The mirrors are used as a optical illusion of a bigger room! They do it on HGTV all the time in small spaces.

Thanks for the tour. It is a huge cabin. I just wonder if they have "opposites" where the couch/chair is closer to the balcony. I have a deluxe balcony booked for the Mereviglia in Feb, and a bid in on a suite with jacuzzi. Fingers crossed. I find the prices reasonable.

Hey J. Perhaps one day I’ll be able to splurge on a suite. For now it’s ocean views and balconies for us. Not bad at all. $1300/person is amazing for a suite.

I have BTW checked out the very top of the market cruise tours on site here. Silver Sea. Jay once you get a taste of that, you would never be able to go back to the booze cruise ships. Some of those all inclusive trips ( and they mean ALL inclusive) where nothing at all onboard costs extra can be yours say a 6 night cruise along the South American West Coast starting at only 7 Grand USD. Chalk that up to, when I get my 2nd Diamond play button on site, tour. 596 passengers on the Silver Moon. They say ultra luxury and they mean it. But for 1/6th the price that suite looks real nice. Safe travels Jay and merry Christmas.

Jay, this review has convinced me to try MSC. I can overlook the bland tasteless food as my wife likes bland tasteless food. She would love the jacuzzi however! Now if we could just get them to sail out of New Orleans!

Their food is designed for a European palate. 10-15 years ago the EU went on a major health campaign and vastly reduced the salt and sugar in all of our day to day foods. To begin with we noticed that our recognisable brands like our McDonald’s, crisps such as Hula Hoops and cereal like sugar puffs tasted different and had a new recipe. Nowadays we are use to the reduced salt and sugar and that’s how we eat. I must say I struggled with the food in America it tasted way too salty, sugary and rich for me. Americans say MSC’s food is bland but then again I find American food too rich and salty . I hope MSC keep their food in keeping with the European reduced salt / sugar and fat it’s what we are use to now and cutting back on unnecessary salt sugar etc is not a bad thing.

Jay, I would never use the jacuzzi in a "cheap" suite. You have to wonder why it is so less expensive. They might not sanitize the jacuzzi between sailings. WDYT??

I have a question. why do modern showers do no longer have a shower door or curtain? If you take a shower or bath water will splash all over the bathroom floor where you or who ever you travel with could slip on the wet floor.

That half door thing is very 'European', and lots of hotels in Europe have that. I too don't like it. It doesn't keep water or the nice warm steam inside the shower.
