I watched this awhile back and thought, that really is an awesome setup. The I needed to watch it again and I was hoping I'd find it again, and here it is. I am going to set all my rigs this way for now on. Brillant !!
Hey 903 Fisherman. When you get you another counter. Keep it in a quart size zip-lock bag. So when zip it closed. No moisture can get to it and it will stay like new. That’s the way I keep my counter
This video uplifted my spirits, because you only see "Live Scope" users catching all these big fish nowadays. You using what I have, which is a Hummingbird Helix series finder, with mega imaging and side imaging; and catching those monsters, boosted my morale in the whole game! I'm in Wisconsin, and the fish are a lot harder to find, but this video was definitely a motivational boost to my hunting for those "Slabs" brother! Thank you!
This is my favorite video because this is my favorite way to crappie fish too. This is the set up I use 99% of the time. This is the set up I used with Karl Kalonka on the Krappie Kings video we filmed in 2012. You should contact Karl and do a show with him.
I enjoy the way you have your set-up. I said I’m going to set-up my rigs like that. I love crappie, bluegill, and shell cracker fishing. I also love fishing for my catfish.
Have you considered doing an intro showing how you’re using your electronics to find brush? I’ve pretty much got the same set up, Helix 7 SI/DI in the back and a Helix 5 DI on the trolling motor. Can’t seem to find anything with the back unit, seems like a lot of interference. Not sure if it’s my settings or possibly too much prop wash. Anyway, love the videos. Watch them every week.
So you have the side and down on the console? How you figured out your side imaging yet? I am just now getting to where I understand what’s what. It takes time. But I will sure get that in a video soon. Thanks for watching! God bless
@@903fishing I have a tiller handle outboard on a flat bottom boat. I rigged up the Helix 7 transducer in the back and put the unit where I could view it while in the back seat riding around. The Helix 5 is mounted up front on the deck since it’s running on my trolling motor. The SI definitely has a learning curve, which could be part of what I’m experiencing.
@@vincentgay2144 yes sir. You figure out that side scan and it’s a GAME CHANGER. My unit can go 100 feet to the right and left. And I still struggle sometimes determining what’s what. But I have gotten better Over tine. TIP: go out one day with NO POLES and be forced to use your fish finder and try to mark and find structure. Mark it. Run over it. See it it’s confirmed and move on. When you go out again to fish you will have multiple spots to try out.
This is probably my favorite video of yours it has convinced me to try and fish slip cork like you. I didn't know you could catch em like that in the summer! And i have been working on that style of fishing this year!
Thank you for the videos, I switched to the string bobber stops, those rubber ones get hung up all the time. You get me pumped up to catch crappie then I go fishing and can’t find them but I nabbed my first landlocked salmon and a 24” chain pickerel while crappie fishing so not all bad.
Thanks for watching and the support! Shout out to H-Tineeeee! Z-Ro my favorite artist of all time! Just saw him in concert last month in Tyler! Thanks for watching! God bless!
When Crappie go to the river a great place to go is Hamms creek boat ramp in Johnson Co , Rio Vista tx. I have friend that guides Texoma and he comes every year. Catch a lot . If you would like to know more from him its Downwind Crappie guide. Not promoting another fish guy Just im saying great experience at this spot to fish.
Nice crappie limit. I was on Cooper lake this weekend camping. We caught alot of white bass and hybrids. I like Crappie fishing better though. Just hard to find Crappie on Cooper lake. We will be back on Lake Bob Sandlin 4th of July weekend. I usually can find the crappie there. Thanks for the video.
That's what I call good fishing 903. By the way, what type of line and weight your pitching family. Salute keep up with the good videos and content 903 family stay up🫡
I’ve never been able to go out fishing and catch keepers, let alone a limit. I can’t swing buying equipment like I see guys using wether it’s rod and reels or fish finder’s. I’m extremely grateful to the Lord that I have air in my lungs and my health is good enough to get out and go fishing. I have a tiny 12 ft v bottom. I’m not even using a deep cycle battery. I’m just glad to be able to get off the bank and I don’t go far so a regular car battery is working. I mainly use a 10 ft jigging fiberglass rod. I think it was 13 dollars. I like to swim jigs real slow around structure. Blue ice has caught me more fish than any other colors. I’m clueless on when to use what colors. I’ve been in bed with Covid and went through quite a bit where I couldn’t breathe well. I’m glad I’m feeling better and anxious to get back out. I do use slip bobber with jigs as well but I can never get my stop knot to stay in place. It’s a constant frustration every cast. I think the eyelet on my other pole is too tiny for the knot to pass easily and it keeps moving my knot when I cast. I’d love one of those acc set ups. A pole that 8 ft would be ideal for setting hook. I’ve joined your fb family page etc. I’ll be watching and learning. I’ll check all your videos and you probably have videos to help me with questions I might have. We are blessed and when you’ve been done the health roads I’ve been down, you’re very grateful to be able to go fishing.
Yes sir! Any questions you may have fire away! Shoot me a message on Facebook or even an email. Calebhensley222@gmail.com thanks for watching and the support! God bless
Also, depending on your water clarity is what color jigs you need to use. Dark/muddy water, darker more aggressive colors. If the water clarity is somewhat clear, then non intrusive/more natural colors work well.
I appreciate those kind words brother! I am definitely not the best, but I am working on being the best I can be! Let’s gooo! Thanks for the support brother!
I know it's not good to be jealous or envious or covetous but dang I'm feeling it right now. I would die to bag a limit of crappie. I don't know any good places to fish crappie here near San Antonio. But I'm jonesing for a good crappie fish fry.
I wish I could help you with fishing spots down by San Antonio. I have never fished there before. Maybe someone will see this and can help you out. Thanks for the support and watching! God bless
Main line is 10# power pro braid, and a 12# mono leader. Leaders usually are around 10-12 inches or so. I say all this in the video brother. Thanks for watching! God bless
hello love the videos you put out. Me and my wife love to crappie fish, we prefer cork and minnow fishing, not to say we do not like jig fishing. we have a hard time in the summertime locating crappie. I have a LS but still have a hard time finding them. i live in Arkansas so the temp gets up there pretty quick, i have a small window to find them and caught them because of the heat. could you give me pointers on where in the lake to start looking. most people say deep, but i have caught them in 8 to 10 feet of water. thx in advance for any help you can give
I would definitely find the river channel or creek channel that runs through that lake. With temps how they are now, I would look 17’-25’. Fish will more then likely be suspended 15’-18’ down. Thanks for watching! God bless
Well my boat is old and doesn’t have the up to date aerator. It’s just filters water from the lake in and out of the livewell. It doesn’t put oxygen in the water that’s already in there. Surface temps are 90 degrees in Texas right now. Crappie are coming from depths that are a lot cooler. So the 90 degree water will kill them fast in the livewell. So I just go ahead and put them on ice. Hopefully that helps you understand. Thanks for watching! God bless
I will have a video coming out in the next couple weeks. It will be crappie brush pile Fishing 101. I will show you exactly how I approach them and fish them. I appreciate you for watching! Make sure you have that notification bell hit so you don’t miss the video! Thanks for watching! God bless
What’s the of those corks that you are using. I’ve used a lot of different corks and some of them, when I cast them out so far. I can’t hardly see them. I’ll have to buy me some of those
I have a video on my channel! Go to “how to”playlist. And find the “how to rig a slip cork for crappie fishing”! All the materials you need you can find at Walmart. But you have to know how to rig it up! Thanks for watching! God bless! Let me know how it works!
All depends where you are located geographically? In Texas, I can start catching crappie from the bank in the creeks in November or so. Thanks for watching! God bless
After a few catches and reeling in. I stopped getting bites and realized my depth was way off! And saw my string bobber stop moved. I don’t run braided on my primary line. I have mono… do you also have that issue after awhile with your braided line? Or should I just switch to a braided line to avoid that issue?
We even catch crappie with just sonar, down scan, and markers. I cant see wasting all that money on expensive boats and tech. We are more like Richard Gene .we believe fishing should be fun not expensive!!
I am fishing heavy brush piles for these crappie, if I was to get hung up with 4-8 pound mono, I am losing my rig every single time. With. My slip cork set up, 10# power pro braid, and a mono leader to the barrel swivel, 90% of the time, the leader breaks off and that’s it. I only have to tie on my leader and hook. Vs having to re rig my whole setup! Hopefully that makes sense! Thanks for watching! God bless
@@leo8505 does it look like the fish care? Lol think about, The hook is on the clear mono leader, fish can’t see that anyway. The braid is on the reel.
