The Irish headstones contain so much information! Wonderful! Here in the US, we consider over 100 years to be old, while you guys easily have 1,000 year old structures❤Amazing!
I can imagine people, in their Sunday finest, coming to worship, and pay respects to their families. I know one day we'll be forgotten, but it's still sad to see these beautiful places, and souls, left untended. Thank you for showing us. God bless you both.

Would be great to put a team of volunteers together and give this Church and Graveyard a complete clean up and repair the headstones. one weekend with twenty volunteers would do the job. I would be first to sign up for this.
Great video GV. ❤❤ special place there. Loved that you went into the Vault. I have had the pleasure once to look inside a vault when a tunnel collapsed on a graveyard. I whas there to inspect it and it was in fact an undercroft of a midieval church. Was special to be there as one of the first people after so many centuries❤❤❤
You're getting pretty adventurous, I'm glad Sue is with you to help if something goes south. Exploring unknown places is exciting for sure, but it brings to mind some hikers who decided to leave the trail to get back before dark. They found themselves on a ledge with no way to get off of it. They were rescued 3 days later by a couple of hikers who heard their calls. Not saying going into a crypt is as dangerous, but one never can be 100% of the unknown. I thoroughly enjoy all your videos and crazy escapades!
I think having these graveyards in such appalling conditions is despicable! People buy a little plot to be able to rest in peace - BUY A PLOT!!! To be abandoned & left in such a delapidated state is absolutely despicable. Invest in a cremation guys, you will not find eternal peace in a graveyard😡
When my dad died he wanted to be buried. We were told the plot was ours but only for 101 years. They could build on the cemetery after that but are not allowed to remove the remains only the head stone.
It may sound grim, but I find these types of churches/cemeteries very fascinating! Abandoned and "never" looked back. Then the thought arises: why? How did it come to this? Are there really no surviving relatives at all? Great that you're documenting this! Only one question from me: how do you find these kinds of places? Some are indicated, but most are not.
It's sad to see the graves forgotten and nobody around to care for these places but I always hope someone watches my videos and can do something to help clean it up
@@GraveVisitations It's that I live in the Netherlands and we don't have such overgrown cemeteries. Otherwise I would have been happy to help you make this place something mainstream, for example! Even if no one comes, always respect the dead who have their eternal rest there!

Wow!, the graveyard is in much need of lot's of good worker's to get in there and remove all of the brush and trash. Its sad but , the gravestones were beautiful, may the dearly departed rest in peace. I loved Sue's shoes😊, thanks for sharing this video, looking forward to the next one. 😊

Wow GV that was amazing (and spooky) I was terribly concerned you'd get stuck (or worse still, hurt) in that vault. That call to be rescued by the emergency services, would have been one for the books! Glad you survived intact, and with no warts lol. Joking aside, it's so sad that the vault etc are left in such a dangerous and overgrown state (can hardly be passed off as a nature area in a working cemetery) heartbreaking to realise how quickly we will probably all be forgotten about as the generations move on.

Wow, just amazing! I wish we could see inside the church, but glad you went in the vault. We don't find places of antiquity here as you do there. How very sad that this whole site is so unkempt, neglected & seemingly abandoned. Surely someone could volunteer to clean it all up, or organise a working bee to tidy it up & make it a special place again.

This is an odd but incredible place. Sad to see it so overgrown and abandoned like that though. Kudos to you Cathal. For a grown man to get in that small opening and then go all the way back to the end of it. I wouldn't do it. I'd be afraid the ceiling might come down on yas. Those poor people have been forgotten! Great video guys. I often wonder if there are any relatives of the deceased still alive who are unaware they have ancestors lying in these abandoned graveyards. Maybe one day someone will tell you!
Ahh, I think it's lovely that mother nature is gently but steadily reclaiming our forgotten and abandoned deceased to her tender loving care. ❤ Mind you take good care of you's too - you're a long way from a cave rescue team! ❤
Drugs might be involved. People are choosing these places to party because they are not patrolled. Drugs do strange things to people, though I am by no means defending this activity. Ancient places like this are sacred

Just looking at that place i wanted to get out my yard cleaning tools, its a shame they let it get so overgrown, just because they're not using the church doesn't mean the can't keep it up the grounds. Another great video .

I have made a petition to have this place flattened and a small bingo hall and maybes a playground and a car park put in its place so I have as it will be more for the best for the childern and for our future community here in Ireland as time goes on

In the US some of the similar graves to your chest tombs are referred to as "false crypts." Damaged false crypts usually show only the ground beneath, the person is still buried in the ground. New Orleans and some of the areas with high water tables of course usually are not false crypts.

I'm sure those folks never thought their final resting place would end up looking like that. It's a shame that people used that vault as a rubbish bin. I'm now curious about the remains.. who were they? Why was their vault under the church.. makes ya wonder🤔

Such beautiful architecture. I got creeper out by the vault tunnel. Looks like it was purposely piled with debris to reclose it back off. Perhaps the drinkers were raiding the church inside. No telling, but the human bones spread about, just beyond creepy. Thanks for your dedication to showing the beautiful places you share.

That is utterly shocking to see hubcaps, beer cans, etc in the sacred burial space of the ancient departed. Just terrible. The whole cemetery is just wholly in neglect and disrepair. I wish it could be cleaned up, mowed ,etc. Thank you for your bravery.
