It is interesting and similar to the princess deck my wife plays, with a few changes. First, if we're playing Sapphire, seems like a waste not to have at least a little ramp. Also, since they are primarily for early game, we drop Aurora and Jasmine to three each. Add four Gramma Tala for ramp. She is still an excellent target for Rock Star and it gives her some value when played. Letting her enter exerted can accelerate the ramp, though most opponents won't trade into her, but occasionally it happens. She is perfect for trading into an opposing Lilo if you bounce Simba, the occasional Amethyst Maleficent, or Steel Simba that appears fairly regularly in Steelsong decks. With all the five-drops, you really need to increase Just In Time to a full set. It is obviously great in the early game, but it can also jam up your opponent later if you can manage a double JiT for a Moana-Maximus drop. A turn one Stitch, followed by a turn two Lilo, then a turn three Maximus, and shift Rock Star on turn four is almost unstoppable. We don't like the Mr Smee (he's just too far away from princess for us) so we drop it for the extra JiT. We occasionally include a couple of Fishbone Quills. It is nice to fill the three-drop gap if we don't pull a JiT or Jasmine so it doesn't hurt tempo and since it is inkable, if we get the draw we want, it is an easy add to the inkwell. When we don't use the Quills, we play a full set of Maximus to increase the drop rate. He is almost essential mid/late game to protect Moana, especially once Aurora is warding. Simba is great up to about turn four, then he gets in the way more than helps and that is when Maximus shines, not just for his bodyguarding, but for his support that can make Minnie Mouse, Rapunzel and even Gramma Tala have value as attackers which is something this deck lacks vs stronger character decks like Ruby and Steel. Finally, my wife just cannot stomach having a villain in her princess deck, so Maleficent is out and she often adds a couple of Lanterns. It is a small risk given they are uninkable, but along with the Quills, that can be mitigated. If she doesn't draw Rock Star or JiT, she can use Lantern to bridge the gap on turn three and accelerate access to the five-drops.
I love how your wife is so into the theme of the decks! That's a great way to play in my opinion :) It's definitely a different way to play Sapphire that's cropped up only very recently but the reason this deck doesn't run ramp is it's very much an "aggro" deck which wants to hit the board running and quest early! So ramp usually holds it back, especially in this list where there's not many high cost units to ramp to! It's very nice of your wife to detest villainy in this deck enough to not run Maleficent but I love the card too much to take it out xD such good value for the cost! There is a more midrange variant that runs Detective Mickey and has higher cost characters like 7 cost Hades and Surfer Stitch too!
From my experience it comes down to racing them down on lore faster! If it's ever a desperate situation you also have Let It Go but in most circumstances this deck lores faster than evasive decks and forces your opponent to answer first
