I have the Tudor BB 58, Grand Seiko SBGA427 and the 39mm blue Hydro. All beautiful watches, and I love the BB, but this Hydro is my favorite. I just love the blue sunburst dial and big numeral indices. It's a wonderful dial. Good movement at 26k bph and 65 hrs power reserve. This is just a great value for the money at less than half the price of the BB.

I have the grey dial and it is my new daily driver. You state that they didn’t take any chances in design but that’s not true. As Andy just noted the Arabic numerals are oversized. Many reviewers have noted this. I absolutely love the quirky out of scale numbers , they scream fun. Thank you for your review.

Imho, the Certina DS Action Diver is the best dive watch for the money for an entry level major brand diver. You can actually get the just previous version for under 1000, even close to 500. And though it has an aluminum bezel-which I like-it also has on the fly micro adjust. It comes with similar Powermatic 80 movement, and better looking than both Tissot Seastar and Longines Hydroconquest, I think-and I own all three.

I had the 43mm in gray on the bracelet bought new 2020, it started to run -7sec a day and when I sent it back to Longines to adjust it they claimed it required a full rebuild at a cost of 280 euros, no watch needs a full overhaul after just 3 years of normal use, put me off Longines.

Risky designes get dated fast. This competes well against Tudor. The HC with ceramic bezel today, like mine, uses a free sprung balace wheel and silicon balance spring. It has a 72 hour power reserve, not 64. Mine sells for $1,700. The clasp functions perfectly. Mine also times within COSC even though it is not COSC ceetified (L888.5). At 41mm it fits perfectly on my 7.75 inch wrist.

I have the new green bezel black dial version. The MSRP now is 2000€ but I got it on Chrono24 for 1650€ new and unworn. For the money there are a ton of microbrands with interesting offerings. Imo the strongest thing about HC is the movement, and heritage, especially when compared to Oris Aquis which can be found for a couple hundred more. The bracelet is the weak point of the watch. I like the hands and arabic numerals, but other aspects are a bit rougher. All in all its unique, but not such an amazing value for money. For less than 200€ one can buy a Seestern with a better bracelet and nice finishing, but with a plain movement (miyota). That's what best bang for buck atm, but perhaps the reviewer hasn't seen those options.
@gregthomson7889
@gregthomson7889 7 месяцев назад
100% it is because its probably the only watch at that price point that has the heritage and can compete with watches that cost 5k.Example if you want a Tag with a better movement and no plastic parts in it's movement you will need to go north of 5k.And if you move up to the Hydro conquest gmt it competes with Rolex and Tudor at least if it wasn't for it's silly indicies.

The Hydroconquest was only available in 41mm at the time and that watch was nice, but the lug to lug was too long for me since I only have 16,5cm wrists. I also didn't like the bracelet and rubber strap as much as on the Aquis. I don't think the Aquis will ever leave my collection and I still absolutely love it to this day. Watch manufacturers really need to sober up. Here is the perfect example of how a date destroys the semitry of a dial, horrible. Perfect candidate not to have a date, it would have looked fantastic. No one buys a watch because they are constantly confused as to what day it is. Very backward business practice.

I’m weird I guess because my Oris Big crown Pro Pilot has the Day/Date and I use it for reference every day.

Would you consider the full steel version? (not with the ceramic bezel) It gets a completly new look and I think this ceramic version looks a bit dull when I've seen the steel one.

It has 72 hours power reserve. Also, the clasp is not cheap in any way. It reminds me of Tudor.
