Ant? Bruh have you seen his turnovers? Lack of defense, passing, tunnel vision, low IQ plays... He really just scores and that's it. I'd say Jrue is the 2nd best player in this team till now, easily! Book is better than Ant and that's why he's starting. He sets screens, doesn't waste any possessions by ball hogging, passes quick, defends pretty well and applies pressure full court.
Thank you for saying it, everyone likes to look at box score for ant and say he had a better game than book/tatum. While those 2 arent playing their best but thats because they are trying to play more team ball. If they were as aggressive as ant was, they'd have better numbers, id bet.
Ant could barely dribble the ball sometimes against the mavs. Jrue is prolly the most underrated player in the NBA. Bro made kyrie virtually useless during that championship
Even as a Curry fan, gotta agree with that Jrue being their 2nd best player so far. Him or AD. But if Curry goes berserk like he did against Serbia, then that's always the recipe for US to look dominant against anybody by having those blowout wins 😂
@@Lameloswaghe hasn’t looked good on defense in the Olympics. FIBA defense requires much more fundamentals that ant doesn’t have. Embiid is having the same problem
@@mattmmixeshe has great defense you can't take this person's comments as if he was just meaning for these games he said it as if that's how he plays. Even though he's the one of the best defenders in the league
It will be and i wont be surprised if they drop one cuz its fiba rules and court. The US is good at basketball and the world is good at fiba basketball, shit might not favour them for once
@@shiv.vehh…it’s just excuses South Sudan started their basketball program 14 years ago and have no indoor courts. US stars getting exposed for what they are…not as good as we think they actually are.
@@LowValueMan aint complete truth in what you're saying. The problem is that they all are number 1 or 2 options on their respective teams and to fit in as a lesser role in a team consisting of superstars could be a fkn tragedy cuz half of them dont know what to do without the ball
@@LowValueMan i still think they wont lose but they still are a bunch of african american 'humans' and last time i checked jesus was a white skin prophet
France will win in 2028. Once all these young guys from France reach star level I don’t think the us will be able to compete considering the 3 best players on this roster could very well be retired by 2028 (Bron and kd definitely, curry might have some more in the tank but not much, probably won’t be a superstar in 2028)
There are so much talent around the world now, Even in NBA you cannot blowout a team anymore, 5 years ago 20 point lead was safe in last 5 mins but it's not safe anymore. NBA has only 450 spots, see how many good players don't have a roster spot. Team USA is still dominant but in a do or die games they have to be very careful if opponent team gets hot from 3pt line at wrong time even the mightiest team like Team USA may get into trouble
You wanna know why because when teams get up 20 they keep on shooting 3s, taking bad shot selection or they go iso ball instead of slowing the game down and getting their best player in the post/mid post/pinch post where they can get a higher percentage shot.
Hali doesn’t play because the only thing he has on anyone is passing ability, he can’t defend and he is a worse offensive player than many players on the team
what i’ve noticed is that those playing in the olympics who are not in the NBA doesn’t really mean they’re bad, but them playing as a team and what seems to be easy for NBA players to beat, they have underrated traits which is their willpower, courage, perseverance and discipline. There are teams that should not come even close to beating the USA, but imo beat the USA is South Sudan bc of their traits. Sometimes talent is not enough when other teams are way more disciplined and hungry.
jayson tatum just seems like this is not his type of game and style of play, it also seems because he's not starting he can't really get into as much of a rhythm during the whole game
He was the 2nd leading scorer on the last Olympic gold medal team while coming off the bench so it's not like he can't be effective. I think its less about any individual player as they are all capable of leading teams and more just how they end up fitting in the group dynamic as a whole so some will just end up taking a step back as it's better for others to be more prominent for this group. It's just hard to know when they have such little time as a group compared to some of these other teams to fully figure out everyone's ideal rolls on the team.
You say that but his team is the closes in regards to style of play of team usa the only real difference for him is he has a different role but what made him so elite was ability to be versatile and having little ego allowing him allow he teammates to thrive
I don’t have a problem with people saying that dream team didn’t had competition and this current team has. But, turn back time to some months back when the whole World Champion of what? The United States moment happened. Many of these guys said their full US roster could take down anybody. Now look how the words have changed. The rest of the world has caught up, there are NBA players in other countries, etc. What happened to all that arrogance of before now?
Losing to Germany AKA World Champions is apparently embarrassing. No matter of superstar power on team USA , they are still people and they will make mistakes. That`s why sports are beautiful. No ?
The viewers dont deserve better. It works because the algo rewards it, and the algo rewards it because viewers dont click on videos without red arrows on it. Literally the viewers create the issue at its core. We get what we deserve.
The power of the underdog. Team USA is playing as a superstar roster seemingly relying entirely on sheer power whereas all the other teams are playing as cohesive units who play FOR each other and are actively competing to de-throne the US. Team USA is that incredibly gifted kid who succeeds with no work ethic and everyone else are the ppl that have to work for it… long term, the hard work pays off. All other teams dedicate countless hours working on moving as one unit - relocating, passing, cutting, screens - all trying to get the best shot possible / rotating and covering for each other on defense to prevent the ball from entering their hoop… meanwhile USA is only focusing on individual performances it feels like, just giving the ball to the best players and calling it a day. Opponents know exactly who they’re gonna target and will make life hell for them… oh also: “world champion? World champion of WHAT?” - that quote has never been truer than now 🤷♂️
and who are the players of crotia back then? their point guard dribble like big man in 80s. stop comparing.. those dream team are weak compare to this dream team.. stop looking back coz them and your age wont go back
@@junemarteogayon4278 Croatian team from 1992 is far better than today's South Sudan team. Dražen Petrović, Toni Kukoč and Dino Rađa are all much better players than anyone on the South Sudan team today. The Croatian 1992 team, unlike the 2024 US team, played defense and they played a good, team offense. Toni Kukoč played against Lebron and there are many players that played against Kukoč and against Lebron, KD, Curry. Dirk Nowitzki played against prime Kukoč and against most players on this US team when they were in their prime. Ask Nowitzki or many other players about Kukoč. Dražen died young, but still you can find many players that played both against him and Lebron (Garry Payton being one of them).
There should not be a few guys "expected" to lead the USA offense. Everyone should be expected to do so. You had to be afraid of everyone scoring on you with the Dream Team.
gotta give u some push back on the "huge missed call by the refs and fouled gabriel". baldy had his hand on the ball the whole time after contact with the rim. gabriel never showed possession of the ball. great d by usa
Booker has actually been really good on defense if you rewatch the games so that’s been his contribution and joel has been being used as kerr’s “Draymond” for steph, ant&bron so this bad coaching on his end for continuing to use that same strategy for almost every game they played…France shall be exciting to watch though
one thing they dont understand that there's so many scorers in this era. the old dream team will also have a hard time competing against the countries now because of the amount of talent.
The 1992 team like any team then we’re not 3p shooters, that means that the games has less space to move and attack, nevertheless, MJ team was so fast and do so much transition and mid range shooting that they were able to go through traffic making 120 and 130 points. They would destroy the open space today.
The problem is that they weren't exactly floor spacers, so they would have less space than the rest of these teams. I think you would have to play Reggie the entire game for every single game so that everyone else doesn't get sagged on the entire time.
@@erichong4786 they never played with open space, no need, their game was super efficient at transitioning fast, besides they had bird, drexler that were excellent three pointers, MJ whenever he wanted he could do three points efficiently if that was the strategy. He did it in that famous first game against the Blazers NBA final, 6 3p in first half.
@@LucianoCantabruel Bird had major back issues by 1992. Like I said, you would need to play Reggie the entire game since Drexler was actually not a good shooter. MJ wasn't either, albeit his midrange game certainly helps a bit. The 1992 dream team has major spacing issues and this point stands.
I have said it months ago, The current roster are filled with aging stars, chokers, injury prone, and role players. Lebron 39, Steph 36, KD 35. D book, Joel, Tatum all disappears in big moments. AD, Kawhi injury prone which kawhi already pulled out. The rest are just role players. You look at 1992, 1996 roster, all are LEGEND in their prime. 2008, 2012 have a lot of legends in their prime, with a few pieces to fit. I mean..... beating teams by single digit this year does not scream domination to me. the 1992 team??? Oh they just beat every single team by at least 40, thats all. How can this years team compare to the team mentioned? If Lebron, Steph, KD all minus 10 years in age, then yes, this is a crazy team. The US team will still win because of the depth, but its not one of the top ever assembled team in US basketball.
It was so blatant the foul at the last second in real time (no slo mo playback required) , that made this whole effort by refs, the committee, NBA players, etc to win at all costs beyond embarrassing...
Olajuwon became a naturalized US citizen in April 1993, which allowed him to play for the United States at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, helping the team to a gold medal
Cracks me up how people are saying "greatest team ever, better than any other dream team", and they look the way they look. Big names doesn't necessarily make for good teams.
Thing is South Sudan have hoopers who be in the US gaining experience. Folks acting like regular tribesmen just came together and played the US tough. Deng did a good job in putting it together. Royal is an American cat and everyone else play in college, pro, and NBA summer leagues.
Its funny to see tricky offensive plays these Fiba teams do that seam to confuse our guys a little.I mean Dennis Schroeder was passing like Magic Johnson 😂😂
Its really, not that complicated when a lot of the players in these other countries play in the NBA. They play against this level of competition every day. This isnt 1992, when the NBA was filled with mostly American players.
Drazen Petrovic, Sabonis, Kukoc, Marc Gasol, Fernandez, Rubio, Llul and many others were also not 'NBA players' when the Dream team faced them. Yes they might play more NBA or ex-NBA players today, but that statement lacks context.
AD is a monster on defense. Can’t win a championship without him. Jrue is another.Against tough competition, they need Steph to turn on the shooting. LB must anchor this team to win golf. KD s length is needed for both offense and defense
The rest of the world is better than they ever have been. The talent gap is narrower now than ever before. Every time we see International competitions people are surprised that players that are just journeyman or minor rotation pieces on NBA teams ball out for their national teams. Be it Parry Mills, Dennis Shroder etc. These players are still amazingly talented and fill a usually completely different role on their national teams playing the minutes and shouldering the responsibility that star players on NBA teams normally do. Not to mention most National teams that aren't the USA play together for years and regularly play basketball according to the FIBA rules. The game is different in subtle but important ways. Not nearly as much foul baiting and big men can camp out in the paint all day. The US team is mostly a bunch of entitled stars who've lived with everyone around them telling them how great they are for years on end. Living a lifestyle that has made them complacent. They don't care about the Olympics really because winning an NBA title has and always will be their main goal in their careers or for some just achieving that status and wealth that goes with being a franchise player. I dearly hope Team USA gets beaten despite the talent of some all time great players they simply don't deserve to win. Constructing a team the way they do is exceptionally arrogant.
The rest of the world did pick up, and Team USA approaches their roster selection and schemes like it's still 1992.Having James, Curry and Durant there, don't guarantee nothing.
I love how everyone keeps saying that the world teams are all guys that always play together. Dude they have leagues and teams, yeah they play together sometimes, but so do our players. They grow up playing together in aau and organizations, maybe even on college teams or through the G League and then after that they play together in their off times
A team is as strong as their weakest link. Ant, Embiid, Haliburton hasn't proven themselves trustworthy in high stake games, and may in fact cost Team USA the win at some point.
"USA wasn't even trying" ok?? that doesnt make what South Sudan accomplished any less impressive. USA clearly has the most talent, but they're going to have to work hard if they're going to get the gold.
Nah it's not a concern - because the world has caught up and team USA is aware of that and aware of the caliber of player they're up against every game unlike the fans that think every USA team should blow out everyone.
The rest of the world is just getting better while the USA national team hasn’t. It’s hard to be better than the dream team to be honest so it’s no knock on them. If team USA lose, it shouldn’t be surprising anymore even if they have all stars and superstars on there team. Other teams also have some of the best players from Europe and other great players from the rest of the world so it’s only natural team USA will struggle sometimes, especially since the rules are not nba rules. Not many players outside of the greats can perform outside of the nba rules and that’s what causes some all stars to struggle. The Olympic and fiba game is completely very different than the nba game.
Im shocked by how much the Americans showboat and carry on after baskets while either behind or in a tight game. You ain’t the Globetrotters, settle down and focus on fundamentals and your athleticism will beat us, love from the rest of the world.
Joel even said he could be the Goat if he was not injured, which is crazy blaming injuries when your the only MVP to never make the conference finals and playing horribly in close out games, he is averaging 23 PPG on 39% from the field.
Most are missing the point... Something's really awfully wrong with our NBA Superstars in this past generation. Their mindset is just a paradox. Did we see from The Orig. Dream Team any attitude or celebratory gestures after each shot? Big prob of the now is that every freakin' big shot or dunk (which were just routinely done by the MJ-led Barcelona Team) these players braggingly acts AZ IF they just did the killing moves! Ahh... They're either actually trailing or just barely winning!?What's wrong with these NBA stars!?! So much work has to be done and YET, They're already flashing as if they already won? Yo, u just almost LOST guys to teams that's unproportion to the powers ur supposed to have, who ur suppose to be burying like in their graves for crying out loud! The ONLY player I noted that have the true champs' spirit is Kawhi (when healthy to play). No fanfare; no flexing; no airplane; no too small gestures. Just the acts of a WIN when u look at the scoreboard. For these USA Team players here just barely winning means 2 things only: 1. Has the world really caught up on us that close now? OR 2. This USA Team is powered by mostly strength on paper only/ superiority complex with no action backing it up/ diva attitude they were used to on homeground being carried over to foreign soil/ no cohesion relying more on isolation plays/ prefering embarrassing close games vs. unquestionable dominance !? Y'all be the judge on that. Hard to look when the ACTUAL games commence. Me? It's a big letdown so far. I'll put it this way, I WON'T be surprised if this Team loses a game or even NOT capture the gold. I just WON'T. Even now they're clebrating games that were barely won and were ALMOST lost. Pretty DARN sad.
I think the difference beetween then and now is.. other country is improving too... We can see it... The last MVP in NBA is from Europe. So the USA current team is facing harder challenge than 92' dream team
Yes LeBron won't hog the ball and he gets Embiid touches that Ant and Tatum don't.What I hate about LeBron sometimes with this team is he only get assertive if the game gets uncomfortable.
80-90s NBA salaries were not appealing enough. For example, Croatian Dino Rada who played vs the Dream Team, made about the same money in Italy as Jordan did between 90-95. So, the "faced only 9 NBA players" is misleading.
To all people who are ridiculing this team in comparison to dream team 1.0. just know this fact that (in JJ reddick terms)compared to other countries rosters now they were playing against plumbers.
The problem isn’t that we’re losing it’s that we aren’t blowing teams out ? this new trend of bashing hating and fear of losing instead of just supporting our national team is just absolute madness to me
Winning by 1 against South Sudan is not an acceptable result. 12 of the best players in the world against players who would struggle to play in the euroleague ? Team USA always has the best roster on paper by far, and yet many teams are coming closer and closer to beating them. Eventually just having the best players will not suffice.
@@TJWest-if3ny I mean by NBA roster, we have the best player literally against every match up, from starting 5 to the entire bench. It's not surprising that people would expect more, or else the NBA is organized not by merit.
these comebacks feel like Nike marketing. They want Lebron to carry Team USA for the narrative. Disgusting. The real big problem for the USA is that everyone is as athletic as they are now. Everyone benefits from programs and camps now. And Team USA is older than everyone there. This goes for the women's team too if you didn't know.
Team USA has too much talent. Some 1st or 2nd option scorers in their nba teams are being relegated to a 3rd, 4th or even 5th option. Less touches, less rhythm in their shot.
Saying how many NBA players the Dream Team faced is IRRELEVANT because as we can see, American NBA players are all SOFT AS CUPCAKES these days with no real competitive spirit. And they’re led by LeFraud Blames. And if the best NBA player they face on Germany is Dennis Shroder, then how is that an excuse as to why they barely won???? Dennis Shroder????????
Other countries have just caught up to the US, in a major way! More access to knowledge, the money making possibilities that the US exposed to the world created more parity. We all had this mindset that the US had the best athletes. Turns out people in other countries are damn good athletes as well! And they all want to beat the US more than anything!
