@@zayn659I too am Indian but let's not do that here. Samosas are also not authentically ours but most people call it an Indian snack. Please respect every culture.
@@augustroover You are confusing between Sambusa and Samosa. Sambusa is cooked differently and Samosa is cooked differently. If we go by that Pulao, Kulfi, Biriyani, none of this is ours totally. We got these food due to colonizations of Mughals who used Indian spices to cook these
@@kavk that's the colour of the spices. You can see the onions were just translucent when spices were added. Sorry to get technical. Also, if you're telling me the onions were cooked with spices for that long, it's incorrect as well. Spices release their oil if cooked for long.
This is not that recipe. If you want the authentic taste try cooking the onions, tomatoes and spices together and cook it until the ingredients kind off melts and start separating oil
@@mangopudding5979 we have a large South Asian community, and it’s reflected in the food. Along with enjoying Indian dishes, we share a lot of the dishes through fusion. For instance chapati is also a staple in our cuisine, introduced during colonial times.
@@mangopudding5979i’m not tanzanian, but i’m pretty sure it’s because around 400-200 years ago (somewhere around that time) a lot of indian merchants sailed to tanzania to trade, and eventually spreading cultural influence over time
This is very similar in Kenya where Kenyans of South Asian descent (i.e. Kenyan Indians) were included as the 44th tribe in the country. In Kiswahili, they are known as "muindi". I love their cuisine! I highly recommend Chicken tikka and Chevda ❤
I learned this from an Indian woman who cooked really good Indian food. The best way to do the chickpeas is to take dehydrated ones and let them soak over 24 hours in water. This will make the chickpeas so much better like so much better.
@@punjabimundaUKuh it takes like 5 minutes. you have to plan ahead. we soak chickpeas, kidney beans, dried peas etc in the morning before leaving for work if it's for dinner or soak it night if it's for lunch/breakfast
Most of the Indian recipes are vegetarian so if you wanna try some new vegetarian food then you should definitely browse for some Indian food. Most popular thing among us vegetarians is Paneer (cottage cheese). It has so many variants such as Paneer Tikka, Butter Paneer, Spinach Paneer, etc.
It is so nice to see not just the normal indian spices but also the technique used .. hate when everyone just dumps everything before frying/sauteéing onions and ginger garlic paste
U said it 😅 typical one pot one stop meal, now even indian YTubers show such hurried versions for popular easy/quick recipe likes .. Here she is taking effort to follow proper sequence n procedure.. ❤ she even mashed some of the peas for the gravy thickening n masala infusing !! ❤
I agree. Following proper technique to allow the onions to cook properly, spices too It's so important to have these cook well. Cardinal to any masala. Love the Indian part of me .
Does curry powder also includes in our Indian cuisine?? I don't know especially I have only always lived in India so grown on Indian food but never tasted that s**t... 😅
I had this at a restaurant last week for the first time. I googled the recipe bought all the ingredients. I’m cooking it this week. Thanks for the visual.
As an Indian this made me so happy that you know about this stunning meal❤ ok y'all stop in the comments, saying "anyone knows about this dish" i meant to say this in a good way, bcz most of the foreigners don't try out anything except butter chicken and naan, in tht sense i appreciated her, cuz this dish is really underrated 🙂👍🏽
😅 Funny you said that! Some people actually eat them! 🥴Someone gave my sister biryani full of them, that it’s his favourite. My sister couldn’t eat it. I usually count how many I cook them and make sure I remove them before serving .
In India we call it Chhola or Chhole (typically eaten with a Bhatura, Poori and often with rice as well). It is very popular all over India, especially among vegetarians
A very simple way to make porotha is by mixing all purpose flour with water and a tablespoon of oil to make the dough. Then letting it sit for couple hours and then section them and shallow fry them in some.
I wish I wasn't allergic to chickpeas, but I make the same dish with red lentils. I always try to make enough to last two days, but no matter how much I make, we never have enough leftovers to feed us all the next day because we all love it so much. My teenager will eat it cold from the fridge! (And apparently she didn't learn that from strangers, I do too.)
Hlo mam, you can definitely make curry from other pulses too , we do it always and it tastes delicious 😋, recipes are easily available ❤ thankyou for respecting our cuisine 🙏🙏🙏🙏
@@paranoiaproductions1221 then she is already adding them individually why add curry powder then?? If she needs to add more then she can just add more...
I am happy to see that our cuisine is liked by everyone in the world.there many more wonderful dishes which you all will come to know slowly but surely besides butter chicken.
I’m Italian & this dish looks amazing! I love chickpeas & these ingredients really change up how to eat them. Yum I have to make it! Thanks for sharing! 😍
No. I cannot bear Indian food sorry🙏🏻💜 (& many ppl cannot - the pungent everything is not nice to a lot of the World unfortunately, sorry💜💜) It's the Cumin - that "hum" underneath that ppl rlly don't like & (espc) the Garam Masala the Cardamom (& espc the Fenugreek!🙈🙈 I cannot bear Fenugreek - although it is good for you apparently!) I love spicy food; love Chinese Korean & Japanese food (& some Thai food) but those pungent spices are the worst (many of us espc in Europe & Australia etc etc cannot stand those ingredients) - & tbh it all tastes like curry (& most of us hate curry) French Food is famous Worldwide & Japanese food - for being the Best in the World. Indian really isn't (& most Indian food like these curries - were created to hide the fact that there was no meat within (espc in the hottest parts of India) & to hide that some of the meat wasn't the best (mutton or goat curry fir instance - which is also a thing in the Caribbean/West Indies & Africa) (I have many Indian friends both in the UK & in Kashmir & Mumbai - the lady who delivered me (is from Kashmir even - & she + her Family arevstill v close friends with my Mum & my Family) but we are not fans of the food. It depends what you grow up eating I suppose. (I have poppadoms & mango chutney + the occasional samosa at Weddings!🤭💜🙏🏻💜🇬🇧💜 (I love poppadoms & mango chutney🎉🎉 & Hindu Weddings are lovely🌸💜)
@@XXXX-uy7oh There you go, so there things you like, which is basically Indian food. The width and depth and Indian food is really huge. Curry is a small part of the cuisine, grow up.
@srikanthmandela2511 Get a clue funny face. I said I like mango chutney. & carefully explained that we in Northern Europe hate that pungent cumin/coriander & other heavy pungent spices because they are vile & in case you weren't aware - all of those heavy curries ooze out from your pores the next day. I speak three additional languages fluently (& the basics + a lot more in several others; I play four musical instruments seriously well (& obtained a Degree in Pianoforte from the Royal College of Music when I was ten) & play several others quite well too. I'm a Publised Author - Books & Articles + I have another Degree & a PhD. I'm twenty eight now; I'm very grown up. Indian food - is Not the Best in the World (& many ppl don't like those pungent & heavy spices) I wrote that I like spicy food - espc Korean (& Chinese/Cantonese & more) & Japanese. I just dislike Soutt Asian food though I love my Indian friends & would never mean to be upset by that. (& in my Experience; Benjamin & espc Pakistani food is even worse. (Ofc Indian ppl make jokes about Begali & espc Pakistani food themselves.. Don't tell strangers on the Internet to grow up dear; I am not one of the kids you & your School friends pick on bc they are younger & you think that's ok! Peace🙏🏻💜🇬🇧💜
@@XXXX-uy7oh As you agree, your taste buds haven't developed. That's why you can't have anything more than salt and pepper. It's okay you will grow up over time. I am with you.
As an Indian I recommend you to make a dish called "Chole Bhature" which includes this Chikpea gravy (Chole) and a fried dish called (Bhature) u should try it coz thats the best and most popular combo with the chikpea gravy U can see the recipe for "Bhature" on youtube it needs a batter like for paratha and naan 😋
I tasted it once from my friend neighbor long time ago and I can’t forget the taste. I tried to searched but I didn’t know the name of it. Thank you so much for sharing, I’m really glad that I found finally the recipe. Mwaaaah 😘😍🙏
As a Lahori Pakistani, I would like to mention that Naan Chane is a traditional breakfast of Lahoris and you will find Naan Chane sellers in every street neighborhood of Lahore and the funny thing is that each Naan Chane seller has a different taste. It will be different but it will be delicious.
This was amazing; had to make some substitutes with whatever I had on hand, and after it was done simmering, I added some cooked cheese tortellini I had. It was really comforting!
@@beasdas4799 For westerners roti, Paratha, naan, kulcha anything with flour in it is bread. They just group all of it in one. For Indians, bread is something you get at a bakery.
Thank you for bringing in this lovely recipe❤ also it’s important that chickpeas are soaked overnight otherwise it can cause bloating(painful to some) and digestive issues
Awesome recipe. I would suggest you add the Garam Masala after the tomato puree added gets cooked and leaves out the oil. This is because there is a chance that Garam Masala could get burnt. Also another pro tip is to also add chole masala in addition to the garam masala. It has a tangy taste to it which you will love.
1)saute the onion till golden brown 2)fry the tomato puree till it releases the oil 3)it can help to cook the chickpeas in a seperate utensil while you cook the gravy and at the end mix both and cook for a few minutes.
Perfection. I'm about to embark on no sugar for a month. This is a terrific dish to sustain me. I can do this without the bread or rice. Maybe with avocado on the side. Thx.
Am an Indian and great to see that you have almost nailed it..few tips from my kitchen. Soak it for good 6-7 hours. We, then pressure cook till soft(roughly 5-6 Whistles)...rest of the process is almost same❤
This is the first Indian dish I tried. To say i fell in love with it is an understatement. The flavour is incredible and the texture is spot on especially if you cook the peas long enough they get nice and creamy. Anytime I eat Indian food this is the first thing I order. I am definitely going to be trying this recipe 😬👍
this add potatoes too and eat with bhatura/puri , I used to love it when I live in Saudi. Recipe (in video)⬇ 2 large tomatoes 2 tbsp Ghee 1 Red onion 2 cardamon pods 1 bay leaf 4 (large) garlic cloves (minced) 2” ginger (grated) 1 tsp Ground coriander 1 tsp garam malasa 1 tsp Red Chili powder 1 tsp Paprika 1 tsp curry powder 1/2 tsp Cumin AND 1/4 tsp turmeric Tomato pure (1.5-2 cups tomato liquid) Salt & pepper 1 can chickpeas 1 cup water Garnish & toppings: Heavy cream Cilantro Lemon juice Red onion (slices)
Chole bhature? Pakistan me ye nhi h kya? This chick pea curry is original product of chole bhature and every other things like kulche or naan are just replacement of bhature.
Chickpea actually has 19grams of protein per 100g so it actually a pretty good and TASTY replacement for meat. They use it in a lot of vegan burgers etc
@@Pixlesofnikki The name of the bread is called Parata Bread. I looked it up on the internet. Told the ingredients and how to make it. I watched a video.
