Lots of people are asking for snakes in games..Thus maybe other devs may see this as a chance to increase satisfaction with their players. Maybe even snake lovers will be drawn to games with the specific species.
BoB's Palaeophis donator here! I couldn't be more proud of the team for achieving what they have for the snake. The Devs as well as the QA team have worked tirelessly to bring this creature to the field, and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. I'm really glad that people enjoyed the creature during the public test, as I had a lot of involvement with many of its design and mechanic concepts, and I was a little worried about how the reception would be, but you know something turned out pretty good when people don't easily get put off by some of the bugs (many of which will be/have been fixed for when it goes public). Congrats to everyone involved in its creation!
If even THE ISLE says it's a hard time getting 'Boa to move realistically, you know it's a serious deal. Snakes move like no other animal on the planet. It's not like you can motion-capture it. Titanoboa is a CONSTRICTOR, meaning it wraps around it's prey to slowly crush it. it's a 56 Million Year Old Giant Anaconda, that hunted Enormous Crocodiles, Turtles, and many other animals. 'Boa in POT will be absurdly challenging, but certainly doable. It's really just going to come down to money and time. Snakes in the Genre of Multiplayer Dino Survival games will be Janky for a while, but will get better as Developers look into it to seek out more options. One last thing to Add, TItanoboa will most likely be a HIGHLY SEMI-AQUATIC Animal. It was so large and heavy, it needs water to support it's Bodyweight. Ambushes from the water like a Crocodile to Sap Oxygen in a grab, or drown it's prey would be the best bet I could see. Titanoboa might not be around for POT for a LONG time, but I do feel people will get it done.
Yup! Its a big deal and is definitely one of the biggest challenges for any dev team that plan to bring a creature like this to their game! I do hope The Isle conquers it one day, but i jut dont see it
Yeah, constriction I expect would only be a viable skill while in the water, granted the rosters don't support a 1 ton snake very well.(Endgamewise) Would mainly be a hunter of Small Tiers/Extra Smalls or Adols of the higher tiers.
They technically don’t crush you they squeeze its prey & each time it exhales they will squeeze tighter until finally you can’t take a breath anymore because it’s wrapped around you so tight.
"If even THE ISLE says it's a hard time getting 'Boa to move realistically, you know it's a serious deal." I don't think the isle dev team is something to hold on a pedestal like that 😭 TI is trash, THAT'S why they couldn't do it. (And if they did figure it out and it's in development, it'll still be like a decade of waiting.)
I absolutely love Beasts of Bermuda. It has the most game mechanics out of any creature survival game. It doesn't surprise me they would be the first to unlock the difficulty of having a nice snake playable where it can do anything a snake would/could do. I hope the devs are proud of their work!
well the isle looks far better, what makes it harder to animate it. Also a snake doenst even fit the game. it would get destroyed by any other playable in the isle. There is a reason why the titanoboa existed after the dinosaurs.
It's been soo long but what happened to Carnivores Corporation? It went radio silent out of nowhere and I never managed to find anything about it again.
@@Beebo_swoozthere’s nothing wrong with being helpful. If people were less sensitive and more open to constructive criticism we’d see less issues in the world and more personal growth.
Ark has had snakes for ages. Both the titanoboa and basilisks have great movement where they adjust to terrain (with the basilisk able to burrow under ground as well) if you have ark and want to give snakes a try just hop on there.
that would require a physics/collision engine; which bob currently doesn't have. palaoephis and velociraptor currently use "complex collision" to be able to cling to surfaces
BOB is a clunky game all round. But it works. The devs don't deny its clunky, and I love that. Although I have the least amount it hours playing it compared with the other Dino survival games, it's still my favourite. Only reason for the less hours is because I prefer to play with friends and my friends either don't or can't play it.
The funny thing about Titanoboa being impossible because its a "constrictor" is its a self imposed limitation, the real animal was a fish hunter and was incapable of constricting.
Big GG to BoB devs for managing it. Animating a snake (or snake-like creature) in a video game is a nightmare, so making it a player controlled character... Big win on this one
On Roblox, an animal survival game called “Amazon ascension” has one of the best snakes out there, the contriction turns into a minigame between both players. both players have to press space when the little tick goes into the green area, kinda like those arcade games where u have to stop the light at a certain point. The bigger the attacker, the smaller the green area for the defender, and it works really well.
the test run of this was so fun!! i was there and i barely even noticed any awkwardness with the movement - which doesnt mean its perfect of course but i had a fucking blast and i cant wait till its dropping officially!
Bobs snake is really impressive. Not only does it adapt to the ground and slither very well. It can coil, and slither up trees and swim. It really doesn’t look bad at all. They did a really good job on it.z
Have people actually spent a minute or so thinking about whether or not Titanoboa (or any other giant constrictor) would be a *fun* playable in a dinosaur game? Because it won't. Deinosuchus already gets flak for being a "log simulator" due to its very restricted habitat and ambush playstyle. A titanoboa would - if they implement it with any amount of realism - lock its prey into a minute long struggle to kill it where neither you or the other player can move a lot/at all. Then you'd have two options: Either make the giant snake take tiny bites out of your food like other dinosaurs - which would be the stupidest thing in any creature survival. Or you have some minute- or hour-long animation or minigame to eat your food whole - as it should be - and you will get bored to tears. Nevermind that these things only eat once every few few hours or days. Constricting snakes specifically are a horrible idea as a playable and I'm glad TI isnt wasting time on it.
I agree and that’s why I think BoB done the right thing by using a venom snake instead, because ultimately it allowed them to move away from constriction and into something that offers better and more active combat and gameplay
Path of titans aint even that realistic they could easily make a titanoboa that moves like the baselisk from ark and just give it a normal bite instead of the realistic contricting dinos etc🤷🏻♂️
This, I don't get why people want animals that are very similar to present ones in a DINOSAUR game... paleophis is fun, I admit it, but it doesn't feel like it fits. Neither crocodilians
Currently an animal survival game is working on cracking the anaconda. What they're doing to combat the constriction is the ability to struggle against it and break free. It is, in fact, a minigame in a way. I see constriction as more like the clamp mechanic on the Sarco and the pounce mechanic for raptors all in one package. They can still do bite attacks as well, if a titanaboa were added to POT, there'd be it's own 'clamp' mechanic [constriction], a bite that should do bleed given how their teeth are shaped, and maybe a gripping bite that can slow movement down and needs to be shaken off, since their teeth are made to keep things in place. Given they'd be semi-aquatic it could have similar breath-related mechanics like the sarco. I think with enough creativity a snake could be a fun playable, maybe not the best but certenly not the worst.
A constrictuon snake could work if they made it a special attack wich triggers a animation for constriction wich guaranties a kill if : 1. The creature your trying to constrict is smaller than you 3. You have enough stamina
Something worth noting here is that Palaeophis was not certainly venomous. The entire family of Palaeophiidae is extinct and highly fragmentary, so it's hard to know what method of killing was used. We do know they were closely related to file snakes and wart snakes (living marine species) that are non venomous, so that could carry over for Palaeophis as well. That being said, prehistoric snake phylogeny is messy, so venom isn't entirely impossible either. I think the venom mechanic in game was likely used since it is a preexisting feature with code already made. I personally want to get a proper constricton mechanic down the line for any of these games. It's a unique mechanic to giant snakes, and I know the sit and wait nature of the build would be more like a Deinosuchus in action. Venom is still cool, but having big snakes getting into land fights and landing tons of bites feels out of place and glitchy.
There was that one snake game which pulled off being a snake pretty well. Showing it could be done but making work in a Survival game is gonna be very tough. The Snake game is called Snake Pass. Also The Isle isn't Restricted to Constrictor as the dinos are genetically modified so it could use venom and Constrict. Also making Constriction viable method by just making it similar to Grappling in the isle's case cause it would be mostly automatic and you'd just have to press Right click and it will just get tighter and tighter and i honestly think the real Problem would be eating.
wdym, bob paleophis released first and was announced 2 fucking years ago the dbs titanoboa got revealed toi be in development a few months ago what is your ass smoking
You keep saying "restricted" when I think you mean "constricting" because the TitanoBoa is a constrictor and thus uses its muscles to constrict around the prey item.
@@VelocciYT No worries, I'm sure everybody knew what you were meaning to say. Anyway, I just want to say that I really enjoy your posts, and I'm always excited when I see that you are showcasing new dinos!
@@Nicklevick Magyarosaurus. It’s a dwarf sauropod. The only confirmed “defense” it has for The Isle is that it’s horrible for a carnivore to eat. Trouble is… they underestimate their playerbase. As if bad meat alone is enough to deter people from killing it…
Honestly i dont need the titanoboa to contsrict dinos like it should, there are a couple dinos i can see in pot that just have a standard bite instead of what they actually should do. if they can nail a titanoboa as like in beast of bermuda but just give it a standart bite i bet most poeple would be happy and they can always update it idk why everyone keeps saying its inposible, i will say it must be freaking hard as there is only one game where u can be a playable snake, wel actualy ark’s basilisk is also kindoff a snake even if we get that kind of quality poeple would be happy
Hey Velocci love the video but do you think that it’s possible that Beasts of Bermuda will get a mobile version of the game (just like Path of Titans) one day?
I think maybe instead of trying to make a realistic titanaboa, the isle could take creative liberties like they have done with other Dino’s such as beipi. The titanaboa could maybe be given teeth and a jaw more suited to tearing apart flesh like an eel or something. Constriction would be really hard to implement so venom could still be on the table. I think making a realistic snake that swallows all of its prey whole might also end up looking janky. I feel it would also be a glass cannon, if it got the jump on most animals it could be fatal but the health pool is not very large. The titanaboa could have a similar play style to the deino but it has better stealth mechanics making it harder to detect. They could maybe make it so you can’t see it in night vision but im not sure. I think the risk of missing an attack on larger prey could be fatal making the skill cap high. If a player is able to achieve a large enough size the snake could be considered an apex. A massive Deino and titanaboa apex battle in the water would also be so epic. What do y’all think about my idea?!?!
FYI Ark Survival Evolved has had the Play As Dino mod since 2015, where you can play as a Titanoboa or a Basilisk. So not sure what you're going on about BOB being "the first"...since they're not. AND Ark Survival Ascended, which came out in Oct 2023, has a command where you can play as any dino, built into the game, no mod. EDIT: Just found out the same command in ASA that allows you to play as any dino, NO MOD, has also always worked in ASE as well. So, again, BOB was not the first game where you can play as a snake. AND for that matter, Ark has even beat The Isle as being the first game where you could play as ANY dino since it released in June 2015 and The Isle released in Dec 2015.
With ark it’s a good case of course, but I think ark is more so in a different category. As while you have mods that let you play as the Dino, its core gameplay is survival as a human, which compared to TI, BoB and PoT is a different gameplay loop. I was more so going for the idea of the purely dinosaur only survival games. But your points are very valid ^^
While it's cool i'd rather the likes of the isle didn't add it. It works in BOB because everything is jank. POT and TI especially the latter are supposed to be alot more realistic. Edit: Massive congrats on what they did manage to do however. Even though i would never want that in the dino games i play it is impressive that they tried and even got that far. Someone will be able to do it realistically one day i hope.
Snake is janky tbh, so wouldnt say there is a good snake yet. Plenty of room to improve it, but definitely ahead of the game. Personally for Isle I only see Titanaboa working if they capitalize on the fact its an aquatic constrictor, not so much a land creature.
Personally I’m a big fan of it, I think they’ve implemented it really well. I think we likely won’t see a playable titanoboa in the isle, and if we do it won’t be for a long time, potential end game release
@@VelocciYT Oh, it plays fine. It's just graphical issues etc. It's definitely fun, just not the most beautiful of things. Titanaboa last I heard was more or less confirmed as AI since they deem it more or less unviable and too hard to animate well for player use. Which tbh I agree with as it'd only be able to eat certain sized creature let alone hunt those creatures since it has constrict them while within the water to properly constrict its prey due to sheer size. Would be abysmally slow on land, and not even all that fast in the water. Many planned creatures also drastically outmatch it in sheer weight category that live in its domain. 1 ton snake really would only contend with small tiers/extra smalls. And it would be an awful contender when dealing with multiple opponents.
nahhh. tbh bermuda's snake is horrible. it is not moving realistically and has so many bugs. just. lets forget about snakes in dinosaur/animal games please. there's no way of making snake look realistic, not make whole server freeze and have good movement controls at the same time... if someone still has hope for snakes, just get this comment as my opinion.
honestly I dont like beasts of bermuda at all, even though I have 1,613.1 hours in it, I stopped playing, it is a mind numbing game to me. I mean sure they now have snakes, but that doesn't overcome all its issues and problems. thats just my own take on the game.
I dislike Bob highly and wont ever go near it. Seen way to much bad stuff regarding this game by others and myself, and wont ever spent time on it. Good for them to have a snake, il rather wait for ANY other game to release one ^^
@@VelocciYT i respect you showcasing it tho, i must say it looks cool but i stay to my opinion. I appreciate it tho that you keep my "negative" opinion chill, good RU-vidr :)
@@hank7220 the community is toxic, the devs apparently banned people just for voicing their opinions and suggestions, the dev multiple times insulted community members in dev streams, they offer payed glowing skins for the game which in my eyes is outrageous to sell stuff like that in a "dinosaur survival game"... sorry but in my eyes this game has nothing to offer what other games not allready do better. But as i said its my opinion, if u wanna give it a shot and make your own opinion, do so ^^
@@truekingzeldris2520 just my 2 cents but devs def don’t ban people for reasons like that alone, though they have had like one incident where they used cursing at a community member that was quickly resolved and the dev apologized for lashing out in the discord. if folks got banned by official staff there is def a reason for it. the person claiming that it was just “for opinions” is likely not telling the full story ;) and game bans themselves are superrr rare. Take it or leave it but wanted to clear that up Rest of the stuff for sure valid and understandable ^-^
Then you dont know them at all, you are confusing them with the isle. When they do a puplic test, the creature follows officially not too long after. And guess what? It was released a few days ago
Yea the dynamic ocean, the genetic systems, the talent trees, the varied play styles, weather systems, the fully fleshed out gameplay loop involving resurrections and revives. The giant snakes chilling in a tree, or maybe in an ory burrow. Low quality.😄
@@PelicanMobBoss I'm not hatting on Bob nor slandering it's animations and stuff are more like roblox so the snakes weird animations and stuff fit in very well but if you put a snake in pot or the isle it's definitely gonna have the same or similar movement but unlike Bob it's not gonna fit in at all and just look odd
Sorry but its not gonna revolutionize nothing. The first dinosaur survival game that gonna make good AI dinosaurs will be the absolute winner. We don't need team deatmatch, capture the flag and any of this. We need the AI.
@@Defooriginal because these are stuff people have wanted in dinosaur games for ages, The Isle has tried this with Titanoboa, Beasts of Bermuda has been developing this for 2 years. For the dinosaur game genre this is a big thing, something not many have done before. It’s like saying flight is big for dinosaur games, but non of the creatures that utilise it are not dinosaurs either.
