bait, this vid is about Law, and perfectly showcases his fundamental strengths, explosiveness and bunga potential. But it's funny seeing folks who doesn't know a thing about Yoshi, discuss how he "should be nerfed". Hit the lab, kids.
Ah, we've come full circle to calling Yoshi a cheese character again. Justified cus his fundamental game is actually good now, but it is pretty funny to me nonetheless
Yep, Yoshi is absurd. Combination of huge damage and this amount of bulshit gimmicks is absurd. In t7 and earlier it was fine since he had to win a lot of interactions with his relatively small damage and you could be fine with a couple of failed mix-ups against him. But now... Oh boy, thats a damage same as paul or even higher from what feels like any launcher or unblockable. Only his damage is a problem. Turn it down like 1.5 to 2 times and he'll be still great and not the best character in the game.
I was generally agreeing on the "big damage" part on Yoshi, for many months now. But it feels like it's more of a cassette at this point, a mute point that people just regenerate, because they want to say something - but not something too specific that can make them get laughed at or ignored (eg. hopkick too strong, flash too op, 10-hit combo broken, etc.) After examining every character's damage in this game, I've come to the conclusion that, first of all, almost everyone churns ludicrous amounts of it, and most importantly, Yoshi's is average at best. Quite low punishment damage, along with very below average poke damage, and a decent combo damage, with great carry and wall damage. There's not a single universe in the realms of logic where this is "huge". And I may be too generous calling his combo damage decent, as I can name at least 15 chars with higher, if not more - that's the definition of average. This isn't day1 any more, flash got its scaling neutered, jack infinites are gone, and people need to start seeing, thinking and speaking for themselves.
The thing with yoshi in this game is that it's easy asf to play, in Tekken 7 was annoying but who played yoshi, now in a game based in offensive play I can't play offensive because flash exists, b3 evades everything and he has 20 unblockable highcrushing low homing launchers
Yoshimitsu have been my main since I started Tekken... The fact that I can lose by my own choice after beating the bejeezus out of my opponent makes it better
lol hating on yoshimitsu, but too stupid to do the simple punishes, but hey this comment will be seen as downplaying for whatever reason 1. <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="6">0:06</a> WS+1, 2, second attack is duckable then you can launch-punish 2. <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="32">0:32</a> 1, 2, 1 third hit is duckable then you can launch-punish 3. <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="72">1:12</a> mashing after heat burst where you are -5 is your own risk, with his B+2, 1 which has Startup-Frame 14 he will win everytime 4. <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="85">1:25</a> always jab-check 3~4, in this case you could float him out, for a mini-combo
