I wish Daihatsu would make a comeback in the US. Especially since kei cars and vans seem to be rising in popularity in the states right now. They make so many cool little vehicles like the Atrai and the Mira Tocot. They would make perfect city cars or mini camper vans.

I had a 1993 Daihatsu Charade, and I drove it for years. I towed a tiny camper with it coast to coast along the I-10 corridor, Jacksonville FL to Malibu CA. I pulled a small boat back and forth from FL to OH numerous times. It actually had more horsepower than my current 2013 Chevy Spark. I loved that little car.

I wish we got the Copen. I've got a 1997 Daihatsu Mira TR-XX Avanzato R4 that I imported this year, Daihatsu makes some quirky vehicles! If you're ever in the Rochester NY area you'll have to check it out.

I hazard a guess that placing side mirrors further forward eliminates the blindspot that we get with conventional mirrors, which in turn are designed for seeing incoming high speed traffic. In urban areas of Japan, where traffic moves slower, doesn't necessitate as much the view of incoming traffic as it does the immediate area around the car.

The little white car at the very end it’s not a 1.3 L it’s a 7.2 L V10 turbo with 520hp!

I hope daihatsu would remake a modernized version of 90s daihatsu rocky/feroza, like what suzuki did with the jimny, modern but still retro looking

Neat convertible. Bubbly. Looks like it'd match up against the NC pretty well. Kei trucks and vans seem like the no frills vehicles that people keep asking for (Suzuki carrys and the like). Shame only a handful are cleared for and capable of highway speeds. Those low load beds would make a great hunting rig. And they aren't lacking payload.

the orginal copen used to be sold in europe, people called it the barbie car. Daihatsu is owned by toyota now also they made the engine for the first generations of the toyota yaris. Also they had a turbo charged 993cc engine who produced 105 bhp back in the eighties thats still good numbers by todays standards.

Wish Daihatsu came back to The Netherlands.. currently it's all about how big can my SUV be and all of those SUV's are really ugly and they look the same.. I drive my Daihatusu Copen 1.3 which makes a Fiat Panda look like a SUV but it is so much fun to ride.. I prefer this car over any SUV..

That one is electric and RWD Copen. Current gas FWD is too old. They invest in electric to bypass Kei class engine size limit, and also use it as low volume test bed to develop the technology.

I wish Americans had very different tastes in vehicles so we actually could have kei cars in the U.S. Americans need more affordable, thrifty cars. Not these gas-guzzling behemoths to commute alone in with 84 month loans. It's gotten ridiculous.

With the new Mazda and now with that Daihatsu Copen one can tell that the styling of the new Japanese cars is already superior to the German offerings which are ugly and fora the lack of a better word, unfinished.
