Vervet monkeys are native to Southern and Eastern Africa and were introduced to the Caribbean country in the 17th century. #vervetmonkey #17thcentury #endangeredspecies
But they go away easily...eliminating is not the solution, this would look like a concentration camp where people disappeared. More empathy, more sensitivity, we all deserve this world that God gave us, we are here for a reason. We cannot go against God's designs and if so, with what morality?
God will not use a rifle to eliminate you...he will eliminate you suffering day after day for wishing the death of those little animals and you know? KARMA not only reaches you, it reaches your descendants too.
Their natural predators in Africa have all but been wiped out and the numbers of the nasty thieving things is out of control there. It is legal to hunt them in most parts of South Africa.
What predators? They’re on an island in the Atlantic! Their native Africa is far away. These rats are an invasive, overbred pest in dire need of culling.
@@user-poopedgo and help then. All I ever see of monkey haters is them mouthing off in comments about all they'd do if they just had a chance. Talks cheap.
In other parts of the world, Vervet monkeys are also considered nuisance animals. Vervets were brought to the island many years ago and have been allowed to multiply. Presently, they are doing what monkeys do when they cohabit with people. They become a problem. Sterilization is a long term solution and does not provide farmers and locals immediate relief from Vervets that have become accustomed to easy meals in the fields or garbage bins. It’s cruel, but necessary. People come first.
And therein lies the problem in this world. People. People first my butt. There are deterents to keep them out of crops, but oh no, nobody wants to take a minute to do it. I've seen them work. But let's just kill them. Or sterilize them so nothing changes. It's not those monkeys fault they are in a place they shouldn't be. It was those so much more important PEOPLE who introduced them there. 🙄 Relocate the monkeys. Greedy arrogant humans. Yeah so much more worthy 🙄 not.
I totally agree. Euthanization is the only immediate answer. Humans and their livelihood takes priority over these rats. Glad this is being done, also needs to be done with the Macaques in other numerous Asian countries.
How much pride there is in people, if those little animals are among us it is because GOD WANTED IT SO and he had his reasons. We believe we are the only ones who deserve...deserve what?...thinking or saying that those little animals should not exist is like saying that God does not exist. Come on people, humans are not perfect...imagine if animals could talk, what would they say? For some reason God did not give them speech because they would be so stupid in their requests.
Sint Maarten is a small island. where should they release the monkeys?? it's not thousands either, just around 450. and it shouldn't be more. they were brought in there and don't belong there
How easily humans always have the solution for what GOD created. We believe that we deserve everything, even getting rid of animals to live in peace. Peace is not death, peace is finding solutions where third parties are not affected... how difficult it is for us to think when it comes to money... The government has the money to give these little animals a decent life by migrating them but not The easiest thing is to kill....instead of going forward, we are going back to the old days
The monkeys have been there as long as people have it’s the people that have caused the problems constantly taking baby’s then take them back leave them to fend for themselves just to get bullied constantly feeding them dressing them up to be like children then have enough of them just leave them alone stop trying to change them for your amusement they are monkeys let them stay that way it’s the humans that constantly stress them out following them everywhere scaring them but never them just watch and film they don’t ok before you moved in on them and made them dependent on you now people are fed up of them and want to kill them because of the interference of humans
definitely not there as long as humans. they didn't exist on this island at all. they were introduced there a few years ago and are destroying the whole island. and these are not the monkeys that are abandoned after they have served their time. this is about something completely different
I agree. It’s Heartbreaking to see people abuse these animals.I am constantly blocking People with Monkeys in diapers. I live in the Midwest we had the same situation with an over population of deer. The State had Hunting permits. As Horrible as it was it was better then seeing them dead on the Highways. If Killing these animals humanely is the only option then do it. I just hope they find a way to keep them out and not letting them over populate again.
You're talking about macaques & they're just as much a problem in Asia to farmers & general population. These r vervets, this breed of monkeys were brought to the Caribbean island, people were there long before the vervets were brought in. I believe it's best to always know as much on both sides of any topic that someone's interested in. Some videos that show another side of macaques are Shimla's monkey menace, google macaques attacking people in village of yamagucci (Japan), another video "I have to live in a cage'. Many many of the people of Cambodia have never taken a monkey as a pet, these same people rely on their crops to keep their families alive, macaques cost, annually, 1 million U. S. In ground crops destruction and close to that in crops grown above ground. These monkeys can & used to live on a variety of leaves, flowers, non crop plants, insects, grubs, etc. They get a taste of human food & it's all they want. There are people in parts of India & I'm sure all over Asia who don't have glass let alone screens in their windows. A young woman & her baby were in bed when monkeys came in her home. She & many others have to hang their food as high up the walls on string as possible & keep any furniture they may have away from the walls to lessen the chance of the monkeys getting their food. These monkeys got her food & once they've bitten out of food it's really not safe to eat it as diseases they carry is absolutely in their saliva. The lady lay absolutely still hoping the monkeys would leave after destroying her food. They didn't. She was clawed and bitten head to foot. Thankfully her baby wasn't injured. These monkeys aren't poor defenseless creatures, they cause a lot of problems. I've read time & again of people who had to actually live in countries macaques are in who before living there either liked or had no opinion on them, till they had to live with them at which point their view changed to at the least they're pests & not nice animals to they're horrible, they can't stand them. If monkeys came between my families quality of life I know what id choose, my family, every time.
Congrats to them for not actually getting rid of them! Neutering costs too much time and money, and the rats will breed faster than they can sterilize them! These rats are nothing more than an invasive pest.
They could just make sure the monkeys have their own space and a habitat that has plenty of food forthem year round ....and make clear boudaries if their habitat is thriving with plenty of the foods they eat they would likely leave the crops alone .and ypu cant sterilize a entire species because believe it or not it is our God given responsibliity to make sure that wild life is cared for and the habitat making sure to restore it regularly especially after floods or fires or any other reason for loss of habitat which commonly is due to humsn carelessness building developing etc.. It tells us this is pur responsibility in the Bible and the animals know that the humans have dominion and they come to us for help ...thats why so many are coming into populated areas to let us know they need our help ...but many humans are fearful of them and shoot them...ve good stewards of the land and nature constantly replanting restoring ...that is also what the environment needs right now besides stopping plastics and other things that are destructive basically all the artificial crap man makes that doesn't recyle back into the earth and keep the earth healthy and sustainsbl...e
