@@jayemdaewarehouse9027 In that sense I think that things have really changed as women have become more and more equal and now the utility has really flipped from external to internal. As women stop being as marginalized, and gender isn't essentially a mark of inferiority or expectation, the utility has changed to a far more individualistic thing, it's something that makes you happy instead of something that appeases others.

Real talk, I feel like I could get this guy to change his stance in like two talking points if I just talked to him and could have a real discussion. JC came off really reasonable here and was bringing actual sincere points to the table, Jake just kept laughing at him and dodging what he's saying instead of actually making a real argument based in real-world pragmatism. The frustrating part is that when people deal with guys this annoying and stupid it just proves their existing worldviews right. So Jake isn't actually helping. He's just making a good case EXTREMELY badly and making things slightly harder for the rest of us.
Idk Jake did a pretty good job of getting this guy to explain his underlying thoughts. Like on Trans people in Sports, I think you're missing the point about Trans Women using Testosterone suppressants. As someone on feminizing HRT myself I can confirm low T symptoms within a month or two. So the concern over T levels is a bit misguided, I think. On top of that, Cis Women also produce Testosterone. Dutee Chand actually was banned from competing because her natural T level is just higher than normal, meaning she has to take T suppressants or she'll be forced to compete against men. Since we're already barring people based on hormone levels anyways, it feels pretty logical that we could just regulate Trans Women based on hormones and there wouldn't really be an issue. Especially since there just haven't been that many Trans athletes that even made it to top levels of play. That's my stance, at least.

"I'm not anti-trans," then they proceed rattle off a list of things that trans people shouldn't be allowed to do, while slipping in bits about how they still are okay with trans people. Or, like how conservatives will also say things like, "Well I think that if someone is an adult, they should be allowed to transition," then they proceed to push the goal post back by trying to pass laws that don't consider trans people to be adults till they're 25 years old. It's also not uncommon for someone like, "he/ they," here to cherry pick parts of trans health care that conveniently validate their transphobia, but ignore the other parts that show how silly their bigotry is. It's more common now for them to be more mask off about their bigotry, but not even 1 or 2 years ago, they still tried to maintain plausible deniability. Just like Cenk, and Ana tried to proclaim how much they LOVE trans people, but then fear mongered over how advocating for trans rights will get Trump re-elected. Many of them today, like he/ they are still too cowardly to actually come right out and say it.
@@cns6 I can use my perspective as an example of how many of these statements aren’t necessarily transphobic. I think trans activists should abandon the trans sports argument because it is too nuanced of a topic for the mainstream to ever agree to. Neopronouns are actively harmful to pushing for trans rights because they are non-intuitive, not to mention originate from the same place as the “attack helicopter” meme: making parody of a cultural theory of gender. Advocating for “A woman is someone who identifies as a woman” instead of advocating for dysphoria is a way to ensure trans healthcare will stay a private expense instead of something covered by insurance or be considered as a health issue and not a plastic surgery issue so it can be covered by national healthcare in countries with nationalized healthcare such as Canada and the UK. If I had it my way, do as thou wilt. I can’t have it my way, the only way to progress on the subject of trans rights is to win over the laymen in the center by allowing concessions. I’m more concerned with kids being disowned and homeless, or worse: outlawed, than whether or not someone can use neopronouns.

Gravity is another example of this scientific definition of Theory. In order for something else to come along and dislodge a scientific theory, it’s almost guaranteed to include our understanding of evolution as a component of it but not dislodge it. Theory isn’t “a good guess”. It’s backed up entirely by our collected scientific knowledge.

To steelman the position when Vaush's porn folder leaked people found something in there that might have been loli and tried to hypocrisy shame him after he had spent years saying that loli was creepy and weird and you can't hide behind "it's just drawings". Vaush claimed that when he first downloaded the image he thought it was just a shortstack, and the folder it was in was just a sort-later folder so he hadn't looked at it fully. So - this guy's position at best is Vaush said loli is creepy, but he had loli porn on his computer... I have to rethink everything about trans rights.
That's just not what he said. He saw Vaush lie about it at first and that made him realize he was fallable and could be wrong. Now, I don't think that's what specifically happened, I believe Vaush when he says he didn't know, but that's a pretty reasonable response. If someone you trust in seems to lie to you then it makes sense that you'd stop and question beliefs you got from them.

There is nuance to the discussion. It is impossible to disprove a negative claim, but there is evidence if trans women people go through puberty they have an advantage on average which is compounded if they have been on hormone therapy for less than three years. The way we can minimize these advantages to the point of negligibility would be to require trans women to have been on puberty blockers and had three years of hormone therapy to compete which opens a whole new can of worms a normie will reject (possibly to the point of rejecting trans rights as a concept depending on circumstance) so it’s probably better for the movement as a whole to not push for trans women in women’s sports. I support trans rights, but I’m more concerned about the trans people being disowned by their families than whether or not they can play on the women’s basketball team.

I didn’t say anything about “anti-science concessions”, I said make concessions such as in the trans athlete discourse for the bigger issues such as trans healthcare which I feel would be more pressing. You say I should “listen to others”, who should I listen to though? The trans people in my life who tell me arguments such as neopronouns, trans athletes, trans people don’t need dysphoria and other such arguments are actively harmful? The women in my life who have gone from accepting gay and trans people to saying I’m misogynist when I say trans people are valid? I’d rather observe the discourse, look at evidence or polling data and from there take an informed perspective. Every intelligent person I've met isn't smug about being intelligent and has a yearning to learn more (so constantly asking questions/opinions of who they are talking to and patiently listening because they actually want to hear their answer). Everytime he went "I'm not putting up the aesthetic of being smart, I am smart," honestly just reinforced the former in my head.
