I never light a fire without water. Always spray water where you don't want the fire to go. Cause fire has a mind of its own. Even when you think you put the fire out. Always hose it down with water. To make sure it's complete out. There's always embers hidden still lit that can take off when not supervised. I haven't lit a bon fire in forever. But when I did. I hosed a ring around where the fire is so that it wouldn't pass the circle. When the fire went out. I made sure it was completely out. Before I left it unintended.

Remember, for next time, to have a 2 to 3 foot dirt fire break around the area you plan on burning, always have water near you just in case of getaway flames.

It’s a good thing your water pressure is so high. U can pull water hoses throughout your whole property and still have pressure! That’s awesome! I saw another RU-vidr do a controlled burn and their number one thing was making sure you make a track all the way around whatever you’re going to burn. They went though making a pathway all the way around. That way they could get all around in their ATV. Y’all might wanna do that on the next burn.

I know people should not tell you what to do, but my wish is you wear ear protection for everyone around those blowers and saws, etc. I worked for 20 years around machines that weren’t considered loud. But my kids would ask me to turn the tv down in the evening. 🤷‍♀️. And now I have severe tinnitus.

We’ve done this several years. Well when I say WE I mean Mike. He starts it and I watch it and then the wind gets up and swoosh it’s outta hand and we call Lula fire department. You’re right that Leighton is turning into a great man and son to his parents. The more he gets to do now on the farm the more he will be ahead of all his classmates in being a good man and a great husband to someone one day. I hope his parents keep giving him learning chores. That’s how I grew up and now I can work on most anything that happens and I don’t hardly ever have to call a repairman for anything. GREAT JOB LEIGHTON , you the man 👍🙏💪

it's going to be interesting to see how it looks in the next few days - as Steph said, it really highlighted the trails the predators have been making - maybe put a bit of a stop to them, too; at least it will change the narrative and give your boys a bit of a break to reconsider where to trap next
