I think it gives you a green tick after you get an orange if it's on your new fastest route. In other words, if you've already cocked it up, then both Michigan and Indiana would have been green ticks cause both give it to you in 5 guesses rather than 4. Could also happen in a situation where you went a completely different way and you get green ticks by continuing to go that wrong way rather than getting back to the fastest route because that would put you too far behind

You should try Satle too. It's guessing the city from a sattelite view and with every wrong guess it zooms out and gives you direction and distance to the correct answer.

Indiana's green because you'd already submitted Illinois, which means the shortest possible route (including Illinois) now includes Indiana. And top 78% means your score was amongst the highest 78% of players - i.e. 78% of players scored either the same or higher than you. If you were in top 1% it would mean only 1% had the same or better score than you, if you were in the top 100% it would mean everyone scored the same or better than you.

Indiana was marked as the shortest route, because it was the shortest route after you had already incorrectly guessed Illinois. If you had guessed Indiana first and then Illinois it would have been the opposite

there's also a practice mode if you want to do more than one a day. You can also choose the hard mode which doesn't show the name of the starting and ending states but only the shape

I think Denmark -> Sweden counts because there's a bridge connecting the 2 countries.

There is also an unlimited version of this game!!! You’ll find it if you look up unlimited travle. It also allows you to change the minimum and maximum amount of countries that are between the 2 countries so you can make it really hard for yourself and put like 14 and then you have to do from Indonesia to Albania for example! It’s such fun game !!!

The Turkey-Greece border is definitely one to remember, because those two countries have a long and also fairly recent history, and despite both being in NATO they have a whole lot of tanks and artillery near that particular border

Hi Tom, I'm sure you've already had other comments about this, but they added a new practice game mode to travle - I've just been playing for a bit and it's pretty good. You can pick two countries to go from or just randomise it, you can also change it to Hard Mode, which only gives you the outlines and not the country names. I think it would make for an interesting video especially as you can do multiple in a day rather than having to switch to the other regional game modes.

Would love to see more of this!

at 13:00 ish - I think Indiana comes up as green check because at that point you're already off track, but on your NEW track it is the best choice.

12:50 I am pretty sure that the shortest route (so Indiana) is also considering all the countries you have previously guessed. And with Illinois unlocked it did not matter if you chose Wisconsin or Indiana

If you want the MOST accurate description, red means you’ve added +1 to the number of your guesses compared to the most optimal route. For example, if there are now 5 ways to get to the destination optimally (without adding yet another +1 to the route), that guess will appear green because you have not added YET ANOTHER unnecessary step. Other people’s descriptions are semi-correct but only in certain situations. I think understanding what makes a guess *red* is more comprehensive and accurate than explaining all the cases that make it green. (If it doesn’t fit my single definition of red, it’s green 🙂)

Yeah Norway boarders Russia, my favorite border is where Norway, Finland and Russia all meet. It's in such a remote location, it's probably really hard to just travel there. And I have no clue what else to do other than see the boarder. Norway aren't really a target for Russia, since the border is too far up north. But the Russian Finland border is pretty well guarded by the military. So you can just walk from Norway to Finland and even if there is a guard they wouldn't really care. But if you walk over to the Russian side you will get shot.

You can't jump across water but there is a bridge/tunnel system connecting Denmark with Sweden. Then, either Finland or Norway can connect you to Russia, and either Georgia or Azerbaijan to Armenia. These were initially tricky but you can learn them quickly.

As you said sea borders are valid, i think you could get a "shorter" route from Lebanon to Liechtenstein: If you go from Turkey to Greece, from Greece to italy and from Italy either to austria or Switzerland you shorten it by 2 countries.

Tried it a bit with France. I got a Pas-de-Calais to Finistère map. The fun thing is there are a few possible routes between the two departments.

I'm pretty good when it comes to the English counties, but suck at the other three bits, so I'd love to see an England-only map. My route was Newport, Monmouthshire (that one required the use of hints), Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire. Straight line...

I think Indiana is green is because the green checks are based on what youve already typed. And because you had already typed Illinois, Indiana is the shortest route. In your first game instead of going to Sweden (the shortest route), you went to Germany (which was orange), but from then on Poland and the bunch were green ticks. Because for the germany route that is the shortest route. Hopefully I make sense.

13:00 i think it checks the shortest route from each guessed state, so from illinois the best route was indiana -> you get a checkmark for it

12:30 driving wise you are correct, Google maps would recommend you go through Indiana and Illinois because the roads in the upper peninsula are absolute garbage

If you change the date on your computer you can play the game from past or future dates. Might be useful for filming stuff like this all in one go
