I agree, it’s the only one I y use for rubbing. A lot of designers use the sc, but I don’t like how bulky and wide the ribbing looks. It does take longer, which is probably why they use it, but it def affects the look!

I made a different hat with this slip stitch method and found I was crocheting way too tightly. The hat came out a little wonky, so clearly I need more practice. I do like the way it looks like knitting, but the fabric it creates is thicker. I should try this again with your pattern.

Yeah, slip stitches can be really fiddly sometimes. If you want to revisit that project, you could try going up a hook size to help with the tension!

Oooh, looking forward to the hat tutorial! The examples you showed look great. So, I crocheted your Snood Scarf using the hdc in bbo, and it turned out so perfect! Shocked myself that I actually crocheted something that looks so good that I may actually wear it! I love how that stitch turned out for that pattern. Would that same stitch work well for blankets, regular scarves, and hats? Your patterns and tutorials are great. Thank you!😁

I'm so glad you love it! Slip stitches definitely use less yarn than single crochets, so it's a good option if you know you'll be playing a game of yarn chicken. I've never tested how much less though.....hmmm.....sounds like that could be an interesting video!

I'm trying to decide what size to get... do you think a cotton/poly will shrink? I don't like them too big but I don't like them really tight either :)

I didn’t really notice much shrinking with mine. I’d say they’re pretty true to size so if you order your usual size, you’ll have a little bit of room, but still in a fitted way if that makes sense. If you like your shirts to be a little loose, though I’d size up just to be safe. We have the measurements on the pre-order listing if you want to check those out too!

I love the way slip stitch ribbing looks but unfortunately I can't get the hang of it. Any suggestions? I'm not new at crochet but I find it to be rather awkward. ☹️

Slip stitches can be fiddly, that's for sure! The "ah-ha" moment for me was when I started crocheting more loosely than I normally do. I'm a notoriously tight stitcher, and that made working into the stitches on the following row a total struggle. Here's what I did.... after that first yarn over and pull through, exaggerate that hook motion so you're really pulling up on the two loops, before pulling through. That'll make the stitch easier to work into!

@@bhookedcrochet OHHHH NICE a video too! I found the pattern on your website and used it for my free pattern when I bought the tee shirt! I'm looking forward to your new hat pattern and yes I swooned over the crown just like you did. So very pretty! And BTW, your printed pattern layout is gorgeous. I was a graphic designer and can tell you how disappointed I've been in the past when a designer doesn't know how to use the software needed to produce a nicely printed copy, especially when I've paid for it.
