Sole ulcer it was🥳🥳 I know there is nothing to celebrate because neither do I own a cow nor am I a hoof magician like you but somehow I feel ecstatic for knowing the correct answer. Thank you providing information with such finesse that even a lay person like me could tell the difference between sole ulcer and white line defect. Thank you nate. Your videos are amazing. These videos are both a meditation, and a weekly quiz + demonstration on hoof trimming. Like. The repetition isn’t even much if an issue either way. If I was a novice trimmer I’d start from the top and work through it all. Seeing 50+ or 100+ different cases is not nothing. Whichever we are closer too. And it’s also process fir some of us if focus and relaxation in a task that is predictable, highly helpful, and a deduction process.

I especially love when you talk to us like if you're the Dora the Explorer of cow's feet ! Jokes aside though, I think it's really fun and engaging when you do so. And 9/10 times when you ask us to find the problem, I'm actually able to guess it correctly. Then I wonder why the hell on earth do I now have this knowledge, but I'm glad I do ! Maybe one day in a post-apocalyptic world, I'll end up on a farm and I'll need to diagnostic a cow's foot. Then I'll look up to the skies and say "This one's for you Nate!"

My first reaction actually *was* "it might be a sole ulcer," before you removed anything. It just didn't seem like a white line to me, though I didn't rule it out (as a rule of thumb, I don't rule out possible diagnoses until I have definitive evidence - in this case, the horn removed enough to actually see the problem). I'd also considered maybe an atypical-presentation puncture or a whole new manner of issue (just what sort of new issue, idk, but it seems cows mostly just have white line defects, sole uclers, and punctures as their pretty-much-only problems to do with their feet...and related abcesses).
