The discovery regarding Chopin's Sonata No. 3 was made by musicologist Hugo Leichtentritt, and documented in the following: Leichtentritt, Hugo - Analyse von Chopin’schen Klavierwerke (Berlin, 1921-22): Volume 2, 249.
