Slow compared to what? The overwhelming majority of us mere mortals who aren't on the tour are not throwing the ball 20 mph... plus, you have to take the numbers those sensors spit out with a grain of salt. Unless you're rolling in a brand new center that opened yesterday, most of those systems are decades old at this point, and likely haven't been calibrated in years. What matters is that your speed is consistent from shot to shot... don't fixate on the number as "too fast" or "too slow".

@@notonyourlife7939 I definitely understand that we are not all Barnzy or Tackett, Simo....etc. I just didn't know how many ppl in league/tour who actually hook the ball, roll it at 15-16 or even 17....I didn't know if that's common or not. I was curious. Also, I always thought Darren rolled it faster than me and he has some good success on tour.

We had a storm demo here in vegas last week and the ruby is special but the absolute hooks very late. They also made the recommendations for the fate, eternity, and zen u.

@@Gblood13 yeah i checked both of them out but i went with the Hammer ocean Vibe just way more consistent on the house shot. Prob. gonna get the absolute for tournaments tho.

Any combination of less ball speed, stronger ball, and more surface.

I Googled Roto Grip and Storm's coverstock/core charts. Roto Grip's VTC Pearl cover is about the same as Storm's R2S. However, the Hustle core is tough weaker than the Centripetal Control Core. IQ Tour Ruby: 2.49 RG and 0.029 differential Hustle Wine: 2.53 RG and 0.030 differential So the IQ is a little earlier than the Wine. I have a Wine and it might be a little bit of overlap for me, but I may still get the Ruby.

I normally use pitch black and night road as a 2 hand bowler

pearl balls will push further than solid balls, that’s a start

@@tcousy Don't know if you will see this comment. I'm using an IQ tour pearl I was gifted as my first ball. Started bowling 18 months ago. I received it from a guy who said it's what he rolled in college lol. Great ball. Think I'll be replacing it with a ruby.

No clue. Stopped counting a long time ago…

If one or more pins are off their spot, it's a bad rack.

Made a fit change shortly before. Didn’t have a Phaze II in the stash and that was the closest thing. Context helps a lot.

The tv shows measure off hand speed. Your local bowling center reads the speed as it hits the pins. Balls can slow down as much as around 2.5 mph as it travels down the lane.

Well, let's think about it. If Storm only came out with 4 balls a year, would they make nearly as much money with the bowling community? Of course not, because the regular bowler who averages 160 a game is going to figure out that the ball doesn't do anything to their average quicker because there is nothing "new and shiny" to help their average. Bowling ball companies would lose business so quick, then we would be stuck with the same balls forever. Let the ball makers dupe us like they have been for decades...it is the American way! 😀😂

No, you can't make all balls do the same thing by changing the layout. 12-18 months of R&D go into the design, pairing, and testing of cores and covers before a ball appears on the shelf of your local pro shop... and no layout can magically undo all of that engineering. If it could, there'd be one ball on the market and everything else would be accomplished on the drill press. It's like saying that a putter can do the same job as a 3 wood if you swing it the same way... but it can't. Different tools for different jobs. Is the ball market over-saturated? Yes, to an extent. There's lots of overlap, and 99.97% of us don't need 3 different balls that are so similar that it's difficult to tell them apart... unless you bowl on a wide variety of patterns and conditions, which will make each ball's differences more readily apparent. But that being said, implying that layouts alone can be used to produce any ball motion you want no matter what ball you're throwing, is grossly overstating what what layouts can accomplish. Layouts fine-tune ball motion, steering a ball's performance maybe 10% one way or the other... but you can't make a big solid tank like the Gem behave like a Burner Pearl no matter where you put the holes...
