We gotta appreciate how open you are about this. Not all would be able to tell their audience that "it's simply not making enough money", they would make up dumb stories and excuses. I really admire that you are being honest and (I believe I am speaking for everyone here) we all understand, videos are a bunch of work to make and you have lots of other things going on. I most certainly hope that you will occasionally return to this channel as a passion project and if you turn to the gaming side of RU-vid, I will definitly continue to watch your content. Aleksi -- I just found your channel and have watched several videos. I thoroughly enjoy and learn from them all. I thank you!! So, WAIT! Before you quit the gig (if you haven't already), I think you are leaving A LOT on the table, as we say in English. Finland is a hypnotizingly unique country and there are many, many who would love to learn more about it--if they only knew to ask. Finland has a mere 5+ million citizens--the size of how many North American, European, etc., cities?--yet has repeatedly fought and won against one of the most powerful and despotic regimes on the planet; it has the world's top performing education systems; it has (obviously) a fully performing, highly capable military; it has airlines (how many cities of 5 million do?); it has a robust social system; it is wealthy; it has a comparably peaceful and very content (on average) population; it is safe; its culture has survived and thrived for 100's of years intact; it has multiple businesses with global reach--and even a globally renown comedian! (Ha-ha...Ismo is awesome!) How in the world has little tiny Finland accomplished all of this--and so much more??? One thing in particular I'd like to know is, how is Finland handling its recent, very dramatic shift to aligning firmly with the West via NATO membership and, ONCE AGAIN, standing up to its aggressive, despotic neighbor (mouth hanging open emoji)? How are individual citizens adjusting to this? What do they think? What are they doing differently now? How is the government having to change? How is business changing? Of course, we all want to know where Finnish grit comes from that makes all this possible?? Your market could be, not just Finnish language learners, but citizens and leaders of municipalities from 100,000 to 5,000,000 who would LOVE to know how you Finnish are performing all these miracles. Indeed, I believe most of what you could be sharing on RU-vid or elsewhere remains completely untouched--and many, *many* people around the world are hungering to figure out how to create what you Finns already have. Of course this would introduce a much larger set of responsibilities for you (expanding your view and your reach; networking with Finnish leaders, targeting specific groups in cities around the world, etc.), but it would also expand your potential. Happy Fatherhood! What is the world you want to create for your son? . . . not that you asked! ;-)

Honestly, I am feeling sad. I have been with this channel since 2021 and I learned a lot of things from your channel. I don't have words to express my feelings about your channel. But it's been a wild ride. Of course, I will miss your content and those live streams you are used to doing. I will pray to Allah (God) that he gives you proper financial freedom so you can start following your passion, help your family, and give them the best as you can. Hi Aleksi. I was a gamedev and changed to develop softwares. The game development industry is now more competitive than it ever was, and good indie games are struggling just to be known in the sea of other bad games. Making games is fun, living on it is chaotic.

I've now been divorced 3.5 years, but I still like Finland a lot and I am contemplating moving back there next year. Your channel has been a valuable resource, and all the info you've provided has been helpful. If all goes to plan I'll have to buy you a pint next year, when I move back there. Take care mate.

Aleksi, you have a reach, there are definitely small and independent gaming studios > you might be the marketing channel. Mix it with the taste of Finnishness and it could click...whilst achieving your goal. Congrats to your baby! We recently got a second one and it is a ride... Considering to do a road trip in Finland next year with a caravan...and potentially moving over in 2-3 years (might be some food for your content as well).

From what I see in other countries (Mex and USA) podcast is really something is killing it. Giving a different pointofview by interviewing people from diverse roots living/working/surviving Finland. Maybe start discussion/podcast with you friends and discussion on a specific topic could really attract more audience. At least that has been working for Creativo a podcast run by Roberto M in Mexico.

I completely understand Aleksi. Financially, this channel's focus is not making sense. Its hard to scale up with it. I think RU-vid and Tiktok consulting would be good! A lot of companies worldwide dont understand social media. Adsense and brand deals are not as reliable. RU-vid as a career is no longer viable. You are also a parent now, so u must think about your family's future.

How about seeking promotion from an Airline or Hotel because you are driving interest to Finland to travel? Or Promote a Finnish Language course to monetize? Also a lot of content creators are offering additional perks on Patreon for a cost to support the channels they love. ;) Just a few thoughts; just saying.. My child and I (who wants to move to Finland one day) have been watching your content for years and love it!! Thank you for the time and effort you put into this channel and congrats on your new addition to the family! :) PS. Another channel we love is Irish in Finland, which highlights some of the lesser known culture no one seems to promote much. Its an interesting approach. Maybe that can give you some new ideas?? ;)

You already have an audience who is interested in you. As much as we like your content, we also simply like you. So if you decide that you'd like to make a more personal video channel, consider doing a lifestyle channel, bringing people into your world.. Take the camera around with you, show "us" what it's like raising a baby in Finland, what your house is like, meet members of your family, your friends, bring us to your coffee shop. There are not many lifestyle channels in Finland. But that sort of content is what many people love. In these times when many people feel disconnected from others, they feel like they know and are "friends" with some of the lifestyle RU-vidrs. I think you will gain many Finnish as well as international subscribers this way.

I'll be sorry to see you go, Aleksi. I've not had a chance to watch all your videos but have enjoyed the one I watched. I totally get your reasons for potentially taking steps in another direction, and I think you have some good ideas for how to harness the skills you've honed and tap into a different market. One thing that might be worth considering, if you are getting a reasonable monthly income from this channel, is to contract out the more time-consuming aspects of getting your videos online. Of course, it will eat into your revenue quite a bit, but if you could just do the fun bits of the video making, it might be worth it for you and, who knows in a few years time, if the numbers keep increasing you could have quite a nice little income stream. It also might be beneficial when approaching new clients, if they can see that you are still active on RU-vid, so in that sense it is worth more than any direct money you receive (although that is nice, of course). Anyway, just a few thoughts and good luck on your future steps.

What you say about Finnish companies having no idea about RU-vid is SO true. You could definitely make a career in that. I often feel sorry for many spending a lot of money on a technically perfect video and just as you say, getting 100 views! I have considered that too at times, and occasionally I have been a speaker or consulted about it but not in any way tried to get that kind of work. You would find it easier than me - I have a much higher hurdle to cross to convince people that I know what I'm talking about, in spite of the size of my channel, than you because especially in Finland people still see RU-vid as being for younger people. My brother teaches 16-17-year-olds at a vocational college. He asked his students what age they thought youtubers were! The answer was that mostly in their 20s but some do it even in their 30s 😁 He was able to tell them that his older sister who is past 60, does it as her primary income stream! I trust that you will find the best way forward, all the best!
